The Moist Exhausting Free Trip Ever - Link to Part II Thread pg. 244

Ok, it appears that I need to come up with a clever idea for what those folks are doing....

I think this is a super secret practice and training session for the best fastpass attack during the TSM stampede at rope drop. By speed-walking like this through the masses of people others will be so confused that they will not attempt to pass you. Since it is very tiring to hold your arms up like this for a long time, it requires regular training. :thumbsup2

You think that's bad, you should try reading 290-743!!!

Ay carumba!

Okay, getting in on this one early!

In keeping with your PChef trip to Disney theme, they were showing the top sellers and their families an as yet to be released enhanced version of Angels in the Outfield! popcorn:: Everyone really got into the feeling of really being there in this new version of filmmaking, and couldn't help themselves from rising at the climax to wave their arms with all of the characters in the movie!

Okay, okay. Logging your entry....

That little 'c' in there was completely intentional.... just so you know :goodvibes

Huh, I thought it was a typo too. Sorry about that!

I love this TR. I admit, I am one of those "lurkers" and don't normally post but you guys are cracking me up. I'm in.

I am still somewhat new to all this and I need to learn more the closer I get to our trip since I keep changing things around.

Can't wait until the next chapter.

:welcome: mom2AandL! I'm so glad you joined in!

How exciting that you will soon be taking your first family vacation to WDW!! What would you like to learn? There are tons and tons of Disney planning experts on here. It's what we'd all rather be doing than our normal jobs, believe me. So....where will you be staying?

Oh this one is easy... there was a contest to pose as goofy shrugging but everybody was failing miserably... in fact I can see some "rise the roof" poses here and there :rotfl:

Oh my! I see that I will never live that one down.

I think everyone is channeling their inner Richard Simmons. Now move those feet!

Mmm hmmmm. Okay, got it.

im going with a very failed attempt at the wave.

:yay:

Okay, very failed...obviously.

Yes, my mother who is 66 years old keeps telling me about those annoying OLD people... As if she did not belong and then laughs about herself for doing this!

Does she say things like "Those darned octegenarians!"?

Ok, it appears that I need to come up with a clever idea for what those folks are doing....

Oooo, you tied it to Disney park hopping. Good idea.

Since I'm about to post another chapter, I suppose I should pick a winner in the little game we had this afternoon.

I'm going to say that the winner is.....

Tribilín.

I'm a sucker for a reference to one of my old TR's.

Day 1 - Part 4

As we approached our room I said, “I’ll bet that James says ‘where were you?!’” and true to form, as soon as we stepped through the door he said, “Where were you?!” We explained that we had to take care of some things with our tickets for next time, and everything had worked out well.

Then we tried to decide what to do next. I asked whether people wanted to check out the pool or go to Downtown Disney. We planned to go to Port Orleans Riverside in the evening to see the Yeehaa Bob Jackson show, and wouldn’t have time to do both before we’d need to leave. It was decided that while the kids wanted to get to Downtown Disney at some point during the week, right now swimming was what they wanted to do.

While Marlene and James took turns using the bathroom area to change into their bathing suits, I noticed my headache worsening. :headache: I bent over to take off the tags that the airline and bell services had put onto our luggage, and with the rush of blood to my head I thought that my head was going to explode.
think001.gif
I got a couple more Advil from Judy, and she offered to accompany the kids to the pool so I could lay down for a while.

So off they went to the pool. Well Judy, Marlene, and James anyway. Lauren stayed back to rest also. I figured that with the pace that Judy had been going for the last couple of weeks, she’d be the one who would get sick or tired, or sick and tired, but no – I was the first casualty. I don’t know if it was because of the travel, or too little sleep, or worrying about the ticket situation, or what, but I was hurting like no headache I’ve ever had before. I really wanted to see the pool, but at that moment it was a no-go.

