The Many Adventures of Keith and Nicole, the Sequel, Trip Planning, part 1
Characters: Keith, BF, 4th trip to WDW in past 16 months, desperately in need of a
vacation
Nicole, me, 5th trip to WDW in past 16 months, also very much in need of
a vacation
Dates: April 20 24 at Disney, April 24 28 at Universal.
Location: All Star Movies and Hard Rock Hotel
Well, it was a verrrrrrry long winter for the two of us! I started a new job after months of misery at a very bad company, and Keith was having work troubles of his own. In December, Keiths dad found out he had a brain tumor and had surgery. We live above his parents, and were held mostly responsible for his aftercare since his mother, a teacher, could not miss a lot of work, and his sister, even though living only 3 minutes away, was just plain selfish and lazy. Just as he was getting better, Keiths dad started having seizures as a result of the surgery, and was back to square 1. On top of all of this, I was sick with pneumonia twice, felt miserable, and missed a lot of work. We also remodeled our entire apartment and bought new everything!
Somewhere in the middle of all of this, I decided that it would be a great idea to plan another trip to WDW! Actually it was on New Years Day, I remember it well. I renewed our annual passes that had expired the month before. Then, I talked to Keith . Well, he wasnt too keen on going back to WDW, he was afraid he would be bored. I told him that we would go the same time that we went the previous April, which was around our anniversary, and coincided with the NFL Draft, which we watched from the ESPN Club and had a blast! That perked him up a bit. Then he asked if we could spend a couple of days doing Universal and Sea World.
So I started my research. I found out when the draft would take place, April 21 and 22. We wanted to go to Universal first then WDW, so that would mean leaving on April 13. Wait a second, thats Friday the 13th! Keith is a very nervous flyer, so I thought the coincidence of flying on Friday the 13th would be too much for him, but figured hed get over it. Then I looked a little more closely at the calendar. What is that in little print at the bottom? Good Friday? Well, then that would mean, hmmm, WAIT, thats Spring Break week! No sir, no thank you, not in this lifetime! So, since we needed to be in Disney for the weekend of April 21 and 22, we decided that we would do Disney first and then go to Universal afterwards. Okay dates set, April 20 28.
I then contacted Dreams Unlimited Travel to set up 4 nights at Disney. I definitely wanted to stay in the Epcot Resorts area. So I put in my request and was told we could have the Beach Club or the Boardwalk. Well, Keith has something against the Beach Club, what I dont know, so I priced out the Boardwalk. Well, they were only able to get a studio at the Villas, and it came out to $404/nt. Wow, pretty steep, but what the heck? So I booked the Boardwalk. I then called the Hard Rock Hotel and was quoted $169/nt for a pool view room, no discounts available at that time. So I booked that.
This is too long so I will continue it in Trip Planning Part 2
