The Moist Exhausting Free Trip Ever - Link to Part II Thread pg. 244

Holy COW!! My DH worked with ODOT (Oregon DOT) for 12 years as an engineeing geologist before we left!! Whenever the mountains began to melt, he would do the TV gig that always went something like this:

interviewer: "So Mike, can you tell us what caused today's landslide?"

Mike: "Sure. It rained."

Anyway, we understand your pain!

Hopefully he just threw in the words "hydrologic" and "percolation" until the interviewer looked like
durr.gif

:lmao: Yeah, sorry 'bout that; got you totally sucked in there!! :rotfl2:

I guess I don't look at the signs at WDW as closely as I thought I did.

Hilarious installment- especially regarding the post-storm bus jam! I so hated the crowded buses on our last trip, that I'm trying to encourage DH to consider driving to some of the parks.

Thanks! I'm not ready to go that route yet, renting a car I mean, but I'm hoping to avoid any more bus trips like that one. However, the trip I'm writing about isn't done yet...:rolleyes1

No need when I can manipulate you into doing it to yourself!!! :rolleyes1 (yeah, yeah, that's it!)

You got lucky on that one.

OK, you heard it here first. ....... I ALMOST!! (a very large emphasis on THAT word) have mty DH talked into letting me register for the Princess Half. That's all I'm saying now.

But how does that help me?

Seriously though, that'd be great if you could go. More Disney, and a running goal to boot.

Great updates, Glenn! I was three behind, so I'll admit to using the links to catch up... :rolleyes1

Good for you for jogging around CSR! Twice! I saw lots of people jogging while I was there, and it really made me wish that I jogged, too. Or exercised at all, for that matter.

re: Disney conditioner's similarity to kindergarten paste :rotfl:

You couldn't be more right about this. I found myself wondering, in the shower, which would be slower to get out of a bottle in an official test -- Disney conditioner or Heinz ketchup? I'd put my money on the conditioner. I had lots of time to think about it while I was in there trying to figure out how the he** to get to the conditioner. I tried using the glass ketchup bottle technique (hitting upward where the "57" would be) to get some sort of flow going, to no avail. I banged on the bottom of the bottle. No dice. I shook it vigorously in a style that would've looked vulgar under different circumstances. I wondered if the whole process would be easier with three hands, and thought this might turn into the biggest drawback of solo traveling. Finally I figured out that I could just stick my finger in there. It's taken me how many WDW trips to finally make this discovery? Sad, really.

I love your picture on BTMRR of James winking and thumbs-upping, with the girls in the background with their arms in the air. Awesome!

I would like to point out to Jeffro, on the off chance he frequents these boards, that Disney food pictures are certainly not a sign of WDW-virgins! Rather, they're the sign of diehard, seasoned WDW travelers, such as ourselves. Tourists! Sheesh! :lmao:

Now, Ranger Joe seems really great, and I get that he's a WL celebrity. But I don't know how I feel about rangers carrying laser pointers. Next thing you know, they'll be driving Segways around instead of riding horses.

And nearly two hours to get from WL to AKL???!!! :faint:

Ranger Joe!!!!!! :worship::worship::worship: That man is a god! He has the best customer service anywhere. He seriously loves his job! I am so glad you got to meet him.

The transportation sounds horrible. Yuck - way too much time on the bus, but at least you finally made it to Kidani! Can't wait to hear about your villa. I love Kidani!

But how does that help me?

Seriously though, that'd be great if you could go. More Disney, and a running goal to boot.

Ummmm... sorry, can't help you there either! :lmao:

And yes, seriously, I would so love for this to work out. keeps me running, DH happy, and my lust for all things WDW fed.

Sorry for your commute through DTD! You summed up my feelings about Disney transportion very well. One thing I learned early on: never commute through DTD if it can be avoided at any cost. First of all: it is pretty out of the way from everywhere (besides PO and SSR), Second: it has at least two stops at DTD and the possible TL stop as well, Third: the traffic in that area can be really bad and your bus can be in a real traffic jam. So my advice is to always use a park unless all parks are already closed for the night. And if it is that late, I personally would consider getting taxi... You could have even taken a bus from WL to the MK... But bus from WL to AK and then bus to AKL would have worked better as well. I know that doesn't help after the fact, but just as friendly hint for your next trip and for your readers! :goodvibes I spent a few years as a regular reader/poster on the transportation board... :rolleyes1

I agree with that. DTD is a last resort. As many have already said, we have all had those kinds of bus rides but mine always seem to be when I am in a hurry.