After resting for about an hour my head began to feel better and I got my cell phone to check the DIS. I even wrote a post for my PTR saying something to the effect that we’d arrived, I was in the room with a headache while others were at the pool, and that the “tickets to nowhere” had a resolution (wanted to save the details for the TR). Unfortunately, the post got lost. My phone is kind of weird when accessing the internet. It has to give me a zoomed-in view, and it seems to randomly pick and choose what content it includes in the zoom. When I wrote the post my phone neglected to include the “submit” button, so when I zoomed-out to find it, I lost the post. So, with that I realized that I would not be making any “live” posts on my PTR.

With my head feeling significantly better, I decided that if I was going to see the pool before we had to leave for Port Orleans Riverside, I’d better get going. Lauren decided that she’d go too, so we each changed into our bathing suits. I called Judy’s cell phone to let her know we were coming and they were just about to leave to come back to the room. I asked her to hold on for just a few minutes until we could at least get there, and she said she would, but she warned me that it was about a 10 minute walk from where our room was. The main pool was located on the completely opposite side of the lake from the Casitas buildings.

Just as I started out, I got a strange call on my cell phone from “cardmember services” saying that there was a problem with my credit card and fraudulent activity may have occurred. To continue, it asked me to enter my 16-digit credit card number. Well, I may have been born at night, but I wasn’t born last night, and I knew that my credit card company shouldn’t need me to enter my number if they called me, so I hung up. But the fact that I never got around to calling my credit card company to tell them I would be traveling to Florida, went through my head, and I wondered if the ticket purchases had set off a flag.

Anyway, we started booking around the lake, Lago Dorado by name, to the feature pool, which is known as “The Dig Site”. Along the way I, of course, had to pause for a few pictures.

The building in the middle of this picture, and extending to the left, is El Centro, which houses the lobby, gift shop, and restaurants.

Our destination lies across these waters.

A look back at the Casitas buildings.

IMG_2517.jpg

Ah yes, the Dig Site is in the distance.

IMG_2518.jpg

I was greeted by a challenge coming from the beach volleyball court. Of course, it was James. Let me at least see the pool first!

IMG_2519.jpg

Here are a couple of pictures of the pool.

IMG_2520.jpg

IMG_2521.jpg

The pool was nice, but….I gotta say, I like the pool at Port Orleans Riverside better. It has a lot more “fun” things spraying and dripping. The only spraying item at the Coronado Springs pool is that one thing that looks like a tiki-shower.

I found Judy just as her cell phone was ringing. She answered it and said “it’s cardmember services”. I said, “don’t key-in your credit card number! I just got the same call.” So she hung up. She decided to walk back to our room to start getting ready for our evening activities, and she’d call our credit card company to find out if there really was a problem with our card. I’d hang out with the kids, giving them a few more minutes to enjoy the pool.

I went over and played a little volleyball with James. It was kind of tough since it was just the two of us. Pretty much whoever served, scored. That’s a lot of ground to cover for just one person per side.

Then we went back to our chairs and got James’ mug for a refill of root beer. I was surprised that you had to have the CM at the snack bar fill it for you. I was used to the system at Kidani where you could fill them yourself. Apparently they don’t use the honor system at Coronado Springs.

After that, James challenged me to a game of foosball. He quickly rattled off several points and was soon beating me 4 to nothing. I realized I had to turn it up a notch, so I came storming back. A little further along, James scraped his hand across the end of one of my poles and of course, blamed me for injuring him. We continued on and were eventually tied at 9. The game was to 10 -- the next goal would win (or so it would seem). I soon shot a lightning bolt into James’ goal, but he had some excuse for why it didn’t count. Redo. And soon I scored again. He couldn’t come up with two excuses in a row, although he did say something about his scraped hand.

Judy sometimes wonders why I can’t let the kids win, but I think it’s a guy thing. I’m too competitive not to play to win. When they win, they know they really have beaten me, because I’ll give it my best shot.

As we finished our game, a boy James’ age came over and I left so they could play each other. I went looking to see what the girls were up to. I found them in the pool, having tried out the slide. I told them that we needed to get going. We refilled our mugs yet again and started herding James out of the pool area.

Judy called me to tell me that she had talked to our credit card company and there was no problem with our card. It was a phishing scam.

