The MAY freaks! Celebrating 1 year of marriage! PTR STARTED!!

That is so sweet of him to come up with something for you during your trip. I'd like to hear about it from you though. I am so excited for you. I get to live vicariously through you a bit. My trip to Kidani isn't for another 32 days.

Aww isn't he sweet. Thanks!! 32 days will fly by.

You're already packed?? I always wait until the night before. And then I end up forgetting something. :lmao: I should take a page from your book.

yeah I'm a freak lol. That is why I do it, so I make sure I don't forget something haha.

A question about the pins----do you pack those in your carry-on luggage and if so, do you ever have any problem at security in the airport getting all of them through? :confused3

Yeah they go on carry on. We never have a problem:thumbsup2

:worship:

Hi Lynn,

I have enjoyed all your trip reports and exited for the anniversary report. I just wanted to wish you a happy trip!! Here's to short lines, low crowds & great weather!

Hi!! Thank you so much!!!:goodvibes.

Lynn! Will you think of me while you're there and all my attractions of the day?! :flower3:

Aww of course I will. I have to go check out your Attraction of the day...I have to catch up.

So I'm crazy and I keep checking the 10 day trend for Orlando....right now for all out days they are all sunny lol. Stay that way!!

It is 90 degrees here today and tomorrow is going to be 59 degrees. Thank God I get to go back to the heat Sunday haha.

Can you believe how hot it's been here? I sat outside for lunch yesterday for an hour and got a sunburn on my arms!! :scared1:

I have to admit, 59 is a little stinky but I love Spring and I get really disappointed when it goes from 45 to 95 and skips over all of the numbers in between, so I'm not too disappointed it'll be cooling off. 80 and sunny, that's my idea of a perfect day. :cloud9:

Have a great trip and can't wait to see some pics when you get back! I shared your infamous character pic from MGM/DHS/Whatever with someone at work today and they almost keeled over, they couldn't believe it!

Oh no! I wore sunscreen the past two mornings when I went for my runs, I still got a a very light faint color on my arms. crazy.

I think tomorrow will be nice, I do like the spring weather.

Aww did they, that is so funny haha.

Thanks. We plan on having a great time, even with the possibility of the Swine flu being there.

I'm so excited for you guys!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:
Can't wait to hear about the trip when you get back!! Have fun!!

Hi!! thank you:goodvibes

Just realized you went looking for a "zoom lens" the other night and just thought I'd give you an opinion. A longer lens will be a great thing to have---lots of people for Canon seem to recommend the 55-250 IS (make sure you get the IS version, it helps A LOT!). If you are spoiled by a point and shoot camera that allows you to zoom by like 10x, you will be disappointed with just the kit lens while in WDW.

If your DH is willing to carry a lens or two around, as well as the camera, you should also look into what is commonly referred to as the "nifty fifty." It's around $100 (give or take) and is 50mm f/1.8. You can use it to attempt pictures on rides like Haunted Mansion, Pirates, etc. and usually come out with some pretty decent results. Just boost your ISO up to 1600 and open the lens up to f/1.8 and you'll get shots your p&s could never get (unless you were naughty and used the flash on the ride, tisk tisk). ;)

Here is a thread on the photo board that demonstrates what you are able to get on Pirates with a lens of that sort.

WOW I'm going to look into that lens...that is cheap for only 100 bucks. Where can I get it, I didn't see it at Best Buy.

Yeah I saw a zoom lens for like $250, I'm still debating on if we should get it or not. I want to.

You can get it any online store. Amazon, Adorama & B&H are all good ones. You may have to pay for shipping if you want it in time, but it's really a great lens to have. It'll help you get the whole "blurry background" look that a lot of people are always trying to accomplish. It's a GREAT lens, especially for so cheap.

Isn't it so sad that the warm weather is going away? It was 90 here today too and it won't even be 6o tomorrow. Luckily my school is air conditioned! I would be cursing it otherwise. :rotfl: What are your temps supposed to be in Disney?

Ok cool!! So does it zoom in a little or no?

Oh thank God you have AC in your school.

The temps in Disney will be high 80s-91.

Nope---the number on the lens (i.e. 18-55, 50, 200, etc.) is the focal length (or zoom). When the lens only has one number like the 50mm f/1.8 I referenced above, that is called a prime lens, meaning it doesn't zoom at all. Anything that has two numbers (like your kit lens) is considered a zoom lens. Anything over 100mm is considered a telephoto lens (probably what you are talking about when you say you want a zoom lens---something that you can zoom in a little further away with).

Don't worry about that though---you can always zoom with your feet to a certain extent (i.e. take a few steps in, take a few steps out......you do the hokey pokey and you turn yourself around??? ;))

Prime or fixed focal length lenses are often better in quality in terms of the photo it produces. Here are a few examples taken with my 50mm f/1.8. I got it used for around $80 and although I use a Nikon, you will be able to get similar results with your Canon since for the most part, the lens determines how an image looks, not the camera.

The most important thing is that if you are going to buy a lens with such a low f/# (aperture) you want to make the most of it. You should switch your camera to "Av" mode when using a lens like this and set the f/# for 1.8, 2.0, etc....the lower numbers. If you do get one, make sure to play around with it as much as possible and always check the pictures you take and try to make sure your focus point is exactly where you want it to ensure you don't end up with blurry face and crisp clear chin hair, etc. (see the picture of the cat if you don't understand what I mean. When you look through your viewfinder, the little box that shows where you are focusing should be on your subject's face or wherever you want to focus because eveything around it will gradually blur as you move away from the focus point)

That was a novel, I know...but if you have any other questions---feel free to ask! Here are some samples.

EDITED TO ADD: I know this is pretty self-explanatory, but if you are going to buy the 50mm f/1.8, make sure you buy Canon's version. Most camera brands make a 50mm lens of some sort---would hate for you to order Nikon's version and not be able to mount it to your camera.

You definitely can get it at a store---just not your usual "big box" store like Best Buy. If you want to get it at a store, you'll probably have to go to a local camera store. Some places that I have shopped at (locally) are Allen's Camera in Levittown, PA (you can just Google Allen's Camera and their site comes up) and Le Camera in Princeton on Route 1. The closer you get to Philly, the more camera stores I would imagine you'll find---but I can't make a recommendation there since I've never shopped them.

With most local stores, you will end up paying a little more because they are Mom & Pop type of shops, but Allen's Camera in Levittown was VERY comparable to Amazon, probably only about $20 more than the same $700 lens on Amazon.

Good luck!

5 DAYS!!!!

Everything is ready to go in the suitcase lol! I have the carry on bags packed with snacks already, and one bag is all pins!!!! Tim is bringing everyone so he can get a pin book down there and put them in it. I just have to pack the last minute things Sunday morning.

I think you're just a little excited!! :rotfl: I love the one carry on bag just for the pins!! :rotfl:

OOOH and Tim is surprising me with something. I have no idea what he is up to. He asked yesterday to see the itinerary and he has that look like he is up to something. AHH can't wait.

You're getting close. I can't wait to see all of those great photos you take with your new camera. And also can't wait to see what Tim's doing.
