The Moist Exhausting Free Trip Ever - Link to Part II Thread pg. 244

I haven't worked since April - and woudn't you know - I' working 3 days this week and Monday next week....and totally forgot about the Judy contest.:guilty: But now that I'm track again....uh....10 Judy's - and great PhotoPass pics! Well, great Glennbo pics too, my family never seems to do very many PhotoPass pics so I always enjoy seeing them.

And aren't the bats and kimodo dragons the creepiest, most facinating creatures there!

OK this is a fantastic day in the SteppeFamily!!!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

You heard it here first!! Congrats to nodnol who won this round, that is cool!! But guess what's even cooler??

We bought a car!!!!

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

A 2000 Buick Regal LS!! More later on my own thread, but had to check here first to see who won. Now, back to read...

I LOOOOVE bats!!!

I like them from the distance that I was when taking that picture. Don't ask me about the time that I came face-to-face with one while peering into an attic after removing the roof vent. I almost jumped off the roof. :scared1:

Those peacock pictures are so funny. Did the hen pay any attention to him AT ALL??

Nope, not at all. And for some reason, your question brought Billy Joel's "She's Always a Woman" to mind.

Komodo dragons are so cool. I love dragons too. I just like reptiles.

I wouldn't want one for a pet, but it was cool to see.

I really liked the shirt Marlene wore. It's very cute.

And it's Yuki-approved!!! :thumbsup2

Thanks!

Oh yeah, good point! I forgot to mention, whoever won this round of points gets to post a photo of themselves in a dirndl on this thread. (Marv, thank you for not winning.)
Happy to do my part!!! ;)
Beating Marv was an uplifting experience, I'm sure.
It was for me!!! :woohoo: Oh wait, you were talking about the contest weren't you.........:rolleyes1
You're here just in time to help us clean up all these paper cups that the competitors threw down as they ran by and got drinks.
I always hate that part, but honestly they weren't really from the competitors.......it was the suckers who were looking for a trash can after their family convinced them to try Beverly!
We bought a car!!!!

I would say congrats, but I'll wait until I see it on your TR thread just to make sure the rumor is true!

Man, I can't keep up with the ninja posters!

I haven't worked since April - and woudn't you know - I' working 3 days this week and Monday next week....and totally forgot about the Judy contest.:guilty: But now that I'm track again....uh....10 Judy's - and great PhotoPass pics! Oh well. It was over in a flash Tanya!

Thanks. We got the photopass cd, so we needed to try to get our money's worth.

And aren't the bats and kimodo dragons the creepiest, most facinating creatures there!

I must agree!

OK this is a fantastic day in the SteppeFamily!!!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

Mucho congrats! Glad to hear it!

It was for me!!! :woohoo: Oh wait, you were talking about the contest weren't you.........:rolleyes1

Not gonna touch that one.

I always hate that part, but honestly they weren't really from the competitors.......it was the suckers who were looking for a trash can after their family convinced them to try Beverly!

Oh, that'd be fun to watch -- substitute Beverly for water at a marathon.

I would say congrats, but I'll wait until I see it on your TR thread just to make sure the rumor is true!

The announcement's there, but still no pictures...so it's still just an unconfirmed rumor at this point. ;)

I like them from the distance that I was when taking that picture. Don't ask me about the time that I came face-to-face with one while peering into an attic after removing the roof vent. I almost jumped off the roof. :scared1:

Oh my gosh what a shocker! I would've been surprised too, but then I would've wanted to catch it.....

I wouldn't want one for a pet, but it was cool to see.

I've always wanted a snake, but my parents threatened to eat it.....

And it's Yuki-approved!!! :thumbsup2

Hooray!

Way late here. I had errands to run and well they took longer than expected.
i saw 10 but looked at the first picture and wondered if that blurry woman was Judy. That yellow shirt had sleeves and Judy was not wearing sleeves so 10 Judy's.

Love the walking trails.

