The Moist Exhausting Free Trip Ever - Link to Part II Thread pg. 244

Sorry I've been MIA, Glen. Work has been crazy and I wanted to finish up my TR which I now have done. I love your Nemo pics; we have not done that yet (finally did Lion King this year) and hope to catch it on the next trip.

Leave time to take care of Marv's thread while he's gone !!!;):rotfl2:

Nice job Rosie!!! See, you aren't the biggest loser after all! :thumbsup2

I would say something about yesterday being the Sunday our SS Class has its after church party, then we head over to the local nursing home to deliver fresh baked goodies and sing carols for them, but since I'm supposed to give Rosie grief, I'll just say I was reading where she posted that she learned to load her own pictures, passed out from shock, and only woke up when the alarm clock went off to head to work this morning!!! :rolleyes1 Heading over now to confirm she actually wrote that, or if it was just a very, scary Rosie nightmare!!!

Actually, come to think of it, I think Pat should be declared the winner this round, since Rosie counted a ThuNb, which I don't believe is actually a Judy part! :lmao:

Funny you should say that !!!:lmao:Phil's nickname for me is NIGHTMARE!!!!:scared1::lmao:He put it on my laptop when I first got it and said !!!"Iknow you will never figure out how to remove it "" He was right !!! My password also has his name in it :lmao:

Oh my gosh, that is exactly where I'm scared of getting stuck on EE! I don't know if I would be able to get out when it came time to emergency exit.

Wow, you got a few good pics of the lion! I really like that first one you took.

I think I would be more scared of being stuck in the dark part of the ride, as they pulled us up and backwards. I think I would be scared of falling out of the ride.

The only thing I don't love about that first big climb is the sun that gets in your eyes

Darn it - Late again. :sad2: Oh well.
4 Judy's including the thumb. Must read faster. :rotfl2:

It's tough to beat Rosie when she's on fire like this.

Awesome rain mojo! That happened a couple of times on my trip too, where we completely missed the rain!!

You can't beat that. :thumbsup2

I've always wanted to spend more time in the shops looking at the details. Those wires are really cool detailing. They make it so authentic.

I've noticed the stuff in the EE shop before, but never paused long enough to take any pictures. But we were kind of waiting there for Judy to return, so I had time. I think the EE shop has more details like this than others....if I think of the dump shops for RnRC and Space Mountain, they have merchandise, but not this much in the way of theming items.

Or he'll claim he was scouting :rotfl2:Either way GRIEF is coming !!!:rotfl2:

Ya think? I don't know, this is Marv we're talking about. I'm sure he'll understand.

I'll claim that I was still in church! :lmao: I DO use my phone during church, but not for the DIS! Tsk, tsk Glenn! ;) (I use it for my Bible and note taking actually, so stinkin' handy!)

I'm just worried that my phone is on "vibrate". It's not smart enough for all that stuff you mention. Maybe my next one.

I have never seen the baboons on the safari! I think those are the first pics on the DIS I have seen of them too.

I predict there will be better baboon pictures on the DIS at some point. Won't be hard to beat those. Oh well.

One of my favorite themeing aspects at AK are the crazy cords for lighting and random light fixtures. I have so many pictures similar to that, but I think that one takes the cake!

I guess Africa and Asia are known for that kind of thing.

I hope you get back to EE!

Time will tell. :rolleyes1

Sorry I've been MIA, Glen. Work has been crazy and I wanted to finish up my TR which I now have done. I love your Nemo pics; we have not done that yet (finally did Lion King this year) and hope to catch it on the next trip.

Think nothing of it Kathy. I've been having trouble keeping up with a lot of threads lately also.

I hope you get to see Nemo...I think you'll like it.

Guess I've been lucky so far....never been ON a ride like this when it broke down, only turned away like you guys were this time!

That would not be fun.

As an electrical engineer, I think I've seen that same work before.......... :rotfl2:

Try googling "home inspection nightmares".

What kinda guy sends his wife off to do his dirty work, makes her hike all the way back to the base of Everest, then immediately take her right back past where she already went on the way to another whole continent??? :confused3  TGM would be so disappointed in such lack of foresight and planning!!! :sad2:

You've got a point there. Maybe we should have said we'd meet her over near Kali or something. Oh well, I think it was her idea.

