Buzz, believe me......A day at mgm is heaven on earth compared to going to the dentist! I have personal experience!:)

MGM is my least favorite too.:)

You guys mean "Disney Hollywood Studios" :snooty:
Yes, the park is awful. I can't believe the crowd that was there.
When I went in April, the place was a ghost town.

What is the deal with that huge crowd?! I have never seen it that busy. Of course, I go in January, but still.

There are only a few things we like at MGM: Star Tours, RnRC, ToT. We still have a couple of shows we haven't seen and will knock those out this trip. Once you see the shows, we don't see the need in going back to them. :confused3 We only have a morning set aside for MGM. We spend more time at Disney Quest. :3dglasses

1. Epcot
2. California Adventure
3. Disneyland
4. Magic Kingdom
5. Animal Kingdom
6. The Carnival in the K-Mart parking lot
7. MGM or whatever the hell they call it these days
:rotfl2: That's pretty bad! I like the shows here, but it's not a kid favorite either, cept for R&R. We're going for the EMH evening cause that's pretty cool there!

Those who drive to this park, make sure you enter from the northern entrance across from the Boardwalk hotel. This will put you much closer to the park and within walking distance to the turnstiles. In other words, you can avoid the tram.
More details please---we're usually just "in the line"

A. I will abandon the crew, and sneak as closely to the rope as possible prior to the drop. Once the rope hits the pavement, I’ll glide around egg-timers and keep pace with the CM’s who lead the hostile crowd towards Tower of Terror and Rockin’ Roller Coaster (RRC). The Goal is to grab FP’s for everyone as soon as possible.
We do this too! Only sometimes I do better cause I'm little and sneak through people better! (I did great when I had an ECV--gave folks lots of "flat tires" :rotfl2:

* Gauntlet Avoidance Tactic from our March 07 “Man Report”
Gonna need some more info here too--I leave in 14 days so help me out!!!

Hijacking moment....ok, we got free passes to DQ (looks like Dairy Queen :cloud9: )--what do we hit first and will we be happy to eat there??? (14 yo and 11 yo girls)

This will be our first time at DQ (buster bar:laughing: ) but we are going 3 times. Based on research I did with others who have gone, avoid evenings and weekends for starters. The locals with APs have the run of the place, it seems. We are going at opening and plan to spend 3 hours the first visit. I've been told there is no waiting on weekday mornings. I also heard the counter service there is pretty good. Deb has the menu at allears. They also have a Cheesecake Factory Express there, which is worth the admission price alone. :thumbsup2

I agree, MGM is my least favourite Disney park. It just doesn't have that same appeal and theming to it that the others have. Sure it has a few fun rides/ attractions, too name a few:

1.RRC
2.TOT
3.B&B
4.Fantasmic

There are some things in the park that I have not done yet so I can't judge those but when I make an itinerary up for a visit MGM is the park that takes the back burner.

This is my LEAST favorite of the Disney Parks

It's on the bottom of our list also.

Out of our 12 days in the “World”, I have two mornings scheduled for MGM. As far as I’m concerned, it’s two too many.

It's too bad MB is afraid of the dark because Fantasmic is the best thing going at MGM IMO.

Are you picking up these tips from the Guide?

As per our mantra, we arrive at the parks prior to the rope-drop. If I can give only ONE piece of advice to WDW rooks, it’s this: Make the Rope-Drop!!!

I soooo can't wait to tell you about our first rope drop experience :3dglasses

MDF said:
If you’re going to choose one resort to miss the rope-drop and sleep in, I would suggest you choose MGM. It has the absolute WORST pre-opening ceremony of any theme park I’ve ever visited.

If you had to choose one park for the rope drop, which would it be?????

LG and MB covered their ears. LtP had that “frown” I’ve come to know as the “Cranky-Face”. Usually, this face is directed towards me. Today it’s pointed at the obnoxious “director” with the megaphone.

Behind the Turkey Leg stand, I hear “Sir, Sir!... you can’t walk through here”.

UH OH ......... BUSTED

MDF said:
Ignoring her, I motor on.

I can see why Linnie doesn't follow you :sad2:

Arriving at the Fast Past kiosks, I’m second in line behind some agitated dude who’s having trouble with the machine and discussing it with a CM. After waiting 3 seconds, I’m irritated.