So wrong my friend. Check Capt Oblivious' thread from earlier this morning. The same issue was causing me problems when I was trying to post to his thread, and still is even now. Sadly it is only a problem with the DIS, and I don't know why unless others are having a problem too. It just keeps locking up and I have to close the window and start all over....:sad2:

I had that too and I found out I had some remnants of a virus. Virus protection said they got it all but I guess not. Once I restored to an earlier version ( Windows 7 can do that ) I was fine.

Sorry I missed all the excitement!

Wonderful photo pass pictures! I'm having a hard time picking a favorite. I do admire that peacock for not giving up.

I seem to be trailing you. My next post will be Everest and then the Maharajah Trek.

:yay: Good to have you back Rebecca! (I saw you catching up on threads and figured you'd arrive here soon.)

Thanks! Its good to be back!

I'd thought there was only one DeVine too, so I don't know what to make of this new development. Maybe it's like how there used to be two Gallagher comedians touring the country?

I hope you're kidding! Even one Gallagher is too many!

Gorillas are great to watch. When they do something. Seems like mostly they just sit, but one time in Thailand, we saw one pee in a Coke bottle, then drink it. Highly entertaining for the kids, young and old alike.

Yikes! Only in Thailand!

Well, its too late, and I'm wrong anyway - but I only counted 9 Judy's. I was interupted mid post by a phone call, so its not really my fault.

We never make enough time for the trails. Seems like AK always closes at 5 during the times of year that we travel - and one short day isn't enough to see it all (but that's all we ever give it :sad2:)

Great Photopass pictures! And you're right - those two do look almost identical except for a slight change in your expression. ;)

Oh my gosh what a shocker! I would've been surprised too, but then I would've wanted to catch it.....

I just wanted to catch my breath.

I've always wanted a snake, but my parents threatened to eat it.....

I'm sure it tastes like chicken.

It doesn't get better than that.

Way late here. I had errands to run and well they took longer than expected.

Correct. Good practice for next time.

Love the walking trails.

::yes::

Good to know.

Sorry I missed all the excitement!

Oh, it was exciting.

Wonderful photo pass pictures! I'm having a hard time picking a favorite. I do admire that peacock for not giving up.

Thank you!

That peacock sure was persistent. She probably just doesn't like public displays of affection.

I seem to be trailing you. My next post will be Everest and then the Maharajah Trek.

I thought I sensed I was being followed. It's like back a few weeks ago when it seemed everybody was posting Whispering Canyon Cafe chapters.

I just saw your Everest installment, and am looking forward to the Maharajah Trek!

:)

I hope you're kidding! Even one Gallagher is too many!

No, I'm not kidding. There's more to the story than just a sledge-o-matic. You can read about it on his Wikipedia page, but long-story short, he allowed his younger brother to do some touring using his act, but it was just supposed to be small venues. As you can imagine, it got out of control and lawyers had to get involved and there was a lot of family strife.

Well, its too late, and I'm wrong anyway - but I only counted 9 Judy's. I was interupted mid post by a phone call, so its not really my fault.

We're not looking to place blame, Rebecca. But ask your receptionist to hold all your calls while you're DISing.

The Judy you probably missed is in the picture (2nd one of the chapter, I think?) with the two buildings in Africa. She was walking ahead of me, partially obscured by Marlene.

We never make enough time for the trails. Seems like AK always closes at 5 during the times of year that we travel - and one short day isn't enough to see it all (but that's all we ever give it :sad2:)

You'll just have to go again! :yay:

Okay Glenn, time for another update! The DIS is zooming along on the HOME internet!!!! :sad2:

I'm not sure when the next one will be....going to be a little busy whooping it up for the holidays here shortly.

Great Photopass pictures! And you're right - those two do look almost identical except for a slight change in your expression. ;)

Thanks Carissa! He (or she) must have held the shutter button down like they were shooting a sporting event I think. I can't believe nobody else moved.

Catching up on the actual TR...

My trip notes for the time covered in this chapter literally consists of two generic sentences, “got a fastpass” and “went on Maharajah”. So, for you dear reader, that means that it's quite possible that nothing very interesting happened, other than what was documented in the pictures. But, it was still an enjoyable time for us, wandering around Animal Kingdom.

