The May 2007 Rate/Code Watch

Where do you find these codes?

mousesavers.com

they're one of the best places to get codes and discounts and such.

hmmm i dont think ill go for this code because i want to upgrade my tickets to an AP so wont i end up paying more in the end if i use the code?

I'm thinking about going this way as well. I figure you might as well just apply the code now and get everything cheaper....for now. Then when you decide to go with the AP's just make the changes at that point in time. My thinking is that it's a good idea to try and get things as cheap as you can as quick as you can then change them later if need be.

With the AP's it really depends on how often you'll be using them; there is a break-even point with them. IMHO if you knew you'd be in the parks for 12 days or more I'd be going with the AP's and waiting for the AP codes. I have a feeling that they'll come out with something but nothing is ever guaranteed. I'm actually surprised with this code and if you look at the last AP code that came out it was pretty incredible...$80 off per night at moderates? $130 off per night at Deluxe??? That's a lot of money. If I wuz you and you wuz me and I knew I'd be in the parks long enough to make an AP pay off, I'd go that route. If the AP only pays itself off if a good discount comes out I'd be using the code now and watching for an AP one. If (and when in my mind ;) ...) an AP code comes out upgrade at that point.

What does everyone else think about this?

Can someone help me understand this? I just got off phone with TA- (who I don't love at this point!) and she told me that with the new promo, my package would go up $200-
Right now I have a Package at the GF with Park hoppers for a week at $3067
She said with the water parks and more option It goes to $3267. How could this be? Is it because you lose the 15% AAA discount in the process? Would it pay for me to cancel and rebook through Disney?
Ugh! I was so hoping for the water parks free- we are planning to go and pay admission for the one day....
Thanks in advance for anyone who helps!

That's interesting....I emailed my travel agent and asked her to do everything. I'd hope that she's smart enough to call me if it's more expensive. It is possible that it may be more expensive though because you're changing discount providers. You never know, there might be a clause which says "cannot be combined with any other offers". In my mind AAA isn't another "offer" but you never know with Disney; they're smarter than us all!!!! I'll let you know when I hear back from my TA.

Hey Krismom,
Yes, that's why your rate is more, you lose your AAA discount. You can only use one discount your the other. When you stay in a deluxe, often the AAA discount is better because of the higher room rate, therefore a higher discount.
Hope this helps.

I just wanted to say :thanks: for the ZFC code! It saved us enough on tickets to upgrade to a moderate resort...and now we have the water parks and more option!!!!:cool1:
This is going to be a great trip! I just got off the phone with Disney and everything is squared away!!!!!!

codes are out for may free ticket upgrades!!!!!!
ZEY without dining
ZFC with dining
Good LUCK!!!!!

 :cool1: This is fabulous! We have been going back and forth on adding the water park option and this has sealed it for us! Cancelling our AAA ressie and doing this instead is only $67 more than our original ressie, except this includes water parks. :yay: I just wish our AAA office was friendlier and more knowledgeable.

Thanks for the explanation Deb- but it still kills me. My first time in a Deluxe and I was so excited about the code!

Mine comes out to be $67 more than just the AAA discount with park hoppers. Since the GF is more expensive, it is possible that your AAA discount is more valuable than the water park upgrade. For each person in your party, you save $101 off your total rack rate package price (that is how much the park hopping/water park option costs). Make sure that your TA is quoting it EXACTLY the same - with or without insurance, standard vs premium view, etc.

Hope that helps!

thanks for the help and advice... unfortunately- I feel like I'm holding my TA's hand through this process, no one knows Disney like WE know Disney!

my AAA gave us a price of $5,085 (gasp!!) for 8 nights Poly, park hoppers, and dining plan for 4 of us.

Deanna at Small World gave me the exact same price for the same thing, but this also gives us water parks and more I think? saying she used the code. (Boy is she on top of things..)

I'm assuming because one of these has the AAA discount, and one the code discount, and it comes out the same? How should I book that there would likely be another code out later? If I start with a package can I switch to room only? If I'm having someone else do this how do I know which way it is booked? $$ is the same either way, right?

A few questions..
-what is considered a "package"? I'm guessing both of these scenarios are, but I'm not sure why.
-what's the advantage of booking a "package"? Can I book a room only rate through AAA since that is the only place the discount is?

We were hoping to do a split stay 5 nights POFQ and 3 nights Poly.. but it's turning out to be a PITA.. HELP!!! :)

I think your AAA rate doesn't reflect AAA discount on the room portion.

but I get the WP which I didn't have :cool1: but I really don't plan to use them  Oh well, maybe another code will come out :confused3 In the meantime I have to plan what to do with that $20 :rotfl2:
We had AAA POP preferred with DDP and MYW + hop 8 nights 2 ad / 2 kids = $2652 (roughly)
We now have the same only add WP for roughly $2632. We lost our AAA discount, but gained the WP.

