Just an FYI if you decide to go: You can substitute any meats on the combination platters. We pick the main entree that has teryaki sirlion (the best in our opinion), regular filet, chicken, shrimp, duck and portabello mushrooms. We then substitute the duck, regular filet, and the mushrooms for the teryaki sirlion. You can always ask for more veggies....you can also substitute the items on the dessert tray.

We did our first Melting Pot , here in fort lauderdale, I was not happy with the experience as a whole, there were different parts i enjoyed alot but i came out feeling still hungry after paying about $125 for 2 A and 1 C.

We got the Bread plate for starters which you dip in the cheese, that was really good! Loved this part!

then we got the main course which consisted of....lobster, beef, potatoes, mushrooms, shrimp, some other vegies, you have to actually cook each bite in oil , there is also breading you can use , it is good food but it takes so long to cook each bite.

Then we had the smores desert, and it got dipped in chocolate, it was awesome too! I could have done 2 of those.

If we were to ever go back i think we would just getappetizers and deserts.

There's a Melting Pot about 15 min. from us, and we've also been to the one in Asheville, NC. We liked the novelty, but it is quite expensive for what you get. The menu makes it sound like you're getting a ton of food, but you're not; the portions border on nouveau cuisine. The lobster tails are not much bigger than a jumbo shrimp. Dessert includes chocolate (of course), and the equivalent of about 1/4 slice of cubed pound cake, a couple of tiny slivers of cheesecake, brownies the size of large croutons, a few marshmallows, a couple piece of pineapple & a couple of strawberries.

A good friend of mine worked there in college, and once he taught me how to make cheese fondue properly (with no lumps!), we haven't been back.

We ate there last year on our trip and loved it. Yes stay away from expensive drinks that cost extra. We bought the dinner package that cost about 50.00 each. Incl cheese, main course 2 choices of meats and veggie, then chocolate for desert. We loved it and werre so stuffed. Don't opt to add a salad because you will get plenty of food wiht the meal. Also you can pay more and add fish or more expensive cuts of meat personally I think the chicken and beef in the original plan is great.

We ate at the one in Orlando off of I drive. do a goodle search and plan ahead. they may even have a menu online.

We've have always enjoyed the Melting Pot. I've gone to 2 differnent restaurants in the DC area. I have had more expensive and better food. But I enjoy fondue, I like the atsphomere and it's nice to do something different now and again.

One of the servers did mention that most people only order the cheese and chocolate and skip the main course.

It is a change from the ordinary dinning out. We loved the first time in De. The Orlando experience was fun and the food great. It is a little steep but worth trying at least once

We've taken our kids a couple of times with no problems at all, even when the youngest was only two. If you don't mind spending the $$, and your kids can sit quietly for 2-3 hours, they will probably love it.

Our 13 year-old usually requests it on her birthday (for the past 7 or 8 years). The servers have generally been very good with the kids.

If you have the time (first-timers will take 2-3 hours) and the $$, most kids find it fun. Your older ones should have no problem judging the cook-time on their own.
