The Moist Exhausting Free Trip Ever - Link to Part II Thread pg. 244

Hey Glen - finally found this one.
It was great to meet you guys over the weekend as well!
And we definitely want copies of the pics too!! :goodvibes

Great to meet you too. We had a really fun time. I'll be in touch regarding pictures.

Oh, and :welcome: to the TR!

JEN! You ain't kidding. It was great to meet you and Bubba, as well as all of the others who came to lunch. I was sorry to see you two leave, but catching a plane is important.

I guess it's important. Although .... if we missed the plane it would've given us a reason to stay :rolleyes1

We were able to help her some, although not all of the work got done, and this morning was a disaster -- missed school bus, the whole thing.

First day of school is always the hardest. Yikes! Missing the bus really sucks :headache: Hope they all get back into the swing of things. I hope Judy enjoyed herself yesterday. It was lovely to meet her too. How did the ride home go? ;)

Could I give you my e-mail address to send the pictures to?

That's the spirit!

It was not a good morning.

Judy did enjoy herself at the meet. The ride home was fine. Just had to explain the "find Judy" contest to her. :rolleyes1

Could I give you my e-mail address to send the pictures to?

Yep. PM me.

so when will we see some pictures of the weekend glenn?

:goodvibes

I'll try to get them posted over lunch. Let me go heat up some leftovers, and I'll get right on it.

aha, I hope she could see the amusing side of being a cult figure on the DIS??

Eating is really overrated - and leftovers taste good cold, too!! ;) Still waiting (im-)patiently for the pictures!!:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

I know you all are eager to see some pictures from the DC Meet yesterday, so here goes.

Judy and I were the last to arrive. For most of the trip, the GPS showed an estimated arrival time of about 12:10 (we were supposed to meet at 12:30), but about 6 miles from Bethesda traffic came to a crawl. We got off at the next exit and had the GPS calculate an alternate route for us. We eventually found our meeting spot, The Daily Grill, (chosen for its convenient location to a Metro stop) and walked in fashionably late at about 12:40.

In attendance for lunch was Liesa (All7OfUs), Rosie (EnglishRose), Tracy (TrayRene), Rob (MyPalPluto) and a friend, Jen (Jenbear123) and her sister “Bubba”, Jen (Jenb123) and her husband and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Capell (thecapells), and Judy and I (glennbo123). We had a perfect meeting room for lunch, off from the main dining area, so our carrying on didn’t disturb the other diners. As I approached the room, at first I only saw the people I didn’t know, spouses or people I hadn’t seen pictures of on the DIS. But then I saw Rosie, and Tracy, and Liesa, and Jen and Bubba! Bubba was right near the door, so the first thing I said was, “You’re Bubba!” And to think that I was worried, back before our June trip to WDW. I was afraid that if I ran into Bubba I wouldn’t know what to say to her, not knowing her real name.

We talked and laughed for quite a while before the first camera came out. Meanwhile, I was itching to start photo-documenting this historic occasion.

Just before the food was served, Liesa got out some gift bags to give everyone, so with that, all the cameras came out.

Jenb123’s daughter, Jenb, her husband, and Liesa.

That famous Canadian “thumbs up”.

IMG_4363.jpg

Rosie with a hat (I forget the name of it…turk-something?) that Liesa brought her from Blankistan, and Tracy behind her.

IMG_4364.jpg

Jenbear sporting hers.

IMG_4365.jpg

I don’t even remember taking this next picture. I’m serious. But it cracks me up! I think Rosie was trying to do the Jordan tongue-thing. Liesa gave us all these glasses.

IMG_4367.jpg

Then when the food came out, it was a photo feeding frenzy. The staff at this restaurant had never seen anything like it, I’m sure. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.

My penne with basil pesto and pine nuts.

Judy’s blackened tilapia and mashed potatoes.

Our lovely Meet organizer.

My blurry picture of Jenbear’s photography technique.

IMG_4374.jpg

A group shot.

IMG_4375.jpg

And one without flash. Rosie yelled out “I won’t flash!”

IMG_4376.jpg

After we ate I knew that the young ladies from Canada would have to leave to catch their flight, so I asked for a picture. First we did a pouty one, but I couldn’t keep a straight face.

IMG_4378.jpg

Then a happy one.

In the next post, we take our show on the road…

After lunch, Jenbear and Bubba headed for the airport, and the Capells and Jenb’s family each had to leave. The rest of went on an adventure on the Metro to see our fair Capitol. There were 7 of us left to go into D.C., and as we changed trains at Metro Center, we reassembled and asked, “Do we have all 7 of us?” (All7OfUs is Liesa’s screen name.)

Here’s Rosie talking with Rob and his friend on the Metro.

IMG_4380.jpg

Liesa and Tracy.

IMG_4382.jpg

Now for this next one I was really slow on the uptake. They had Rosie take this picture of them because the guy near them, in the blue shirt, was a peep who looked just like Jordan. I didn’t notice him, so didn’t get him in the picture.

IMG_4383.jpg

We told Tracy that it was really cool how when you come up out of the Metro at the Smithsonian stop that you’re right there, on the mall. And when we came up she went, “Oh cool! We’re right here on the mall!!”

