The Moist Exhausting Free Trip Ever - Link to Part II Thread pg. 244

Darn! Liesa beat me. Two Judy's.

I'm with Judy...I did Mission: Space once and that was enough! Joe loved it though, and plans to ride it again this trip. I'll hang in the gift shop and do a All7OfUs picture with Henry instead! :thumbsup2

I sure hope Judy was feeling well enough for your lunch ADR...

Gee, you're going to make me go back and make up an answer key.

< 2 minute pause....hum the Jeopardy music to yourself or something >

Hmmmm. Anyone else want to submit an entry before I get back to Marv?

Judy loved it there, so it looks like we'll be going back. I now know what I have to stick with!

Will you know at ADR-time if you're going to REALLY want a burger 180 days out?

I think they do. I remember that last year my nephew ordered the chicken and had a choice of vegetable. I don't remember what choices he had, but he got collard greens. :crazy2:  :sad2: And didn't finish them. At least it made for a fun moment with our server, Cousin Joey.

We really enjoyed it.

I was probably 10 when I saw that....I don't even remember what show it was on....but that's the kind of stuff I remember.

Yep, you called it. I knew that burgers were recommended, but since I'd had one the day before I went with the turkey sandwich. I thought it was a safe choice.

Judy has since said that she'd like to go back there, so I know for next time.

Nope....but it will be revealed in the next chapter!

Great Sci-fi update & pictures. Yep, seems like burgers & onion rings are the only way to go here! Do they have cherry coke too??????? I love a good cherry coke!!!!

I know this is old, but I just caught up! I enjoyed the BBQ beef sandwich, too. The shrimp pasta, not so much.
Rosie, the milkshakes are wonderful, and last time they let us use them for a dessert credit!

These are really fun updates Glenn! First, congrats to Judy! I know it is an accomplishment to earn the trip - My company is Arbonne and DH and I will be going on our company cruise to Jamaica in Oct! I would love them to do WDW sometime! I think I'll send then your TR! :rotfl2:

I love the sea of red shirts! So cool!
Funny how James decided to skip so many rides. Just a phase, I'm sure.
I loved the Star Wars Hoopla (? Sorry, it's late) I don't remember that when we were there in 2007 with my nephew who loves SW. So funny!
My DSIS was also a casualty on MM on the orange side when we rode. Makes for a long day if you can't regroup. I'm glad Judy was able to eat later, I think?

Hopefully I won't be so behind after this!:goodvibes

I'm really looking forward to Brook's and Lieas's trips starting soon, it will give me a chance to maybe make at least one point....

I think sum of all thrills is something I would like to try sometime. And I hope Judy recovered fully for Biergarten! I can't wait for the review of your meal there...

Okay, after getting on a better computer and being able to really view the pictures, plus going back to the earlier TR update and checking out Judy's shoes, I'm going to revise my Judy count, but I think there are actually three Judy sightings in this edition of the glennbo TR.

Poor Donald. “Thank you sir. May I have another?!”- This cracked me up. Hopefully doesn't crack him up.

"Have you ever had the Aunt Jemima treatment?"

GREAT update and AWESOME pictures!

My husband and son tried Mission Space: Intense this year. We met up in the game area. Ben had a huge grin on his face. "I barfed. 3 times!" he declared proudly, as only a 9 year old can!

In our last chapter, we left off with the Glennbo family exiting the Magic Kingdom, pushing through the rope drop crowd, and letting them wonder how we had gotten inside of that glorious park before opening. We may not have spoken it, but our attitude said, "Sorry people, that's Classified information."
That's what I love about you, Glenn. Keeping folks guessing.

Then we went looking for Sum of All Thrills. With a 50-50 chance at correctly guessing which Innoventions building it was in, of course we guessed wrong and had to be directed to the other building.
Of course.

About the only part of the instructions that sank in was that we’d only have a couple of minutes to design, and if we weren’t done we’d get the “generic” (which translated to “lame” in my mind) ride.
That's exactly what I would guess too.

We finally had an “aha” on how to do it, and got a decently-thrilling coaster design done with only seconds to spare.
:music:
Take on me...take me on...

So, I of course started making Chaplin-esque faces, tilting my head with a far-off stare to get Lauren to laugh.
Now this I've got to see. Where's your photographic evidence?

It could be renamed “Some of the Thrills”.
That's not an uncommon response from this ride.

She said she knew 5 seconds into the ride, that this had been a very bad idea.
We have no one to blame but you, Glenn.

