It really is a sad disease.
Today was a nice day, not as nice as yesterday but still nice enough for a good run. It was a little chilly in the morning and very breezy. Yeah that was not fun running against wind.
We got there around 9 and the race started at 10. I went and picked up my shirt and my number, number 81 lol. Tim kept calling me T.O as in Terrel Owens haha. After that I sat in the car and ate my banana with peanut butter for some energy.
Tim was making fun of me because I forgot a knife so I was dipping my banana into the peanut butter. He had me cracking up.
It was so windy which made it a little chilly. I was freezing. I didn't know Tim was taking pictures of me here lol.
Now I did haha
It was time to go line up. Ok look at how white I am compared to everybody else LOL!!! The dude in the yellow won. He had like an Olympic running body lol. You could so tell he was going to win. Everybody nicknamed him Flamer because he had flames on his shoes lol.
And we're off haha. Tim said every time he tried to get me people got in the way haha, oh well.
Man this race was tough. It took all I had. I just kept the music pumping in my Ipod and just kept going. There were a ton of hills and a lot of wind.
Here is the guy who came in first and his time. He did such a great job.
and here is me trucking along lol.
YAY I finished!!! Such a great time!
Oh man I was pooped...I like guzzled the water down lol.
Trying to cool down my head lol.
YAY I did it!
I went and grabbed a banana and they had some of those energy fruit snacks. I had 2 of them. The package says you should have 2 every ten minutes while you are running. I'm going to get them for the half marathon. They are good, taste just like gummi bears.
Ok this was so so sad. This little girl sang a song, "Dance with my daddy again." She said that her father was diagnosed with ALD when she was 3 and he died when she turned 5

She was adorable and had such a pretty voice. Tim and I both got choked up, so sad.
After she sang they started announcing the winners. I came in second place in the woman's group aged 20-29!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Over all out of the women I think I was fourth or fifth place.
I was so excited when they called my name. They gave me a little prize haha. It was a beach towel, cooler, and a picnic blanket thing. Cute.
All the proceeds are going to Jefferson Hospital. They want to start screening babies for ALD when they are born.
