It’s AVENGERS Campus…not Marvel. I swear, they do anything for a buck…
Who am I kidding…it’s DISNEY. Hate the whole idea. We don’t need any random Marvel characters, of which there are multitudes hanging about.

They get rid of a bonafide AVENGER (Dr. Strange) to bring in an interloper,hoping to rake it more at the movies…never mind it’ll already be a huge success.

I agree, Tinkaboo. I'd rather have them keep Avengers and not bring anyone else in.

How is the Deadpool character at Avengers Campus JerrodDragon? Did you get to meet him? It's surprising that DCA would have a Deadpool character do meet and greets. If you ever meet Deadpool Jerrod please mention to him that your friend Dodger is his biggest fan and sends him some love

Where does this character's name comes from? It sounds like an environmental problem, like blue-green algae or a red tide.

Deadpool was created in the early 1990's by Rob Liefeld for the comic book X-Force (an X-men spin-off). Originally, the character was just a sort-of parody version of the DC Comics character Deathstroke (The Terminator), so I think the name was supposed to be a ridiculous version of that. Honestly, the character was originally kind of a throw-away joke character, but because of his generally cool look he became popular. He didn't quite become the over-the-top, fourth-wall breaking, ultra comedic character until a little later.

There is also a Dirty Harry movie called The Dead Pool, but I am not sure if that was an influence.

But you can look up his little show he does and he also appears in other shows in the land at random.

He got the name from his time as a failed test subject at a special experimental facility. There was a pool about who of the failed subjects would die first, aka dead pool. He of course didn't die, and took that up as his name.

Sorry, I should've clarified that that is the accepted canon explanation now, however. Definitely the Deathstroke (initially unintentional or not) ties you mentioned are there, esp. with the little Wade Wilson, a la Slade Wilson tongue in cheek homage!