Then we went into the Mexico pavilion to go on the boat ride, “The Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros”.
I'm sorry.

While in line, I told the kids that the ride was kind of like a Mexican version of “It’s a Small World”.
Well, it USED to be. Now it just plain sucks.

Judy reminded us that the last time we rode IASM we got stuck on it, and that had better not happen to us on this one.
That would royally suck. Hard.

Poor Donald. “Thank you sir. May I have another?!”
Actually, I'll take a crack at that. After making me sit through that terrible ride.

heh, I said crack.

And then, as we approached the exit, just as had happened on our last trip on “It’s a Small World”, the ride stopped. We sat and listened as the three caballeros repeated their spiel over and over again.
Pure hell. I can only imagine the horror.

After the boat ride we still had some time before our ADR so decided to stay for the movie and learn a little something or two about Norway.
That's weird.

Apparently they were having technical difficulties so we gave up on the movie and left.
You gave it more effort than 99% of WDW guests.

Yep, she’s picking his nose. And I think it’s causing him to tighten his grip on James.
Yikes!

Up next: Biergarten, bathrooms, and Lost and Found
Ooh...bathrooms. One of my favorite topics!

You guys have never done Maelstrom before?
We love that ride!
"You are not the first to pass this way. Nor shall you be the last!"
So ominous for such a silly little ride.
And the kids love :lovestruc the trolls!
"Back, back - over the falls!"

And no mention of Soarin'?
Or was Judy done with thrill rides after Mission: Orange?
I've always been weary of getting sick from it so I've stayed on the Green Team.

/
Another great update. I WAS Judy the one and only time I rode Mission: Space -- only it took me 30 minutes to recover and I did not feel well for several hours (thankfully we did rides like Nemo and Figment afterwards so I could recover). Isn't it great having someone younge rto do the running and get the Fast Passes (one of the reasons I miss the kids not coming with us anymore).

Thanks.

I believe it. Lesson learned: when someone says they don't like spinning rides, don't take them on MS-Orange. Sorry to hear you had trouble too. When you were there, did you find somewhere to sit and recover?

Yes, it was wonderful having another fastpass volunteer!

Second: Did you know they have little bags of pretzels in a lot of the stores around WDW? Last time I picked them up, they were $.89! Cheapest eats in Disney! (Helps me when I get queasy from rides.)

No, I did not know that! Thanks!

Third: I'd like your opinion on the Sum of All Thrills if you don't mind. My boyfriend works for one of Raytheon's competitors, which is why we skipped it last time. But I think the geek in him would like it. He hates roller coasters because of the drops (he calls them death machines actually.) How much does it drop you? And would the geek in him be satisfied?

I think he'd enjoy it. You can program it for however you want, so he wouldn't have to put any drops in. But he may actually like standing and watching it even more; when you're on the ride you can't see the robot arm working.

I get the geek thing. No, not me -- in a previous life (pre-kids), Judy was an engineer for a heavy machinery company and programmed robots (metal lathes and cutting tools in manufacuring "cells") to make parts. Once we had kids she became a stay-at-home-mom.

NO Judy's!

Marvin, Marvin, Marvin. :sad2:

Obviously you didn't tell her who invented the game, or she might have felt differently knowing the stalker from last year's trip was involved.:rotfl2:

Believe me, I rolled that piece of information around in my head and decided that less is more.

Another great update! I avoided the Orange line on M:S last time we were there. DH rode it and he confirmed that it would be too much for my timid tummy. So sorry for Judy! That is NOT a fun feeling. Ugh!

Thank you. It's funny how it affects people differently. Lauren and I rode it last year and it was no big deal to us (until we went on it a couple of times in a row).

Quite possibly the best photograph op in EPCOT, I'd say. That, AND picking the trolls nose. ;) Don't you love when that spontaneous, fun stuff happens?!

I couldn't believe what I was seeing when I took that picture. Yep, that spontaneous fun is the best, but you can't plan for it, you've just gotta let it happen.

That look on Marlene's face cracks me up. Like she's got poisonous troll slime on her hand.

She's the actress.

BTW, how was Judy's first couple of days?? And the kids??

Judy's doing great, well they're all doing great. That Sunday night and Monday morning were a DISASTER. Probably the worst school morning ever (although there was an episode with bugs a number of years ago is in the running), first day or any day. But it's been fine every since.

Oh, and I think there IS at least one Judy, and possibly 2 if I read that right. That was she and James riding SoAT and you can see her feet (barely) in both.

