Hi Calif ... Have you joined our 7-7-07 discussion .. If not, see my signature and join in ... Take care! I'm waiting for until December to book, as I'm not quite sure of my dates yet ... I'm planning time in London and Paris before cruise!

Does anyone know what hotels Disney is using pre-cruise?

Hi Cisco ... I have a Disney booking with the Hilton Diagonal Mar
Barcelona pre-cruise. I've booked this through Disney. It sounds great ... 220 yards from the beach, across the street from a shopping mall, 15 minutes from downtown Barcelona by taxi!

Hi CADis,

We're also on the 7/7/07. I'm looking into airfare right now. We have a timeshare on hold in Malaga Spain for the week before the cruise... Trying to make it work. Come join our cruise meet thread.

I posted this on the meet thread for my specific dates, but thought I would ask here as well...

I'd like some imput on this plan. Is this a horrible idea?

Book flight from Cincinnati to JFK on Delta for $200/person
Book flight on Aer Lingus from JFK to Dublin for $234/person
Book flight on Aer Lingus from Dublin to Barcelona for $81/person

It is three different flights, so would we have to check-in 3 times and check our bags 3 times? It comes to $515/person which is HALF the price it would be if I booked a flight with just one stop through Delta or United. Is this even possible to do 3 seperate flights?

I think if your are booking these seperately yourself, then you would have to collect your bas and check in 3 times as they won't be connected. Also my understanding is with most airlines if you fly from US to Europe you have a highter luggage allowance than if you fly from within Europe. So if the JFK to Dubli and Dublin to Barcelona are considered 2 seperate flights then I think you would have to deal with the lower luggage allowance on the second flight.

We're ready to deal with the lower luggage limits if it means saving thousands of dollars! We have a family of 5, so the airfare is really a huge cost. I just can't decide if checking in and checking our bags 3 times is worth it. It is a LOT of money to save, but it also allows for a lot of things to potentially go wrong!

I have a family of 6 & feel your pain! I would take a non-stop if possible from Boston to Barcelona however there is no such thing. This however facilitates a trip to DLP, my motto if you have to stop somewhere it might as well be Paris (Maybe London)! :thumbsup2

Whether you have to collect your bags depends on whether your airlines have agreements with each other about luggage. I have flown several times into Europe on one ticket with a separate ticket for a connecting flight. I have always checked my bags to the final destination. I just show both tickets to the agent who looks to see if they have a transfer agreement.

Check with the airlines before you assume you have to collect your bags at each connection.

I could book the JFK to Barcelona leg (via Dublin) toghether, but that comes out to $700 whereas if I book them seperately it comes out to $315. So if I call Delta (for our cvg-jfk leg) and ask them they might have an agreement with Aer Lingus and allow us to just check our bags at cvg and have them end up in Barcelona?

I just looked at these fares the flights from JFK to DUB on Aer Lingus are one way and there are all kinds of taxes that are not included.

from their site:
To/From USA: Fares shown exclude taxes, fees and charges of approx $125/€107 (Ireland/US travel) or $160/£90 (UK/US travel) based on roundtrip travel.

Thanks for pointing that out Monstro. I knew it sounded too good to be true. :thumbsup2

PrincessJamie08, we are booked JFK to LHR then with AA then we have another flight 2hr. wait, then we with British air LHR to BCN

According to AA we only need to check our bags at JFK & they should be in BCN waiting for us when we arrive. This is a big burden off my shoulders.

What airports are you flying in & out of? What about times? If you want, I will try to help you with your flight schedule.

FYI it was cheaper for us, to buy 2 round trip tickets with 2 different airlines.

Patricia

Just remember if you bought trip insurance, please check with your insurance that your flight is covered. If an airline is in bankruptcy then, the flight will not be insured. The one flight we wanted to do out of Sacramento is not insured. Northwest Airlines code shares with KLM and because Northwest Airlines is in bankruptcy they will not cover the flight. So now we are going get flights out of SFO. We'll probably fly Air France or British Airways.

MJGirl, Pedita&Pongo & Monstro.... Thanks for the hotel tips. I think I'll just use Marriott at the Barcelona Airport. Alot of the ones I called on that list were booked. I'm wondering if Disney has prebooked a bunch of room. The Marriott hotel offers a free shuttle to and from the airport. Now we just have to figure out how to get to the port from the hotel.