More of that Disney magic!!! :wizard:

They're good!

I don't remember baboons either, so I will have to look for them this trip.

Get a good picture...not like mine.

BTW, I dated a girl once who had eyes that color. :rolleyes1

I'm sure you told her what her beautiful eyes resembled.

Nice GET on the lion pics! :woohoo: I think all I've ever gotten was about 1/4 of that much since they are usually sleeping.

These are my first decent lion pictures after probably my fifth safari ride.

ALWAYS trust your notes!!!

If I had only used my notes!

Nice job Rosie!!! See, you aren't the biggest loser after all! :thumbsup2

Funny how you gave her a thumbs-up, considering the comment you made below.

I should have known you would be feeding the sick, or clothing the hungry.

Actually, come to think of it, I think Pat should be declared the winner this round, since Rosie counted a ThuNb, which I don't believe is actually a Judy part! :lmao:

I consulted Dan and he said that was the correct spelling.

Uh oh. I hope it wasn't during that rain shower.

I think they got stuck after the rain came through. But that would have been a double-whammy, wouldn't it?

Hmmm. I'm no good at the Judy game, but it looks like you found one Marv! :thumbsup2

:rotfl2: Sorry, I couldn't resist.

NICE one! :thumbsup2

This looks exactly like my Christmas light display. I'm hoping the county inspectors don't make any surprise visitsl.

Good luck with that.

You always come up with some great shots. Well done.

Thank you Cap'n.

You haven't seen Figment around much lately, have you? I believe they put his carcass at the top of the tree. :lmao:

Ohhhh! That makes sense. I thought that was a the remnants of a purple balloon.

I'm gonna ask for that chip at Home Depot next time.

Let me know how that goes.

Wow! Great work! I'm going to assume that something momentarily jostled him awake, he took a quick look around, and then put his head back down and went to sleep.

I yelled "lame gazelle heading this way!"

Your son did a nice job representing Penn State as well! :thumbsup2

Yes. He's doing better than me on this trip. I try to switch to Mickey attire when at Disney.

Leave time to take care of Marv's thread while he's gone !!!;):rotfl2:

Good point.

That's funny. :rotfl2: They shouldn't pick on you like that.

Oh my gosh, that is exactly where I'm scared of getting stuck on EE! I don't know if I would be able to get out when it came time to emergency exit.

Yeah, I wouldn't like that too much either.

Wow, you got a few good pics of the lion! I really like that first one you took.

I like that one too. I like the out-of-focus grass in the second one, but the lion's a little blurry. Maybe I shook the camera a little, or it's a little out of focus.

I think I would be more scared of being stuck in the dark part of the ride, as they pulled us up and backwards. I think I would be scared of falling out of the ride.

The only thing I don't love about that first big climb is the sun that gets in your eyes

I'd hope that could move you without having to get out of the cars.

You've got to be careful of your neck as you start up that first hill. Keep your head pressed to the headrest. That's how Judy hurt her neck last year.

Great pictures of the male lion! I have never seen a better shot. That darn guy is always hiding when I'm the ride.

Those wires sure look like an electrical hazard! I've never noticed them before. Then again, I'm not in that store very much anyways....

Hmmm. I'm no good at the Judy game, but it looks like you found one Marv! :thumbsup2
Oh Har-de-har-har!!!
It's tough to beat Rosie when she's on fire like this.
Oh I don't know, you can do a lot with a really good spoon!!! :rolleyes1
Ya think? I don't know, this is Marv we're talking about. I'm sure he'll understand.
::yes:: You probably know me as well as anyone, so not surprised you would be right on this!!!
You've got a point there. Maybe we should have said we'd meet her over near Kali or something. Oh well, I think it was her idea.
Hey, didn't you tell me you never hesitate to tell your woman where to go, and what to do!!!
Get a good picture...not like mine.
Well, there is that jostling and zooming along thing to overcome......
I'm sure you told her what her beautiful eyes resembled.
I think I remember waking up and she was gone right after that.........:confused3
I should have known you would be feeding the sick, or clothing the hungry.
Actually, with my singing, I may have been MAKING the sick!!! :rotfl2:
I consulted Dan and he said that was the correct spelling.
:surfweb: :lmao: OMG, I'm so glad I wasn't sipping coffee at that moment!!!
NICE one! :thumbsup2
Oh, don't encourage him! :sad2:

Thanks for the great update! Katharina and I were making fun of those people with the expensive photo equipment at WDW saying that what do they need it for if their main subject are their kids... But I can see that you really put your new lens to good use at AK! I assume these lion pics were made with the "gorilla lens"?