I believe 2 is the correct answer, although I see that Marvin is making a case for a third. I'm not sure where that might be, but I could have missed one. Right now, you're the winner of this round's points, pending Marvin's appeal.

Great update!!

Oh Tracy, your quotes got lost when I quoted. Let's see...Scotty beaming you up -- yes! That's just what it's like! Mission Space -- Judy was a trooper, I felt bad that she ah, felt bad. Norway movie -- yeah we sat there drumming our fingers, looking at our watches, "c'mon already!"

Great photos of the ball.

I'm with Judy when it comes to MS. Can't do it and I'm glad I've never tried. DH loves it.

Thanks. Everyone takes artsy photos of the ball.

She rode MS-Green and didn't have a problem last year. Now I believe her when she says she can't handle spinning rides. Sounds like you should avoid it, as you have been.

Smart move on getting the fp for Malestorm. The line does back up when it's crowded. Cute troll pictures. The kids always have to stop for photos. I have one of Brent picking his nose too.

I felt pretty smart having a fastpass. The people waiting in line were like "Who's this? You can't pass us! Nobody gets a fastpass for this ride!"

That troll must have the cleanest nose in Florida with all the people working on it.

Darn! Liesa beat me. Two Judy's.

You're usually in the thick of it, but not quick enough this time.

I'm with Judy...I did Mission: Space once and that was enough! Joe loved it though, and plans to ride it again this trip. I'll hang in the gift shop and do a All7OfUs picture with Henry instead! :thumbsup2

I'm looking forward to that photo!

I sure hope Judy was feeling well enough for your lunch ADR...

Next chapter! popcorn::

I know this is old, but I just caught up! I enjoyed the BBQ beef sandwich, too. The shrimp pasta, not so much.
Rosie, the milkshakes are wonderful, and last time they let us use them for a dessert credit!

Yep, good restaurant but you have to know what to order. Milkshakes...mmmm.

These are really fun updates Glenn! First, congrats to Judy! I know it is an accomplishment to earn the trip - My company is Arbonne and DH and I will be going on our company cruise to Jamaica in Oct! I would love them to do WDW sometime! I think I'll send then your TR! :rotfl2:

Thanks! Congrats to you! I know it's not easy. Your cruise will be a blast.

I'm not sure how long they've done Hoopla. A couple of years, but I'm not sure if it was being done in '07.

Judy being able to go on a couple of boat rides was a good sign.

Hopefully I won't be so behind after this!:goodvibes

No worries. Read/post when you can.

I'm really looking forward to Brook's and Lieas's trips starting soon, it will give me a chance to maybe make at least one point....

That's right, you haven't gotten on the board yet. Hmmm, we might have to fix that.

I think sum of all thrills is something I would like to try sometime. And I hope Judy recovered fully for Biergarten! I can't wait for the review of your meal there...

I think you'd probably like "Sum", at least to try it once.

I had a Biergraten review in last year's TR. I probably went into more detail in that one than I plan on for this one (but I haven't written it yet, so who knows).

Okay, after getting on a better computer and being able to really view the pictures, plus going back to the earlier TR update and checking out Judy's shoes, I'm going to revise my Judy count, but I think there are actually three Judy sightings in this edition of the glennbo TR.

I thought there was 2, which were Judy's shoes while she and James were on "Sum of All Thrills", but I could be wrong...where do you think the third one is? I see a red-shirted person in a reflection in one of the "Sum" pictures, but it's not her....I took all of those pictures while we were waiting for her and James to go through the line and design their coaster ride.

Oh, and I think there IS at least one Judy, and possibly 2 if I read that right. That was she and James riding SoAT and you can see her feet (barely) in both.

I know I am late but 2 Judys, final answer.

Poor Donald. “Thank you sir. May I have another?!”- This cracked me up. Hopefully doesn't crack him up.

"Have you ever had the Aunt Jemima treatment?"

Oh yes, I remember the Aunt Jemima treatment! If they'd had a spatula instead of a stick, you'd see it.

GREAT update and AWESOME pictures!

My husband and son tried Mission Space: Intense this year. We met up in the game area. Ben had a huge grin on his face. "I barfed. 3 times!" he declared proudly, as only a 9 year old can!

Thanks. Oh my gosh -- 3 times?! Gross. I can't imagine being a cast member working that ride. They must get to "clean a capsule" a couple of times a day.

That's what I love about you, Glenn. Keeping folks guessing.

And then post everything on the DIS.

Of course.

Murphy's Law was in full-force.

:music:
Take on me...take me on...

Take on me...

One of the all-time best music videos.

