The Moist Exhausting Free Trip Ever - Link to Part II Thread pg. 244

i've heard editing PP pix is not a picnic. Only for the intrepid and brave at heart, in fact.

No, it's not that hard really. The things you can do are pretty basic...mostly cropping and adding borders. I do edits and save them as a copy so that I usually end up with the originals and several versions of the same shot. It just can take a long time because the system is so slow.

:lmao: If you MUST know, I shaved just today. But being that winter is setting in, it may be the last time for a while. Just warning you.

If I hear of any sightings of a really short Bigfoot in the Pacific northwest, I'll know not to panic. ;)

I"m becoming quite schizophrenic over the whole thing. Pass the prozac!!

It looks like you've kept the same one for at least 12 hours, so that's a good sign.

A new avatar picture a day keeps the insanity away! :thumbsup2
Oops, Never Mind! :rolleyes1

Yeah, where'd you get that idea?

I'm sure I will. Holy carp it takes a long time to sift through, edit, upload, etc...

More than one has said that.... :rolleyes1 (eh hmmm.... mary ;))

Have you started editing photopass pictures yet? That can take a long time -- their system is s-l-o-w.

Oh I know your pain.

The photopass site was so slow at times, I could feel myself growing old waiting for it to update. So many times in fact, that may keep me from doing photopass again. Spending that much money to be kicked out of the site too many times to count and then having to call to complete the order in the time frame they give you. S-T-R-E-S-S-F-U-L I tell ya.

Hello there fella sassy's !!!:rotfl2:Playing Hookie today !! Only going in to do timesheets !!Weeell we'll see how that goes !!:rotfl2:

You got some nice photo pass pics. Good thing that you took a pic of your card. I heard that here last year and we did that with our tickets also as we didn't do a package this year.

I never went to their water parks but was to the one at Busch Gardens years ago and loved the wave pool. I don't live by the ocean any more and it reminded me of that. The gulf never has waves.

My daughter went to TL with her school 2 years ago and loved it.

I beg to differ!

but yeah, you have to have a lot of luck to catch good waves in the gulf and still be safe about it.

Hey Glenn! Back from our trip and catching up. I love the story about the girls experience with American Idol - especially Lauren's "I love my sister" comment. Priceless moment.

I'm so jealous of your pictures at Typhoon Lagoon - there wasn't a single photopass photographer at TL when we were there, and I was so bummed. Now that I see how cool yours are, I'm even more bummed!

Also, great CSR pics. Isn't it annoying when you go from air conditioning to the outdoors and the lens fogs up? Happened to me over an over. I'm sure I've asked you this before, but I've forgotten - what kind of lens are you shooting?

I was in a share with a couple of other people who had never done Photopass before and it was very stressful for them, not knowing what to do exactly, and being under a time constraint.

Thank you! I've taken pictures of our cards and annual passes before, but this was the first time I had to resort to that "insurance policy".

TL was pretty nice, glad to hear that your daughter enjoyed it too.

Thanks. Glad you're getting caught up....take your time. That was a good evening, when we were hearing about their AI auditions.

I'm so jealous of your pictures at Typhoon Lagoon - there wasn't a single photopass photographer at TL when we were there, and I was so bummed. Now that I see how cool yours are, I'm even more bummed!

Oh that stinks! I was glad that we got a few, but we can't compare with FauntleroyFan07...he's the king of photopass pics. He got zillions. Okay, that may be an exaggeration. He got oodles and oodles.

Also, great CSR pics. Isn't it annoying when you go from air conditioning to the outdoors and the lens fogs up? Happened to me over an over. I'm sure I've asked you this before, but I've forgotten - what kind of lens are you shooting?

Yes, I hate that! And it took like 20 minutes to clear up.

It's just the kit lens that came with the camera. A Canon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6. I also have a zoom (but didn't use it for those CSR photos), which is 75-300mm f/4-5.6.

Hi Glen !!! Waiting for the next Judy sightings !!!!!!:rotfl2:

Morning Rosie. I've written about 2/3 of the next installment. I tried to finish it last night, but got kicked off of the computer because homework had to be done. I could have broken out my work computer, but it was just easier to go watch the football game instead. It'll probably get posted tonight.

I will be waiting for the update tonight when I get home at midnightish!!!!

See - Glenn - you need a command center of your own. My husband likes toys.....computers, tv and dvds. His first computer was actually some Timex thing that I have yet to figure out how it ever worked - its such a bizarre looking little thing. Then he had Commodore 64's - again - I never figured them out.:confused3 In '92 I started working at a place that used Apple computers, so when he wanted to buy another home computer I said he had to get one I could use too :thumbsup2, so we got our first Mac......now our basement looks like a computer graveyard, each of the boys has a hand-me-down of some sort, I have a MacBook - and he has the command center - right now it consists of of a flat screen desk top computer, his macbook, an iPad, and a netbook......plus the 10 or so external hard drives. No homework gets in the way of his computer time.:sad2:

I promised myself I wasn't gonna bug you again.....but here I am..... :confused3 How do you update the title of your TR? I added my 1988 Diamond Horseshoe pics to mine and spent the week-end trying to figure out how to add on to the title to show that here were there :surfweb:. I need a smilie holding up a white flag - cuz I surrender.....I can't figure it out

Go to the very first post in the TR thread. Select to EDIT the post, and when that comes up on the screen, select GO ADVANCED and it will allow you to edit the title.

You probably like sassy until it's your own wife... :lmao:
Actually, I wouldn't complain if she was a little MORE sassy! ;)

Well of course. With a Cross Country meet, followed by a late soccer game, there is no way I will be able to defend my Judy-Do sighting victory in the last round! :sad2:

Well, if Rosie won't be around until midnightish, maybe I can at least beat her (no wooden spoon joke intended) to the guess. At least maybe I'll have POLE position over her anyway! :rotfl2:

Thanks Marv!! I was half way there - I went to "Edit" and it would let me at the title - I never thought of using (or maybe never even noticed) the Go Advanced option.

Looks like I've got a deadline now.

I had a friend in high school who had a Commodore 64, and a college roommate who had TRS 80 (which we used to call "Trash 80"). I was able to talk my parents into getting me an Apple IIe, which made for a great word processor.

Good job. Thanks for lending a hand. (By the way, you left out the part about hitting "save changes".)

For some reason I feel like we're approaching TMI.

They should rename it the "To Infinity and Beyond" button.

REally?? Well, I guess its just me then. Your pics seem to come out way better than mine. I've been blaming it on the lousy kit lens and thinking I needed something faster. Maybe I just need more practice.:sad2:

Hmmm. Don't know what to tell you. Keep practicing!

Day 4 - Part 3

With rain chasing us out of Typhoon Lagoon, we headed for the bus stop. We watched plenty of other resort buses pass by, and then when ours finally arrived, we had to wait in a huge line of cars and buses trying to leave Typhoon Lagoon. I hadn’t seen that much congestion since…I don’t know, fill in your own joke here…Barbara Streisand caught a head cold? What can you come up with?

When we got back to Coronado Springs, my family headed back to the room to shower, change clothes, and rest up, and I went over to the lobby concierge desk. I had to get a new room key and also make sure that nobody had found my key at Typhoon Lagoon and gone on a little spending spree. A bunch of “free” visits to the snack bar could add up, you know. With the room key situation taken care of, I went back to the room and got ready for our evening activities as well.

At 5:30 we started walking over to the convention center to line up for the buses that would take us to Hollywood Studios. At some point during the walk over, the kids learned that we wouldn’t be getting to the park until 7 pm, and they complained, wondering why we were going over so early. But we’d learned from our 2005 Disney trip with PChef that you have to line up early or else you’re going to be at the end of a verrrrry long line of people to get on the buses, and you’ll end up getting to the park late. When we got to the place to line-up, there were only about 10 people in front of us.

By about 6:10, the line behind us looked like this.

IMG_3064.jpg

It’s kind of hard to see towards the back in that picture. Here, I’ll hold the camera up for you.

IMG_3065.jpg

And actually at the wall you can see way in the back there, the hallway takes a turn to the right, and then to the left again, going back towards the Pepper Market. So, who knows where the end of the line was.

Probably around 6:30 or so, the people in charge said they wanted us to move forward and line up nearer the door. There was a table directly in front of us, so we had to pick whether to go right or left. Judy asked me which way to go, and I said, “right”. As we went through, they were giving out some light-up necklace thingees that had "PChef something-or-other" on them. Well the lady on the right side was having trouble keeping all of the necklaces untangled and a bunch of people went through on the left side while we stood there wondering how long it was going to take her to hand those things out. We got through and now had about 20 people in front of us. (Never follow me in a line…I always pick wrong at the grocery store too.)

Remember the “Great Rope Fiasco” back in the “Hoopla in Hyperspace” chapter of this trip report? Well, something similar happened here so I guess I’ll call it “The Great Line Fiasco” (although it wasn’t nearly as bad). We had gone past the table, gotten our light-up necklace thingee, and walked a few feet to a line that started at the door out to where the buses were. The people in charge wanted to fill-up that space more so they asked that the line extend past the door and circle-back on itself, kind of like a fishhook shape. There were no ropes or anything to keep people in line, so you can imagine what happened when we started going out to the buses. The people who were 200th in line were close to the door and couldn’t see the point of walking in a circle through the lobby area, so just sort of merged (ie. budged, crowded) in with the people who were 20th. No, make that 26th. I didn’t let anybody get in front of us, we’d been waiting patiently for too long.

Then we went out and were directed to a bus and we boarded. A little while later the buses started to roll, and they were passing us on the right as we sat there. Doh! Fortunately, our bus driver wasn’t timid, and as soon as there was a small break in the traffic, he pulled into line. We were probably about the sixth bus to leave. As we turned and could see the parking lot, it was just a mass of buses. I couldn’t even begin to guess at how many there were.

I imagine they made sure that the consultants who earned the higher levels of the trip (those who earned stays at the Grand Floridian and the Contemporary) arrive at the park first, as another “bonus”. We arrived a few minutes after 7 pm, and were directed around the back, near Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. I thought it was strange, since we walked in through the front gate back in 2005.

Here are some pictures of the parking lot as we drove in.

IMG_3073.jpg

Then we were directed toward an open gate, and we entered the park near the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster fastpass machines.

IMG_3074.jpg

IMG_3075.jpg

You can’t see them here, but on each side of the gate were coolers full of cans of pop and bottles of water. We each grabbed one as we went by. Oh, and they also had free rain ponchos, which we snagged.

People on stilts (“Stiltmosphere”?) greeted us.

IMG_3076.jpg

IMG_3077.jpg

As we continued in there were some other Streetmosphere people dressed-up as Rocker Dudes.

IMG_3078.jpg

IMG_3079.jpg

They were really funny. They told James to cram as many Cokes in his pockets as he could.

IMG_3080.jpg

We decided to get on Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster first and try to beat the rush. Marlene didn’t want to go on so we gave her a cell phone and she went to wait for us in the gift shop. James wanted to try it, but got scared when we got to the boarding area, so he took the “chicken-out door” and went to find Marlene. The rest of us enjoyed another ride on RnRC.

We left Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and thought that we’d better turn our attention to getting some food because back in 2005 when there were buffet tables set up on Sunset Boulevard, they didn’t keep them set up for the whole evening. We walked out to Sunset and saw that there were tables, but they only had cupcakes on them. Instead of a buffet, we could get food from any of the vendors.