As the kids and I walked around the lake, James ran ahead so that he could try out a hammock. He was very disappointed to find that all 3 of the hammocks that we passed on our way back to the Casitas were occupied. They had all been available a few minutes before when Lauren and I had walked over. Sometimes you just can’t win. But that’s okay, we had plans for a fun evening.

Wow, scary that a scam had both of your cell phone numbers. Good thing you were so aware, that could quickly ruin a great trip!
Our card company called us but just said " I noticed a large amount of activity at WDW is this correct".
Pool looks nice, I keep trying to get my DH to look at CS.

Me? Competitive?

(I had already thought of photochopping Judy into something else.. :rolleyes1)

Are the PMs something akin to what happened during the ADR game a few months back?? :lmao:
JUST KIDDING, guys!!! ;)

photochopping

:rotfl2:

Poor Judy!

Oh man, snooze and you miss out on a game! I like the channeling of inner Richard Simmons.

:rotfl:

Or hula hoop pre-hoop training.

There is always the hokey pokey but I'm guessing its far more interesting than any of that.

They called BOTH of you to phish? Scary that they got both cell numbers (and impressive...in a scary way).

Huge bummer about the headache, glad it improved and you got some psuedo pool time.

yes, it's a guy thing, not letting the kids win.

:rotfl:

I hate those scams. Even though I registered for the no "calls" to my cell phone, I still get them (yet another scam).

And and FYI in case you did not discover it later during your stay at the CSR, you can refill your own mug at Cafe Rix (the grab and go); I thnk it started about October of last year or so that you couldn't do it yourself any more at the Pepper Market because of the way it is set up.

i loved that update, one for you sticking it to them and knowing it was a scam...and two for the pool pics, it brought back great memories of parkers first stay there, we loved that pool alot of fun...also werent you able to fill up the mugs yourself at that little food stand next to the gift shop? thats were we filled them up after the parks when the pool snack bar was closed.

all right im making an appearence in the next chapter very exciting, but i prob wont be around for it, our vacation starts tomorrow and wont be back till monday.
:cool1: but i will catch up when i get back.

Scary about your credit cards.

Glad you go to feeling better and went to join your family.

It must be a guy thing, my dh does the same thing, and our kids are 5 and 2. Though he has eased up and let them win recently, but I know that won't last. My kids always beat me ;)

Looking forward to the fun night ahead.

Great update!

Sorry to hear you had a horrible headache. I hope that was your first AND last casualty. Have you ever tried Excedrin? I get terrible headaches and Excedrin is the only thing that will work for me. I know exactly how it feels when you bend over during a bad headache - it really does feel like your head is going to explode! :scared1: And what a great dad to play volleyball and foosball after feeling so crummy! I used to be a pretty good foosball player back in the day! :lmao:

I can't believe the scammer had both of your cell phone numbers! :scared1:

Can't wait for the DISmeet!

I am sorry to hear about your headache. I don't get them often but when I do it seems to last forever.

Can't believe that someone had both cell numbers and you were thinking not to put in your number. I had Visa call me once but didn't get them any info either because I didn't know if it was them. I called back and it was them. Having your credit card canceled on vacation would really not be fun. I think I will bring a back up just to be safe.

Headaches stink!! The ONLY thing that helps me is to sleep, and sometimes it does take a few hours- so I'm really praying that it doesn't happen to me. I wish pinpointing the trigger was easier. Sometimes I think it's the bright sun, or the heat, or hunger? or ???

I need reminders once in a while about scams like this! Thanks! Seriously, I like to think I'm pretty savvy, but sometimes being too trusting, or caught in a non-thinking mode can be a problem. I might have thought too, "oh yeah, I'm spending money out of my normal pattern; of course they'd be calling...."

Pool is fun, but I admit, I like the looks of POR more too. Is it just me, or does it look like there's more shade at POR?

I have to admit, I am not sure which color of mug top to get. I know, obsessive. I'm leaning towards black- it's more versatile. and will go with my shades. :cool2:

I don't let my kids win either after they are about 6 or so- I think it's more a personality thing than a guy thing. I"m sure all of mine are forever damaged and will need therapy someday.