IMG_4384.jpg

We only had a couple of hours before we needed to go back, so we picked the National Museum of American History to explore. I didn’t take a lot of pictures in there, but had to take a picture of this piece of Disney memorabilia.

IMG_4385.jpg

And so did Liesa. I think that’s her anti-jitter technique.

IMG_4386.jpg

I guess Kermit kind of counts as Disney memorabilia, since Disney bought the rights to the muppets.

IMG_4389.jpg

Here you can see Rosie, Tracy, Liesa, and Judy admiring the First Lady’s ball gowns.

IMG_4390.jpg

And, finally bags and shoes make an appearance in a Glennbo trip report!

IMG_4391.jpg

My last picture was taken as our crew was making their way to see the World War II memorial. Sadly, just after this picture was taken Judy and I decided that we needed to leave them earlier than planned so that we could go home and help with homework before our kids’ first day of school the next day.

IMG_4392.jpg

It was a great time and I wish we could have stayed longer. Also, I wanted to get a picture with each of us in our group and somehow never got to that. So, we will just have to meet again sometime!

Edited to add: I almost forgot this last picture that I took after I got home of the nice gifts that Liesa gave us. Some tea, chocolate, the crazy sunglasses, and an unusual item that looks like a rock (but isn't). I saw that Magadene received one too and posted asking if anyone could guess what it was, so I won't divulge the answer yet.

Glen, thanks so much for sharing the pics. It looks like you all had a great DIS meet. I love the pics of the group with the glasses.

Looks like such a fun meet! I love the group shot with everyone sportin' the sunglasses. :cool2:

Thanks for posting all of the great pictures and mini-TR! :goodvibes

What a WONDERFUL meet!! Ahhh, it makes me a bit teary eyed that I wasn't there to join in on the fun.

Sigh.

NEXT TIME! ::yes::

The food looked delicious, and the company even better. :goodvibes

P.S. I am loving the shoes and bags! :yay::rotfl:

P.P.S. So someone brought up the "Find Judy" game at the meet???? That is soooo funny! How ever did you explain that to Judy??? We LOVE her!

I see four Judy's.

However, not knowing what type of shoes Judy was wearing, the reflection the flip flops in this picture may also be her?

:rotfl2:

Nope, not her flip flops...she was wearing some kind of sneaker things. She's not reflected in that picture.

4 is correct!

What a great meet! I've only met one Diser, but of course he was the most famous one of all Jordan.

Love all the pictures especially the one with the glasses. Liesa did a great job organizing this.

Thought of you this week-end - well, actually of Judy. DH and I and youngest son had gone on a bus trip to Cincinnati for the Cubs - Reds games over the weekend. We went to the hotel before the game on Saturday and our bus group had a little cocktail party. One of the gals brought what she said was a "Pampered Chef herbed cheese ball" It was wonderful - youngest son told me I need to find out how to make it. I have never been to a Pampered Chef party and don't know any distributors around here - but thought  "Glenn's wife sells Pampered Chef - I can ask him about it." So, consider yourself asked....;)

You're welcome! It was a lot of fun, and not nearly enough time.

It definitely was. You're welcome, I know everybody likes seeing everybody else.

Good thing you're going on vaca. soon.....to give others a chance. ;)

What a great meet! I've only met one Diser, but of course he was the most famous one of all Jordan.

Yes it was!
Oh, I forgot to include in my write-up that we all signed a card for him.

She did!

All right...I'll ask the boss. I haven't heard of that one.

Judy and I were the last to arrive.

Yeah, way to go Glen :p

For most of the trip, the GPS showed an estimated arrival time of about 12:10 (we were supposed to meet at 12:30), but about 6 miles from Bethesda traffic came to a crawl. We got off at the next exit and had the GPS calculate an alternate route for us.

See we weren't smart enough to do that. The traffic was terrible! We passed the scene of an accident but that was only part of the traffic. The other hold up must've been purely due to volume.

As I approached the room, at first I only saw the people I didn’t know, spouses or people I hadn’t seen pictures of on the DIS.

That happened to us too! I was thinking "Ummm I don't know any of you..."

Bubba was right near the door, so the first thing I said was, “You’re Bubba!” And to think that I was worried, back before our June trip to WDW. I was afraid that if I ran into Bubba I wouldn’t know what to say to her, not knowing her real name.

:rotfl2: It wasn't so bad! I warned Bubba that everyone would be calling her that.

Meanwhile, I was itching to start photo-documenting this historic occasion.

One for the history books for sure.

Rosie with a hat (I forget the name of it…turk-something?)

Takia (sp?) That's at least how it's pronounced. I'm sure Liesa can correct us on that.

My penne with basil pesto and pine nuts.

IMG_4371.jpg

Great choice ;)

After we ate I knew that the young ladies from Canada would have to leave to catch their flight, so I asked for a picture. First we did a pouty one, but I couldn’t keep a straight face.

IMG_4378.jpg

It's all I could do to keep a pouty face. Hilarious! :lmao:

I'm so bummed we missed out on that museum! Looks like a great place!!! I love all the pictures. Oh my gosh it was so much fun. We could've stayed and talked for hours. If only our schedules could coincide so we could all take a trip to Disney. That would be A-mazing  Great pictures Glen!