Now this I've got to see. Where's your photographic evidence?

Unfortunately it's only in black and white.

We have no one to blame but you, Glenn.

I know. I know.

Actually, I'll take a crack at that. After making me sit through that terrible ride.

heh, I said crack.

heh heh!

Pure hell. I can only imagine the horror.

And we were so close to the end. I thought about getting out of the boat, but remembered about the ride nazi's you've experienced.

That's weird.

You gave it more effort than 99% of WDW guests.

You can tell that we still had some time to kill.

Ooh...bathrooms. One of my favorite topics!

We will not be discussing which way a woman wearing a wedding dress should face...that's already been covered on other threads.

You guys have never done Maelstrom before?
We love that ride!
"You are not the first to pass this way. Nor shall you be the last!"
So ominous for such a silly little ride.
And the kids love :lovestruc the trolls!
"Back, back - over the falls!"

No, we've been to WDW a number of times, but still have lots of "firsts". I knew about the falls, but didn't tell James about it for fear he'd chicken out.

And no mention of Soarin'?
Or was Judy done with thrill rides after Mission: Orange?
I've always been weary of getting sick from it so I've stayed on the Green Team.

I should have mentioned that -- we've done Soarin' a bunch of times, and like it, but it's not a 'must do' at this point. We wanted to spend some time in Innoventions and some other things that we hadn't done before.

As Rosie told on her thread, Liesa said that it was rumored that the old ladies make the stuff by squeezing it in their armpits. :scared1: She believes it to be an unfounded rumor.
mmm so did yours have a little bit of liesas armpit hair in yours.
:lmao:

One of the times that I've laughed the hardest was at a "yankee swap" Christmas gift exchange at work. But I couldn't laugh until we left the room because the gift in question wasn't a gag gift. My boss and I were seated on each side of a contractor who was working in our group and was in the gift exchange. He opened the gift he ended up with, (oh I should preface this by saying there were lots of gag gifts and people making fun of what they opened) and it was a pair of wine glasses that were hand-painted, but they looked like they were painted by kindergartener with a toothbrush, using their left hand. It was like time went into slow-motion, because both my boss and I knew that our VP had said that she hand-paints wine glasses as a hobby, and realized that these must be from her. So before he could say anything he would regret, we started kicking him and whispering "they're from XXXXX". Fortunately, he pulled it together and said how nice they were. Then we all howled back in the office.
thats great, at least you were quick enough to give him a heads up, but it might have been funny as well if he said something...like hey thanks for giving me the kids craft project guys.

great update glenn, i have to ask though, why did you go for the TT fast passes instead of the soarin ones? we always find it is pretty good to get the soarin ones then go ride TT in stand by, seems not many people in the TT line that early and can usually get on in about 25 minutes, especially since the fast pass is not letting people in till at least 10:00 to slow the line down.

hey u were smart like us and got FP's for norway, i would never wait more than 5 minutes to get on that one, just not that good.

and really cant wait to see how you liked germany for lunch, and see what you ate.
popcorn::

Oh my gosh -- 3 times?! Gross. I can't imagine being a cast member working that ride. They must get to "clean a capsule" a couple of times a day.

According to my DH, he did it "cleanly", if that is possible. He made great use of the bags provided. But the two people who were sharing the capsule with them went out the other way!

We may not have spoken it, but our attitude said, "Sorry people, that's Classified information."
Maybe, but your shirts screamed "Pampered Chef Party!" ;)

About the only part of the instructions that sank in was that we’d only have a couple of minutes to design...
:rotfl: Oh good, I'm not alone then!

It could be renamed “Some of the Thrills”.
::yes:: Perfect.

We soon found Judy and the girls walking very slowly and Judy wasn’t looking so good. She had just become our second casualty of the trip. She said she knew 5 seconds into the ride, that this had been a very bad idea.
Poor Judy! :sad1:

Up next: Biergarten, bathrooms, and Lost and Found
That's an iffy combination... :scared:

Thanks.

I believe it. Lesson learned: when someone says they don't like spinning rides, don't take them on MS-Orange. Sorry to hear you had trouble too. When you were there, did you find somewhere to sit and recover?

Yes, it was wonderful having another fastpass volunteer!

No; I vividly remember that they have benches when you leave Star Tours right outside the doors when you exit the ride, but for MS you had to go outside to find a bench (and that's where I parked my big old butt for quite some time).

Poor Judy! Thats why I have stayed away from MS. I can't handle spinning rides!