And holding pinwheels out the window? :lmao:

Is it sad that I laugh everytime that I see that commercial?? Or is it worse that when we are forwarding through the commercials I have to stop and back up if I see that one??? :rotfl2:

The geico commercial

I dare you to watch it and not chuckle!

I full out :rotfl2::rotfl2:every time. I am laughing just thinking about it.
I have no idea why it tickles me so but I can't help it. I think it might be the voice of the pig after all the " Wheeeeeeing" or maybe just the visual of wee wee wee all the way home.

Okay, since I can't be funny, I'll just be here.

I'm all caught up, I think. It is so hard to skip all the banter - you guys had me :rotfl::lmao::rotfl2: this morning!

Toe shaving and sweating inside and I don't even know now.. Liesa you get the gold medal for funny this week :thumbsup2 (Marv you are a close 2nd in my book)

How fun that you got to see Dandi and Parker again! (oops I think the banana had a stroke!)
You got alot of MK in before lunch! Hint at Disney from a family member who has practically lived at DL his whole 55 years - GO LEFT - always go left - everyone else goes right! :3dglasses

I love the feel of WL! I thought I wouldn't be impressed because it is so much like home for us, (I mean the trees, not the building) But that's what we loved, a quiet oasis away from the parks for awhile - we will definately be staying there when we can! Ranger Joe sounds so fun! We probably would have missed out, because we sometimes don't converse with the CM's enough.

As for WCC - we thought our dinner there was the best on our last trip! :thumbsup2 We didn't order ketchup, but we were out on the little overflow area in the lobby, and I taught a table of kids next to us what to do when someone inside ordered ketchup. or is it Catsup?

My meat vote: Brisket if it's tender and the sauce is good, then chicken, then pulled pork, which according to Texas is not a meat - I don't do ribs much, too much fat.

Oh, and yes Glenn, your hair does look very shiny and manageable!!!

Looking forward to Kidani! popcorn::

You are so right. And my original plan was to boat to MK, then on to AKL. I should have just taken a bus to MK or AK. I think what I did, was consult the Mobile Magic phone app I have. And I've been meaning to talk about that app at some point, but haven't noticed a good spot to work it in. Anyway, most of the time when you consult it regarding transportation, it routes you through DTD, which I learned is a bad idea.

Well, it seems that you have learned a lot in the art of getting your way around on Disney transportation by now. But one thing I learned on the transportation board: never trust any automated transportation advice about WDW. The best thing is still: If you know that there is a way of transportation from every resort to every park, just look at a map of WDW and pick the park that makes the most sense as transit point. The problem is that there are so many variables, like park opening times or that Epcot does not make sense as a transit point for any of the Epcot resorts (you would have to walk through Epcot) or that if you go from GF to MK it is best to take the monorail, but if you go from MK to GF it is best to take the boat, etc. Perhaps I should write my own transportation guide?? New project for after I finished my TR! :goodvibes

It's good to have some sympathy. We have so many good stories about the things we get blamed for that are completely out of our control.

Fortunately, I don't really have to drive on 141, just cross it. But it's amazing how long it has taken (and is still taking). I've been wanting to ask you that. Are you familiar with that project though?

I'm not real familiar with it, actually. I'm sure I could get some details if I asked around, but I don't drive up that way a whole lot and the Northern Del. project guys sit in a different area than I do, so I don't talk to them a lot either. Maybe I'll take a stroll and give them crap for taking too long. :rotfl2:

Uh oh, I must be spending too much time on the DIS.....what commercial?

Looks like your other readers have taken care of this answer! :thumbsup2

It's not a lot of fun, and it doesn't take much for me to come up with an excuse to avoid it, unfortunately. :sad2:

:rotfl2: Hilarious write-up Nory! I should have had you write that part of my TR for me. I was picturing you trying all of those different attempts (but averted my eyes, of course  ). I confess that I laughed out loud at the "vulgar under different circumstances" comment.

Your story, figuring out something that wasn't really all that difficult to figure out, reminds me of something from my freshman year of college. (Don't worry this one's much worse than the revelation that occurred to you  ) About a month-in, a girl said that she learned from her roommates that when the bathroom mirror is foggy, you can use a blow dryer to clear it. I'm thinking "Duh"
durr.gif
But it got worse. She said she went home and showed her mom, who also didn't know you could do this, and her mom was happy that sending her daughter off to college was paying-off so quickly.