Sorry about your headache! I once read that one thing that can trigger a headache is a sudden drop in stress level. I think you might just have been to relaxed! :lmao:

The pool looks nice, but I get your point, it looks a bit like just a pool. I love free form pools, they have intrigued me since I was a kid, so anything with corners isn't that goodlooking to me... But at least you can get your mugs refilled directly at the pool. Could you do that at POR? I always thought you had to go into the food court for that?

Looking forward to the Dismeet post! :goodvibes

The pool looks nice, but I get your point, it looks a bit like just a pool. I love free form pools,

That's exactly me too! When I was reading your post, Mikki was standing next to me, and we both said at the same time. "Hmmmm....looks just like an ordinary pool!". Especially in the first picture. When you add the pyramid, it does get better somewhat, but for me it just lacks something.

Nice update!! That resort looks HUGE. Well thank goodness it was a scam and nothing was wrong with your card. I know when we went in April I was using my Disney Visa too and was worried about it not going through and thinking it was a stolen card.

There should be a rule....no one should be alloiwed to try phishing scams on you while you're at Disney! (Ok, there should be a rule that no one should try phishing scams on you whatsoever, but the "at Disney" rule might be easier to do.;)) Honestly, I hope that if that happens I don't go into knee-jerk "ok, sure - here you go" mode. We did notify our credit card company before we left. I couldn't believe there was an option in the automated menu to do it!

Looking forward to seeing how much trouble you and Dan got into at Yeehaw Bob's! :rotfl:

And and FYI in case you did not discover it later during your stay at the CSR, you can refill your own mug at Cafe Rix (the grab and go); I thnk it started about October of last year or so that you couldn't do it yourself any more at the Pepper Market because of the way it is set up.

Sorry about your headache. I get migranes which are no fun but weather, and allergies are my triggers. Sleep is the best remedy but my drugs are the only way to make it go away.

In 2006 you could fill your mug at Pepper Market but when you ate there the CM's did too and it was confusing. I guess when they remodeled they just put it behind the wall.

Yes at the grab and go, Cafe Rix now has the self serve mug station. Before they remodeled that it had a different name when it was really small. I forget now and it doesn't matter

Our card company called us but just said " I noticed a large amount of activity at WDW is this correct".

Isn't that weird that we both got called? Within a few minutes?

Yes, we've received the "we've noticed" calls before too. I'm glad they watch.

photochopping

:rotfl2:

Poor Judy!

Yes, poor Judy. She's not even on here and gets threatened with photochopping.

Oh man, snooze and you miss out on a game! I like the channeling of inner Richard Simmons.

:rotfl:

Or hula hoop pre-hoop training.

There is always the hokey pokey but I'm guessing its far more interesting than any of that.

Sorry about that. Just a little afternoon fun.

Game Reveal: That picture Dan posted was from the Yeehaa Bob show. I think we actually were doing the Hokey Pokey. That's what it's all about.

They called BOTH of you to phish? Scary that they got both cell numbers (and impressive...in a scary way).

Yes! Strange.

Huge bummer about the headache, glad it improved and you got some psuedo pool time.

It was one of the worst I've ever had, but 3 Advil and an hour's rest pretty much took care of it. :)

yes, it's a guy thing, not letting the kids win.

:rotfl:

Liesa says she does the same thing, but she probably just has a little extra testosterone.

I hate those scams. Even though I registered for the no "calls" to my cell phone, I still get them (yet another scam).

That's the place next to the gift shop? (Where I originally bought them. Duh.) Now that you mention it, I do remember seeing the mug refill machine in there. But I never thought to go take our mugs there!

I wanna another contest that I can WIN!!! I'm like Liessa not at all competative !!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Hmmm. I'd say "how about the first person to post a picture of Niagara Falls", but living there you may not have felt the need to take a picture.

i loved that update, one for you sticking it to them and knowing it was a scam...and two for the pool pics, it brought back great memories of parkers first stay there, we loved that pool alot of fun...also werent you able to fill up the mugs yourself at that little food stand next to the gift shop? thats were we filled them up after the parks when the pool snack bar was closed.