EE closing down was a dissappointment, think I would find it very interesting to be evacuated from this ride! But only afterwards! I am really afraid of heights, and walking down along this track I would freak quite a bit. :scared1:

The electric equipment at Serka Zong is impressiv! It reminded me of a comment my mother once made when we were walking around the old town of Arles in Southern France. She was looking at some electrical installation with a similar quality and said: Why is it that here in Southern France things like that look romantic, while in Poland they look like poverty? I guess the great thing at Disney is that we know that it is only theme, so it can really look romantic without any relation to poverty! :goodvibes

Great pictures Glenn!

I hope I never get stuck on EE. We got stopped for a while on Splash right before the drop. It was very hard on the neck but I don't thing the scare factor is near what it would be on EE.

Wonderful family shots in front of the tree and the shrine. I have never looked around in the dump shop for EE and now I will have to look for those details.

Can't wait to read about your Blue meet.

Day 6 - Part 5

IMG_3479.jpg

I’d recognize my thumb anywhere…and that’s not it.

So... is that a Judy sighting?

You know, I’m surprised that some paint company hasn’t come out with a color name of “Baboon Butt Blue”.

IMG_3493.jpg

Well, it IS a rather nice color... I'm not sure I'd repaint my whole house with it, but maybe the patio furniture?

I loved your mama/baby shots!! Those are pretty rare on the Safari too!!

We have Baboon butts at our zoo too. I take my kids there just to hear them laugh belly laughs there. (my kids that is, I don't know what a baboon sounds like when it's belly laughing.)

Super fun detail shots, too! I got hung up on the masks too in the Serka Zong.

You've reminded me once again how thankful I am to have my trip notes!! I'd be so lost at this point, it'd be useless to write a report. But then again, by now, a lot of you are thinking the same thing. :lmao:

You're writing a trip report???

I guess I better take notes this trip. That's why I never got around to writing a TR about our last trip. When I finally started trying to put it together, I couldn't remember that many details! Of course, after meeting the internationally famous glennbo123, the rest of the trip was rather uneventful..... :) Of course, I guess I could have cheated off of his TR since we were in a lot of places at the same time! :rotfl2:

Great pictures of the male lion! I have never seen a better shot. That darn guy is always hiding when I'm the ride.

Oh, thanks Jenbear! I know...it's taken me several safari trips to finally get him looking half awake.

Those wires sure look like an electrical hazard! I've never noticed them before. Then again, I'm not in that store very much anyways....

What, you're always running through to get back on the ride?

Oh Har-de-har-har!!!

Hee hee hee.

Oh I don't know, you can do a lot with a really good spoon!!! :rolleyes1

Oh yeah, that would smart.

Hey, didn't you tell me you never hesitate to tell your woman where to go, and what to do!!!

Do you think I'd be able to stay married this long with that philosphy?

I think I remember waking up and she was gone right after that.........:confused3

Waking up with a knot on your head, right?

:lmao: OMG, I'm so glad I wasn't sipping coffee at that moment!!!

DIS with caution.

Thanks for the great update! Katharina and I were making fun of those people with the expensive photo equipment at WDW saying that what do they need it for if their main subject are their kids... But I can see that you really put your new lens to good use at AK! I assume these lion pics were made with the "gorilla lens"?

Oh shoot. I was going to check the information on the photo using the camera's software to see if I could tell for sure...but I forgot. I think I used the long lens....I'm not sure that my regular lens could zoom that close, and I vaguely remember not being quite ready to take a picture when we came upon the lion section, so I may have been changing lenses. But my memory's not real clear on that.

EE closing down was a dissappointment, think I would find it very interesting to be evacuated from this ride! But only afterwards! I am really afraid of heights, and walking down along this track I would freak quite a bit. :scared1:

I'm with you -- I would not want to have to walk down from that ride!