Only 3 seconds and you were irritated?? Sheesh.

MDF said:
At this point, I can either move to another line, which are now 5 to 7 deep and filling up quickly… or slide around him and give the machine a try for myself. I opt for option two. ::yes::

OMGosh ....... That's just lookin' for trouble

MDF said:
My tickets works! The man next to me is visibly annoyed. More so by my moving around him than the fact that my tickets worked and his didn’t.

::yes::

MDF said:
I offer some sound advice: “Make sure you keep your tickets away from your cell phone”. I like to be helpful. :smokin:

D'oh! Didn't you know enough to quit???

MDF said:
“I don’t HAVE a cell phone!” …he stated sharply.

“Bummer”, I replied with a smirk before gathering up all my fast passes and retreating back towards the Mermaid ride.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

:sad2:

As I exit the Rockin Roller Coaster pavilion, the CM Nazi who yelled at me earlier was waiting. I think she was actually waiting for me!

:lmao:

For an installment that you weren't looking forward to, it sure was funny!

I'm just bored ...
Tom-Jerry.gif

They're probably too scared to come out and play! :scared:

:scared: Okay I think you all have scared me off ever having children! :scared1:

HELP BUZZ

WHERE ARE YOU?????? They are going crazy in here we need some help

btw DW 31 hours labor, natural w/ some pain & me snip, snip, more than once. :sad2: oops, it is rubbing off :rotfl2: Buzz?

Talk about horror stories about deliveries...

Once I had to deliver 134, 4 lb 3 oz. Sunday edition papers in the pouring rain,

Talk about a long painful labor, they were so big it took me three trips on my trusty Schwinn Beach Cruiser to get them all delivered.

Thank goodness buzz made it back. It was getting ugly in here.

DHS isn't that bad. After all it is still Disney (not there best park, I'll give you that). It could be worse. It aint K-Mart. :lmao:

Welcome back buzz. How is the awful injury? :rotfl2:

I USED TO WORK AT MGM!

and I happen to love the park. True Epcot is my favorite but I always enjoy my time at MGM. So there. :snooty:

Don't worry I still like you and I will still read your trippy.

Wow, that was some serious crowd there!! I wonder what it is about this park. It's like once you have seen something new you really don't want to see it again. Let alone the stuff you have already seen. And it's not set up right. It's all weird.

LOVE the aggressive manuevering skills!!

You and Faunt have that shortcut method down to a science...:thumbsup2

Yep it takes skill and preciouse calculatoins,

that and the ability to not care that you are cutting in front of others, and making children cry when you shove them into a fountain as you pass them by.

You will like how i got in front of everyone at BB, i just posted it this morning.

Great update buzz, I would have taken the shoe off, and used it as a weapon to throw at someone, probably that CM that was yelling at you to not cut through the dinning area.
:duck:

What, no comments on all the running amuck that occurred yesterday:confused3 I am disappointed Buzz:sad2:

Anyway as for your installment. I completely agree with you about MGM. We really enjoyed it when it was new, but it really needs a major overhaul. RnRC and TOT can stay, everything else needs to be ripped out and start all over!

Hi Buzz! Your trip reports are great! I love your writing style. I'm mostly a lurker just enjoying your updates...just don't feel my writing would be as witty as the other posters!

I have to agree with you about MGM being the least favorite of the parks in WDW. To be honest, of the 3 nighttime shows at WDW, my family enjoys Illuminations and Wishes more. I know, I know, I may be in the minority here...

Will you do a TR for you DLR trip? I hope so...my family is hoping to get there in the next year or so and some advice from the GAT master would be great. :)

I didn't think Illuminations was all that great, the show just seemed dated with the green laser beams shooting everywhere. I do love Fantasmic, and Wishes is out of this world! Spectromagic as well, just wonderful.

This just shows everyone's different tastes:thumbsup2 I like Illuminations, can take or leave Fantasmic, Love Wishes, and think Spectro needs to be imploded!:goodvibes

Illuminations is my favorite nighttime Disney show. I just love the music. Fantasmic is my next favorite. Wishes is nice but I am not a fan of just fireworks...unless it's Hallowishes.