I'm glad it brought back some memories for you. And I'm glad we weren't at Coronado for the whole week -- the only place we filled up the mugs was at the pool! :rotfl: Oops.

all right im making an appearence in the next chapter very exciting, but i prob wont be around for it, our vacation starts tomorrow and wont be back till monday.
:cool1: but i will catch up when i get back.

Sorry about that. I'm dragging this out so I have time to write the chapters!

Have a great vacation!

Thanks. I was so glad my headache went away and I could get back to the business of having fun.

Yes, I figure they'll easily beat me soon enough, so I'd better win a few while I still can.

It wasn't the last casualty. In fact, another TR title could have been "They're Dropping Like Flies".

No, I've never tried Excedrin. I very rarely ever get headaches, and never as bad as this one was.

I was actually feeling pretty good by the time I got over to the pool so it wasn't a sacrifice to play some games.

So you've got foosball skills...cool! I'm sure it's like riding a bike and you could pick up where you left off.

I am sorry to hear about your headache. I don't get them often but when I do it seems to last forever.

It was a minor miracle that this one went away with a little rest and Advil.

Can't believe that someone had both cell numbers and you were thinking not to put in your number. I had Visa call me once but didn't get them any info either because I didn't know if it was them. I called back and it was them. Having your credit card canceled on vacation would really not be fun. I think I will bring a back up just to be safe.

I have no idea what the trigger was. Maybe all of the above.

Yes, when Judy got the call too, and we had just spent money on upgrading the tickets, I was thinking "maybe it's legit"?

Pool is fun, but I admit, I like the looks of POR more too. Is it just me, or does it look like there's more shade at POR?

Yes, there's more shade at POR.

I have to admit, I am not sure which color of mug top to get. I know, obsessive. I'm leaning towards black- it's more versatile. and will go with my shades. :cool2:

Well, black does go with anything. Don't stress too much over this one.

I don't let my kids win either after they are about 6 or so- I think it's more a personality thing than a guy thing. I"m sure all of mine are forever damaged and will need therapy someday.

Soon you won't win at anything against them, so live it up now.

Sorry about your headache! I once read that one thing that can trigger a headache is a sudden drop in stress level. I think you might just have been to relaxed! :lmao:

Have you really read that? I definitely did have a sudden drop in stress, but the headache was starting before that.

:goodvibes

I don't remember about POR....the last time we were there it was only for one day, and we didn't even buy our mugs until we got to Kidani, so I'm not sure where you can fill them up at POR.

That's exactly me too! When I was reading your post, Mikki was standing next to me, and we both said at the same time. "Hmmmm....looks just like an ordinary pool!". Especially in the first picture. When you add the pyramid, it does get better somewhat, but for me it just lacks something.

I was surprised that there wasn't more "stuff". The waterfall on the pyramid is nice, but just decorative. I knew that ahead of time, but was still hoping for some fun/neat things.

We are staying at Saratoga Springs. Not what I would pick but my parents have points with RCI and RCI has an exchange with SS and that's what was available. (plus we don't have to pay= me :woohoo:) I have to admit, it's a bit overwhelming at first. I have two boys; Aidan is 4 and Logan is 3. Aidan just recently started begging to go to WDW. He even wrote it on his report at school..the one thing he wishes for is to go to WDW. They have no idea they are going. They know they are going on a surprise trip but dont know where it is. We plan on telling them the day of, well DH plans on that - for me, it gets harder and harder not to tell them. The only reason I haven't told them yet is because I don't want to constantly hear "When are we going to Disney?"

I have some ADR's booked but I feel like I am constantly changing my mind. Throw in a change in our flights due to a Southwest sale (now have $150 credit on southwest) which will now have us there in the morning. So I am reading every day, trying to figure out what will work best for us and go from there. We are going to the MNSSHP which I know the boys will LOVE! I can see how this becomes an addiction, I mean obsession. ;)

Glad to hear the headache went away enough for you to make it to the pool
It is creepy how they called both you and your wife. Looking forward to the next post.