:goodvibes

You're right! Looking at that wiring, I knew it wasn't functional so it was just "interesting theming".

Great pictures Glenn!

Thank you ma'am!

I hope I never get stuck on EE. We got stopped for a while on Splash right before the drop. It was very hard on the neck but I don't thing the scare factor is near what it would be on EE.

Splash would be bad, but I think you're right, Everest would be worse.

Wonderful family shots in front of the tree and the shrine. I have never looked around in the dump shop for EE and now I will have to look for those details.

Thanks. Yes, look around in there for a little bit.

Can't wait to read about your Blue meet.

:)

So... is that a Judy sighting?

Yep, sure is. Especially after I had given clues that Judy went to get the fastpasses and that it wasn't my thumb in the picture. Rosie got it right away.

Well, it IS a rather nice color... I'm not sure I'd repaint my whole house with it, but maybe the patio furniture?

That's the spirit! I think there were plenty of prom tuxedo's that used this color, back in the '70's.

I loved your mama/baby shots!! Those are pretty rare on the Safari too!!

Yes, I don't think we've seen any little tykes like this on previous trips. But I didn't really remember getting pictures of them until I went to write the chapter. :upsidedow

We have Baboon butts at our zoo too. I take my kids there just to hear them laugh belly laughs there. (my kids that is, I don't know what a baboon sounds like when it's belly laughing.)

Some things are universally funny, and a blue butt has to be one of them.

Super fun detail shots, too! I got hung up on the masks too in the Serka Zong.

Cool! Glad you noticed them.

You've reminded me once again how thankful I am to have my trip notes!! I'd be so lost at this point, it'd be useless to write a report. But then again, by now, a lot of you are thinking the same thing. :lmao:

I'm sure you could use your receipts to piece together what you did. ;)

No, you're doing fine. I haven't seen very many other trip reports that included stops in Nuremberg Germany and Bowling Green KY.

:rotfl2:

I know you'll come through with good notes and a good trip report...since Rosie's putting pressure on you.

Now you al saw it Marv threatened me with VIOLENCE!!!!:rotfl2:Sweet little INNOCENT me !!!:lmao:

You were more credible before you put that "Sweet little INNOCENT" part in.

Great pictures of the safari. And super cool pics of the poor people stuck in EE. I would not have enjoyed having to come down from that, that's for sure.

Looks like a "Safarilicious day!" Don't know why I just said that - looks like fun! You got to see alot of wildlife for such a hot time of year! I read somewhere that they have a/c vents on the rocks for the lion to lay on so it looks like he's posing - I always get him asleep on the rocks. You actually got him awake in the grass!:thumbsup2

Do you think I'd be able to stay married this long with that philosphy?
I have!........ :rolleyes1
Waking up with a knot on your head, right?
That wasn't obvious??? :confused3
DIS with caution.
You are wise beyond your years young Padawan!
I know you'll come through with good notes and a good trip report...since Rosie's putting pressure on you.
:scared: :crazy2: :worried:
You were more credible before you put that "Sweet little INNOCENT" part in.
:thumbsup2 So, So right!!!
Looks like a "Safarilicious day!" Don't know why I just said that
Oh no, the rest of us are rubbing off on you! Be afraid, be very afraid!!! :rotfl2:

Well said, Glenn. I wholeheartedly agree.

I thought it sounded like something you'd say. ::yes::

Great pictures of the safari. And super cool pics of the poor people stuck in EE. I would not have enjoyed having to come down from that, that's for sure.

Thank you.

Maybe I should have stayed and watched to see how they got those poor people down. But it was more like our sighting of DeVine...I kind of said, "I'd hate to be them" and went into the dump shop.

Where were you when I was trying to think of a chapter title? :rotfl2:

Marv has a theory on why you said that.

I'd be curious to see what it looks like up there on Pride Rock. If there's a vent, how much room he has to move around, what's keeping him from moseying down to the road and having a park-guest sandwich...that kind of thing.

I have!........ :rolleyes1

Something tells me that you get told where to go and what to do on occasion.

You are wise beyond your years young Padawan!

Now I'm young? How many times have you called me old?

:thumbsup2 So, So right!!!

Knew you'd agree with that.

Thank you.

:lmao: Oooo...great pictures and and insightful commentary. :rotfl: Love it.