Yeah, she wasn't in too good of shape after that. Sounds like you're wise to steer clear.

mmm so did yours have a little bit of liesas armpit hair in yours.
:lmao:

I haven't really "dug in" to find out. None were visible upon inspection of the rock's exterior.

thats great, at least you were quick enough to give him a heads up, but it might have been funny as well if he said something...like hey thanks for giving me the kids craft project guys.

Knowing the personalities involved, we did the right thing. The VP was not a kidder.

great update glenn, i have to ask though, why did you go for the TT fast passes instead of the soarin ones? we always find it is pretty good to get the soarin ones then go ride TT in stand by, seems not many people in the TT line that early and can usually get on in about 25 minutes, especially since the fast pass is not letting people in till at least 10:00 to slow the line down.

That's what we did last year, but this year we opted to skip Soarin'. I know, you can't believe it. We've ridden it enough that it's okay to skip now. We wanted to spend more time on new things.

hey u were smart like us and got FP's for norway, i would never wait more than 5 minutes to get on that one, just not that good.

Yep. I was wondering if my time up and back to Norway from Mexico for the fastpass was a good trade-off versus waiting in line, but it turned out that it was.

and really cant wait to see how you liked germany for lunch, and see what you ate.
popcorn::

Food porn!

According to my DH, he did it "cleanly", if that is possible. He made great use of the bags provided. But the two people who were sharing the capsule with them went out the other way!

Your son's got mad skillz, obviously!

The other people in the capsule got a very realistic space ride. I hope that appreciated that.

Maybe, but your shirts screamed "Pampered Chef Party!" ;)

Oh yeah, forgot about that. I guess maybe it wasn't tooooo Classified.

:rotfl: Oh good, I'm not alone then!

No, not at all. The briefing room didn't really help with how to do the programming.

Actually I looked back at your chapter on "Sum" because I didn't know if I'd read "Some of the Thrills" on your TR or if I'd thought of it on my own.

That's an iffy combination... :scared:

Don't want you worrying too much, so I'll let you know that everyone got home safely at the end of the week.

No; I vividly remember that they have benches when you leave Star Tours right outside the doors when you exit the ride, but for MS you had to go outside to find a bench (and that's where I parked my big old butt for quite some time).

Interesting! What is up with that? I wasn't really sure if we'd missed a bench because I didn't walk all the way back down the hallway since I met Judy along the way. I'd think MS would have more queasy people  than Star Tours. I couldn't believe that the best place we had to sit was some stairs.

I'm not very good at the multiple quoting - but I am pretty good at random rambling - so here goes....

James and the Sum (Some) of all Thrills. Got a kick out of him bailing on the "thrill" part of it and bargaining for a tame version. A few years back we took the kids to Disney Quest. My older 2 paired up for Cyber Space Mountain and I went with my youngest (DH wanted no part of it :sad2:). The older 2 made a decent coaster and had a good time. My youngest picked only mildest options available to us. So we waited in line for our turn to ride the roller coaster we built, crawled into our capsule and sat...... every once in a while we might tilt forward or backwards ever so slightly - but we didn't twist or roll or spin......we sat :rolleyes1 Even he was disappointed in it. Fortunately we had a nice CM at our door and he let us go again and plugged in one of the pre-made choices for us.

Mission Space - before we started bringing a friend along with the boys (so we would have even numbers) I would ride the Orange side with them while DH would go get fastpasses somewhere. He rode Orange once (I think back when that was the only option there was). I discovered I can ride Orange once in any given day. If I try to ride it a 2nd time in a 24 hour period there will be some sitting down and re-grouping afterwards. Now we bring a 4th kid and I go on the Green side. (Which it really should be the other way around - because more people turn green  after the Orange side than they do the Green side)

Leaving Magic Kingdom before opening.....It would be my luck that that would be the day that I hustle everybody out the door to make it to MK by rope drop so we can get a lot done before the fastpasses are gone, and a lot of people get there - only to find the park already full....and people leaving already

Love the trolls!

Poor Donald :donald:

And as for the dip - thanks for your research. If Mark (otherwise known as "youngest son") insists on me making it, I will send him on the mission to get a more accurate recipe than the original answer that he got.:thumbsup2

Loving your report - sounds like you all have a lot of fun together (minus Judy's yucky MS after-effects)

You're usually in the thick of it, but not quick enough this time.

I know, I know. I blame the whole "going to Disney" thing and the "3rd Birthday" dealy-o. My priorities are way outta wack. ;)

I missed Marv's case for a 3rd. I think he's just making it up, jealous. ;)