As good as the Maharajah trail is, this is not a bad thing.

We reached “the end” of the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail, at the rear of the park, behind the safari, where Africa bottoms-out, near the dairy-area (okay, I’ve never heard of that either, but work with me), and as much as I’d like to say more, I’d better butt out. I don’t want to cause a rumpus.

Nicely done. Did you pick up any souvenirs or other booty?

In this next one, my expression looks like I am being subjected to mind control. "Must....eliminate....the....ambassador.”

Now I'm going to be thinking of Reggie Jackson trying to kill the Queen of England all day.

He had to have surgery to repair his foot, but without antibiotics he might have died, because these guys have septic bacteria in their saliva which basically acts as venom. I saw a TV program once where a komodo dragon bit a water buffalo and then just followed it for a day or so until it dropped dead.

We got to the bathouse, that’s bat-house, not bath-house, by the way. And the bats prove once again how they can be ugly and beautiful at the same time. I love taking pictures of them. They are loathsome, offensive brutes, yet I can’t look away.

Nice pictures! You got some interesting lighting here. We didn't spend much time there. My wife can't stand looking at these guys.

"Hey babe, welcome to the gun show!"

:woohoo: Boom-chicka-bow-wow...

I guess I didn't really take any pictures of the theming of the Maharajah Jungle Trek, but I love it. They make it look like you're walking through the ruins of an old palace, which is now a wildlife preserve. Stone structures along the path look weathered and crumbling from years of exposure to the elements and there's a bicycle near the end that seems as if a villager left it for a moment while running an errand. I think I like this trail even better than the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail.

I totally agree! We loved the ruins. I think they'd be fun to explore even without the animals.

I coulda swore I posted last night or early this morning !!Must of crashed before I did !!! So Glen I am here and all caught up!!

Ten!

;)

Hey! I'm alive!!!! And I have time to DIS! Wonderful updates Glenn, loving all those amazing AK pictures. The ones of the gorillas are incredible!!!!!! :worship: Very, very nice zoom work!

I laughed out loud when Judy just hurried everyone along at DeVine. "Yep, that's her. Let's go." :rotfl:

I hope that DIS meet happens later in the day, or at some point!

Oh good one!

If I had, I would've gotten smacked up the backside.

Now I'm going to be thinking of Reggie Jackson trying to kill the Queen of England all day.

That was exactly the reference I was going for! +1 :thumbsup2

Oh wait, those are worthless here....not like on your thread where they're...Hey, wait a minute!

Actually, I went to IMDB to see if there was a quote I could use from that movie, but I didn't see anything that would be quick and easy.

This installment also has a Seinfeld quote in it, if you want a small challenge.

:woohoo: Boom-chicka-bow-wow...

Alvin and the Chipmunks!

I totally agree! We loved the ruins. I think they'd be fun to explore even without the animals.

That would be cool. But maybe leave one Komodo Dragon or tiger in there, just for a thrill element.

I coulda swore I posted last night or early this morning !!Must of crashed before I did !!! So Glen I am here and all caught up!!

Glad you're here and caught up! :)

You got it! :yay:

Hey! I'm alive!!!! And I have time to DIS! Wonderful updates Glenn, loving all those amazing AK pictures. The ones of the gorillas are incredible!!!!!! :worship: Very, very nice zoom work!

Welcome back...you've been missed! Thanks for the compliment!

I laughed out loud when Judy just hurried everyone along at DeVine. "Yep, that's her. Let's go." :rotfl:

That was pretty funny. Nothing much more to say than that. :confused3

I hope that DIS meet happens later in the day, or at some point!

All I can say is...stay tuned. :)

Great photos of DeVine! (Sorry Judy!) I have never seen her. I will be on the lookout for her when we go to Disney next year. Super photos of the animals too, even if they wouldn’t cooperate; the meerkat who wouldn’t look at the camera, the okapi with it’s mouth open, the hippo who blinked when you pressed the shutter button, and the nerve of that gorilla mooning you! :rotfl:
