The Moist Exhausting Free Trip Ever - Link to Part II Thread pg. 244

I know that I ended my last chapter saying that “I see red people” would be next, but since I haven’t written that chapter yet, and because I have some other items to talk about, I thought I’d save that for next time and post about some other “stuff”.

First Topic. I finally got around to taking a picture of the Minnie charm that I bought for Judy at the World of Disney store at the end of our first day. (It’s the one on the right.)

IMG_4252-1.jpg

I think it is the same one as what I posted a link to back when we talking about it earlier in the TR, but that link doesn’t work anymore.

The one on the left is a giraffe I bought for her for Christmas or her birthday or our anniversary or who-knows-when (hey, gimme a break, at least I showed up on the right day with a gift even if I can’t remember what the occasion was now). It’s to symbolize our DVC home of Animal Kingdom.

Second topic. I had wanted to wait to give my overall assessment of Coronado Springs until it “fit” into the trip report, but who knows when that will be. So, I think it’s time to put my stake in the ground.

Pros and Cons. I’m sure there are more, but these came quickly to mind.

Pros
Picturesque
Good system for paying at the Pepper Market (I know many don’t agree with this!)
Nice rooms (big beds; I like the colors, fabrics, and wood)
Knowledgeable and friendly cast members
Sidewalks allow for jogging

Cons
Very spread out; long walks to feature pool and El Centro
Feature pool not as “fun” as other moderate resort pools
Several bus stops means you spend a long time driving around the resort
Pepper Market is pricey

At one point during the week, Judy and I talked and we both agreed that overall, we like Port Orleans Riverside better. The fun pool and everything being closer at POR were the biggest factors. The kids agreed too. Now, don’t get me wrong. I’d be happy to stay there if I was attending a conference. It’s a lovely resort with lots to offer. But if I’m spending my own money and picking among the Moderates, I’d prefer Port Orleans Riverside. I’m Sorry, CSR lovers. It’s not that I don’t like it, it’s just more of a preference thing. And if they put the CSR rooms at POR? Fuggedaboutit!

Well, that’s about it Disney-wise. How about I leave you with some fishy (and other wildlife) pictures from our day-trip to the Baltimore Aquarium last week?

Nice recap and thanks for your honest opinion. I haven't stayed at PORS yet but we did enjoy POFQ.

Absolutely beautiful "fishy" pictures. You must have a really nice aquarium.

Love the charms :lovestruc

We love POR as well, stayed there twice but then again haven't stayed at any other moderate resorts so we really have nothing to compare it too but we like it there so we keep going back.

Very nice pictures at the aquarium! Love the pictures of the Jelly fish

Thanks for the recap Glenn. This is the type of stuff I like in a review.

Oh, and the 4th pic down (Jelly man with some golden light shining) and the last shark pic...those ROCKED dude!

LOVE the giraffe charm (my favorite animal)--even if you don't remember the occasion. ;)

Thanks for your honest assessment of the CSR. No resort is perfect for everyone and everyone has their favorites (the buses don't bother us because we drive everywhere). We've not stayed at any of the other moderates. But I can tell you that POR-Riverside would be the only one we consider if the CSR were not available for our dates.

Love the fish pictures.

That aquarium is on our list of things to do when we are in Baltimore for the day next weekend! How was it? Is it big like Seaworld kinda thing?

I agree about CSR. The rooms are probably the best part...oh, and the sunrises. It's such a picture perfect resort for that.

WELL done! :thumbsup2:cool1: Really, it matters not that you remember the occasion now, only that you put that much thought into the gift in the first place.

I couldn't agree more, and for all the same reasons!

Thanks for the aquarium pics! We never made it inside when we were there while visiting my aunt. It was Dec. and we Floridians were freezing outside, waiting to get in. We sound up in the bookstore nearby (Borders? Barnes & Nobles?) with hot cocoa instead.

If you are a history buff, I would also recommend you take the trip to Ft. McHenry!

Now, without looking it up on the internet (glennbo!), let's see who will be first to tell me the significance of Ft. McHenry?????? :teacher:

Dum dum dum dum, dum dum dum............

Thanks for the CSR review glennbo123... useful, very straight to the point and easy to understand.

And WOW! Awesome pictures!

Although I feel kinda weird talking about fish in two different threads on the same day :rotfl:

It's on the list! I know it was involved in the War of 1812 and where the Star Spangled banner was born. That's from my memory of looking it up earlier today :rolleyes1

That's pretty good Jen, for a foreigner... :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Actually, I'm quite proud of you, even if you did read about it earlier today. When my oldest DS was in 5th grade I was a chaperone on his class trip to Washington, DC. We did a (part)day trip to Baltimore. I asked the teachers why they didn't schedule Ft. McHenry into the itinerary and one of them looked at me and said....What's Fort McHenry? :scared1: I was flabbergasted that she wouldn't know the answer to that, but then I do know where she went to college so I wasn't really surprised.......:rolleyes1

So can you tell me how/why the flag was still standing so Francis Scott Key could still see it and be inspired to pen his famous lines???

Thank you. The Baltimore Aquarium is supposed to be one of the best.

Love the charms :lovestruc

Thank you Laura. I guess I'm just a POR guy. The jellyfish were very cool.

Thanks for the recap Glenn. This is the type of stuff I like in a review.

I know, you're slightly analytical.

Oh, and the 4th pic down (Jelly man with some golden light shining) and the last shark pic...those ROCKED dude!

Yeah, that jelly you're talking about looks like it'd make a great lamp. And the shark pic, at first I was disappointed at how dark it was, but I think that's how a shark would want to be depicted. :cool2:

Those are the cutest charms! I love how the giraffe is a symbol of your DVC home.

Thanks tink!

LOVE the giraffe charm (my favorite animal)--even if you don't remember the occasion. ;)

Thanks. I think it'd make a good favorite animal.

I was thinking of you when I was posting it because I know how you and Mark enjoy it so much.

That aquarium is on our list of things to do when we are in Baltimore for the day next weekend! How was it? Is it big like Seaworld kinda thing?

Oh good. It's nice. It is big, but it's not like Sea World with a lot of shows. Having said that, I'll contradict myself by saying that there is a dolphin show, but we didn't see it. I think if you choose to buy a ticket that includes the dolphin show they give you a show time to attend. When we were at the ticket booth, at about 12:30, had we purchased a ticket with the dolphin show we would not have been allowed into the aquarium for another hour. We opted for getting in right then, with no dolphin show.

I agree about CSR. The rooms are probably the best part...oh, and the sunrises. It's such a picture perfect resort for that.

I don't think I caught a sunrise. The rooms were very nice.

WELL done! :thumbsup2:cool1: Really, it matters not that you remember the occasion now, only that you put that much thought into the gift in the first place.

You are absolutely right! Thank you.

I couldn't agree more, and for all the same reasons!

That's cool, because I know you ruminate on these things.

Thanks for the aquarium pics! We never made it inside when we were there while visiting my aunt. It was Dec. and we Floridians were freezing outside, waiting to get in. We sound up in the bookstore nearby (Borders? Barnes & Nobles?) with hot cocoa instead.

Yep, Barnes and Noble. I imagine it was pretty cold on the waterfront in December.

Yes, Marvin, I knew that without consulting Mr. Google. Francis Scott Key, War of 1812, and all that.

Good job jenbear! We'll let you into the country. As long as you have all the proper papers.

Are you referring to the fact that the flag was pretty darned huge?

I'll sign off with a couple of pix ...

Night All!!!

I know I'm a bit behind here, but had to say: :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

Great CSR review, glennbo! I'll be staying there for a night in October before moving over to the Poly...I really liked POR, but I figured I should try someplace new. And I was hungry when I booked it, and I liked the sound of Pepper Market, so there ya go. I haven't put in my room requests yet -- any advice there?

Yes, Marvin, I knew that without consulting Mr. Google. Francis Scott Key, War of 1812, and all that.
I had faith in you Glenn, really I did.
Good job jenbear! We'll let you into the country. As long as you have all the proper papers.
Probably more necessary she has all the right papers if she wants to go home.....
Are you referring to the fact that the flag was pretty darned huge?
Nope. I'm referring to how it was still standing after a night of rather heavy British bombardment.....

Until proven guilty. And between pictures and witnesses, there might be a good chance of that. ;)
Is witness tampering a crime in all continents ?????:lmao:
You two ninja posted on me.

I wish I could meet all of my DISfriends in person. Someday GB. It'll be a granny-slapping good time.

Ya'll heard that he's gonna slap me !!!:rotfl2:

I considered that one also, but then I'm never quite sure just which continent Rosie might be IN. :confused3

DEPENDS on the day!!!!!:lmao:

Yep, England's a competely different one, versus Niagara Falls.

Wow that;s why I'm confused I thought it was dementia but NO I am in 2 continents !!! The whizzing around did it !!!:lmao:

I always learn something new when I visit your thread! I never knew England and Niagara Falls were continents!!! Whouda thunk it??? :rotfl:

I didn't MAKE you do it. I mentioned it, found a pole, and you did what you did. :lmao:

Sure like ya can bring a horse to water ......Bring Rosie to a pole and ya don't make her dance !!!:rolleyes1:rotfl2:

Oh my God, Rosie...I am rolling on the floor right now. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Did ya find any dust balls !!!!:rotfl2:

Okay nuff funny stuff !!Glen those Aquarium pix are amazing !!I loved them !!! Now going back to get caught up completely!!