IMG_3082.jpg

So we walked over to Rosie’s All American Café.

IMG_3083.jpg

I got a burger, fries, sweet tea, and chocolate cake. James was with me and got a cheese burger, fries, chocolate cake, and root beer, which he loves. The ladies got a couple of burgers and an order of chicken nuggets. But the best thing was this…here, check out this picture of the receipts that I took after we got home.

IMG_4359.jpg

You don't see an amount due of "0" every day at Disney.

We found a table to chow down. Near the pole, at the center of the table, you can see the light-up necklace thingees we got.

IMG_3084.jpg

James’ grub.

IMG_3085.jpg

Lauren and her mustard art.

IMG_3086.jpg

IMG_3087.jpg

I think this next picture must have been my food. You know what really impressed me? The chocolate cake. It doesn’t look all that appetizing the way it’s packaged, but it was quite delish.

IMG_3088.jpg

After we ate we walked up Sunset Boulevard, grabbing a cupcake on the way. (Yes, I had a cupcake after eating chocolate cake. I like cake, what can I say?) Then we got up to the movie theater and had our PChef star pose for a picture in front of the marquee.

IMG_3090.jpg

At a stage, set up in the center of the park, there was a celebration of the company’s founder’s birthday. (She's the one on the left.)

IMG_3091.jpg

They were having trouble with the sound when we were passing by, but we were on our way for our last assault on Toy Story Mania anyway. I paused as we entered the standby line to take a picture of the giant baseboards heading into “Andy’s room”. I think they're a really neat addition to the theming. Judy couldn’t believe I was taking a picture of the wall, as you can see by her look of dismay in this picture.

IMG_3092.jpg

Going through the line I knew that this was it. My last attempt to beat jenbear’s score of 179,200. While in line, I looked like a football player before kickoff. I was limbering up my arm, spinning it in windmill fashion. I stretched my neck muscles by tilting my head from side to side. I jumped in place for a little bit. To psych myself up I chest-bumped James. Well, it may have been more of a belly-to-head bump. But when the dust settled, my score was…

I demand a rematch!

Oh well. By this time it was about 9 o’clock. We really wanted to see the American Idol show, which was scheduled for 10 pm. For one reason, we wanted to see if video of Marlene made it into the Intro. But in addition to that, the husband of a director in Judy’s down-line had made it into the finals, so we wanted to cheer him on. So, we started walking over toward the American Idol theater.

On the way over we passed a popcorn vendor, and the kids each got one. I wasn’t going to get one, I certainly didn’t need any more food, but I realized that in the back of my mind I was planning on “sharing” some of the kids’ popcorn, and since it was free and all I thought that might as well get one of my own.

We hung out on the steps of the American Idol theater, we were the only ones there that early, and enjoyed our popcorn.

IMG_3095.jpg

There was also a deejay playing dance music under the Sorcerer’s Hat, getting people to dance to “Cotton Eye Joe” and stuff.

While we stood there, (easily beating the crowd that wasn’t appearing), Lauren wondered about trying to get in one more ride on Tower of Terror. I said I’d go with her, so I left the camera and other gear with Judy and the other kids, and we took off for Tower of Terror at 9:20. We jogged down Sunset Boulevard to Tower of Terror, pretty much got right on, and jogged back, zigging and zagging around people. Sometimes we could jog down the street, other times we had to jump up onto the sidewalk. We returned to the American Idol theater at 9:45. Yep, 25 minutes there and back, including the ride. The downside was, it was so humid out that I got super-sweaty. Moist exhausting. This was a job for a PChef microfiber towel, which I just happened to carry in my park bag!

Anyway, they hadn’t even let the crowd enter the theater yet. Judy and the kids were first in line at the doors to go in, and it was pretty easy for us to excuse our way through to them. (Or maybe it was that nobody wanted to get slimed by the gross, sweaty guy?)
