With another NYE here, was just thinking of our Millennium celebration at WDW; seems like yesterday. DVC had a lottery for accommodations on points over the 1999 holiday season. We entered on a whim and when our number came up, we decided there was no where we'd rather be.

We stayed at our home, OKW for a five days. As DVC members since 1995, we visit the parks once or twice a year; so, on NYE, we went to a special performance package of La Nouba at DTD. I think it ended about 11 pm and was followed by a dessert buffet behind the theater by the lake where all the cast members came out and mingled with the guests. At midnight, there were incredible fireworks right over our heads from Pleasure Island.

We have wonderful memories and great pictures of our then 9 year old (now 22) in a Mickey-ear top hat with lots of La Nouba performers. It was really special without braving the overwhelming crowds at the parks.

DVC, Thanks for the Memories!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! PEACE!

I was there that year too! We stayed at OKW with 8 people in a 2 bedroom for a week!

That was the year that I didn't want to go. I was afraid of the Y2K hype, and I was certain that there would be some sort of terrorist attack :-) (I was only 19 at the time, I read an article about it that freaked me out)

We went to Epcot, and ate lunch at Teppanyaki (Tepan Edo Today)

We got there by taking a bus to MGM, and then a boat to Boardwalk. We thought the crowds would be lighter at the International Gateway. We were backed up all the way to Stormalong Bay.

We staked a spot for fireworks early, and waited and waited and waited.

We actually ran into friends from home, so that part was fun!

When the fireworks happened there were so many that it was hard to see them through the smoke! It was only okay, but it was a GREAT place to spend New Years Eve!