Right! I should have been treated like Anton Ego from "Ratatouille".

Now, Ranger Joe seems really great, and I get that he's a WL celebrity. But I don't know how I feel about rangers carrying laser pointers. Next thing you know, they'll be driving Segways around instead of riding horses.

You can't stand in the way of progress.

Yep. :faint:

That's pretty good. I don't know how I missed it, but I had not seen it.

Ranger Joe!!!!!! :worship: That man is a god! He has the best customer service anywhere. He seriously loves his job! I am so glad you got to meet him.

See, I knew you'd like this update, and would be familiar with the icon. I didn't get the roof tour (I didn't know about it then), but was happy that he spent some time showing us around.

The transportation sounds horrible. Yuck - way too much time on the bus, but at least you finally made it to Kidani! Can't wait to hear about your villa. I love Kidani!

We love Kidani too!

Ummmm... sorry, can't help you there either! :lmao:

And yes, seriously, I would so love for this to work out. keeps me running, DH happy, and my lust for all things WDW fed.

It'd be cool to run down Main St., even if I wasn't heading for a fastpass machine.

I agree with that. DTD is a last resort. As many have already said, we have all had those kinds of bus rides but mine always seem to be when I am in a hurry.

I was still learning, but I'll do better now!

I like how he's holding the pinwheels with those little cloven piggy-feet.

Oh Man! You took my joke! I was going to jump in here after not posting for a long time and post a random huge 6!!! for no reason.

Hi Tammie! See, that would've worked, but you've gotta be quick.

Glad you found a laugh or two. There are lots of funny people in DIS-land! I'm sending my congrats to Liesa, on her shout-out from Tammie. Oh, and also to Marv, ever the bridesmaid. :rotfl2:

How fun that you got to see Dandi and Parker again! (oops I think the banana had a stroke!)
You got alot of MK in before lunch! Hint at Disney from a family member who has practically lived at DL his whole 55 years - GO LEFT - always go left - everyone else goes right! :3dglasses

Yeah, I think I generally try to avoid that "right" towards Tomorrowland first-thing, but we knew that's where Dandi was heading (although we didn't connect) and Space Mountain was a MUST must.

An oasis is a good description for it. It's very peaceful there amongst all of those pine trees.

As for WCC - we thought our dinner there was the best on our last trip! :thumbsup2 We didn't order ketchup, but we were out on the little overflow area in the lobby, and I taught a table of kids next to us what to do when someone inside ordered ketchup. or is it Catsup?

You (and Dan) have me wishing I'd gotten to try that brisket. I think Great Biscuit agrees with you that pulled pork is not what they call "Bar-B-Que".

Oh, and yes Glenn, your hair does look very shiny and manageable!!!

Looking forward to Kidani! popcorn::

Why, thank you!

Good point on the automated transportation advice. I'll bet Disney uses their influence to have it route people the way they want them to go, not necessarily the fastest way.

I would love to have a Flossbolna Transportation Guide! ::yes::

It's good to have some sympathy. We have so many good stories about the things we get blamed for that are completely out of our control.

But now I know why I have always lost women to guys like you. I mean, it's not just the uniform. It's the stories that you tell. So much fun and imagination.

I'm not real familiar with it, actually. I'm sure I could get some details if I asked around, but I don't drive up that way a whole lot and the Northern Del. project guys sit in a different area than I do, so I don't talk to them a lot either. Don't go out of your way. But Chuck Norris would've had the project done by now, that's for sure.

Looks like your other readers have taken care of this answer! :thumbsup2

Yep, they were all over it.

Glad you got a kick out of it! When I think about all the time I've wasted fighting with the conditioner over the years...if you add it all up, I could've probably gotten a whole extra half hour in the parks!

And I never thought of that blow dryer trick. Clearly college was a waste of time for me! :rotfl:

Glad you got a kick out of it! When I think about all the time I've wasted fighting with the conditioner over the years...if you add it all up, I could've probably gotten a whole extra half hour in the parks!

You should put that description in that novel of yours.

And I never thought of that blow dryer trick. Clearly college was a waste of time for me! :rotfl:

Ooops. Now I'm embarrassed. I always thought it was inevitable that while you're standing there waiting for the mirror to clear that you'd think "hey, lemme blast this with the blow dryer and see if that does anything."

You probably had much better things to talk about at your college. :rotfl2:

that would be fun to do again when the time rolls around

were you involved in the one we did for parker?

No, I started following your antics during Parker's first trip.