Thank you for posting the codes im so excited to go now! :thumbsup2 The only thing better would be a free dinning plan what are the chances of that one!?!:confused3 :lmao:

Hi zoemurr!

Firstly, your questions: a package is when you combine at least your room and tickets. You can either have a room, ticket, dining package OR the room and ticket package. By the way, DW and I are huge fans of the DDP! It makes the trip feel somewhat all inclusive but there is a TON of food. Dinner followed by Space Mountain = BAD NEWS!!!!

Now, with regards to the same prices, I really don't think your AAA rate is correct, they're usually 10 to 15 percent lower than the rack rate. The AAA agent could have you in a different room type with the insurance still in. The best way to check this is to head to disneyworld.com and enter in your trip the exact way that the AAA people should have. If you get the same price this could mean that the rooms allocated to AAA for that period are taken up. This happened to us when we were booking our trip. My advice would be to call back and get them to check again. IMHO, I don't think the people at AAA were on top of things, I've heard mixed reviews about agents here on the boards. Heck, I've even come across a thread that was set up for finding good TA's!!!!:lmao:

Chances are good that Deanna is using the code.

When it comes to booking your stuff and making sure it's correct; the only way you can do that is if you have the reservation number. On our last trip I couldn't get our TA to give it to me but this time I scammed her into it :cool1: I'm almost certain that you can make whatever changes you want to your reservation through AAA but again it could be tough to check with the folks at Disney if this was actually done. The one thing with AAA is that they require that your trip be paid in full further ahead than booking through Disney. This is done so that they've got adequate time to get the money to Disney. The only problem this creates, in terms of codes, is that you won't have as much time to change your ressie if a good code comes out. The balance of my trip is due on March 15 and it looked like codes came out in the middle to end of February.

Also with some of the other codes that pop up you really need to be on top of things because there are only a select number of rooms available for that code. If you can't get one just keep calling back. Also, these codes that most people are waiting for are either Florida resident codes or annual passholder codes. You do not have to be an annual passholder to make a reservation for an annual pass discount. You only need to have your annual pass with you when you check into the resort.

Hope this helps, let us know if you've got any other questions. I bet most of us could pass the Disney College test that they give to travel agents in order to "certify" them as Disney Specialists.

Take it easy!!!!

Thanks for the code.....called Disney and made the change, no problems, no questions, saved $250! Still not sure on the dining plan.....waiting to see if anymore upgrades come out. Thanks again.

Okay, somewhere on here I read where somebody was quoted a price today of about $1600 for a family of four (2 adults, 1 Child, 1 Infant) for 7 nights at Pop WITH the DDP and the special WP and PH option). Then on this thread I see where somebody is paying around $2600 for 2 adults and 2 kids 8 nights at POP. This doesn't seem right to me that it would be $1000 more for an extra child and one extra night?

I did go to Disney's site and get a quote...it was $1700 for 2 adults, 1 child, 7 nights at POP WITHOUT the DDP.

Anybody have an idea of why there is such a range of pricing here?

I'm just trying to figure it out while I anxiously await my quote from DU. They must be SWAMPED today!!

I'm bummed :sad2: ...I have a package booked for May at CSR and I did not have the park hoppers or the water parks so I tried to get the free upgrade but they did not have any more for CSR. If I wanted to switch to CBR or POR they could give it to me but none left for CSR. I was not planning to park hop (because I was trying to save money) but would love to have the free option to do so if I wanted to. I do have left over water park tickets and was planning on using them so it's not really a big deal. I was even thinking of switching to CBR but they said I could not use it for the preferred area and my DH does not want to try POR so I am just keeping my reesies at CSR the way they are.

Do you think if I keep trying maybe I will be able to get the code applied for CSR or do you think I will be wasting my time?

Thanks,

Loralie

I am going to call my AAA rep tomorrow and see if she can run this code through for POP and compare it to the price of the AAA package. She is not the most pleasant person to work with so I don't think she will be thrilled to look this up for me, but I am going to try it anyways. If she isn't helpful, I may call Disney and see what they say...

Thanks for the heads up on the code..........

My family from NY will be coming in May we will be staying at the villas on my points. Is there a code for upgrading tickets only? Just wishful thinking.:wizard:

I would go ahead and call Disney first to see what the quote is. My AAA office isn't helpful or knowledgeable either :sad2: so I always like to be armed with as much info as I can. Good luck!

I have to call my AAA agent tomorrow....just saw this new code this evening and her office was closed. We have the same thing as you...AAA POP DDP, MYW /hopping, no wp. 2 adults, 1 jr., 1 child...roughly $2700 (we have an 11 y/o "adult"....) If the new code comes out to roughly the same, but we gain the WP, I'll go with it. We are not really into the WP's, but what the heck?!
