I know you all are eager to see some pictures from the DC Meet yesterday, so here goes.
Judy and I were the last to arrive. For most of the trip, the GPS showed an estimated arrival time of about 12:10 (we were supposed to meet at 12:30), but about 6 miles from Bethesda traffic came to a crawl. We got off at the next exit and had the GPS calculate an alternate route for us. We eventually found our meeting spot, The Daily Grill, (chosen for its convenient location to a Metro stop) and walked in fashionably late at about 12:40.
In attendance for lunch was Liesa (All7OfUs), Rosie (EnglishRose), Tracy (TrayRene), Rob (MyPalPluto) and a friend, Jen (Jenbear123) and her sister “Bubba”, Jen (Jenb123) and her husband and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Capell (thecapells), and Judy and I (glennbo123). We had a perfect meeting room for lunch, off from the main dining area, so our carrying on didn’t disturb the other diners. As I approached the room, at first I only saw the people I didn’t know, spouses or people I hadn’t seen pictures of on the DIS. But then I saw Rosie, and Tracy, and Liesa, and Jen and Bubba! Bubba was right near the door, so the first thing I said was, “You’re Bubba!” And to think that I was worried, back before our June trip to WDW. I was afraid that if I ran into Bubba I wouldn’t know what to say to her, not knowing her real name.
We talked and laughed for quite a while before the first camera came out. Meanwhile, I was itching to start photo-documenting this historic occasion.
Just before the food was served, Liesa got out some gift bags to give everyone, so with that, all the cameras came out.
Jenb123’s daughter, Jenb, her husband, and Liesa.
The Capells, Judy, Tracy, Rob’s friend, Rob, the top of Bubba’s head, Jenbear, Jenb’s daughter, and Jenb.
Bubba, Jenbear, Rosie, Jenb’s daughter.
That famous Canadian “thumbs up”.
Rosie with a hat (I forget the name of it…turk-something?) that Liesa brought her from Blankistan, and Tracy behind her.
Jenbear sporting hers.
I don’t even remember taking this next picture. I’m serious. But it cracks me up! I think Rosie was trying to do the Jordan tongue-thing. Liesa gave us all these glasses.
Then when the food came out, it was a photo feeding frenzy. The staff at this restaurant had never seen anything like it, I’m sure. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.
My penne with basil pesto and pine nuts.
Judy’s blackened tilapia and mashed potatoes.
Our lovely Meet organizer.
My blurry picture of Jenbear’s photography technique.
A group shot.
And one without flash. Rosie yelled out “I won’t flash!”
After we ate I knew that the young ladies from Canada would have to leave to catch their flight, so I asked for a picture. First we did a pouty one, but I couldn’t keep a straight face.
Then a happy one.
In the next post, we take our show on the road…
