You might be able to get him to come around if you lay it on heavy about the nicer weather. You know when Disney has really good weather? December!

~ The Man Report ~ ~ Bruised Achilles & Groin Shots ~



As most of you know, I’m a huge PhilharMagic fan. Ok, not huge, GIGANTIC! I absolutely love this show and have since the very first time I watched.

LtP, not so much. The very first time we watched it soured her on the experience. Unfortunately, she’s never recovered.

What happened was that last year when we visited, we were one of the very last people to enter the theater on a very busy day. “Recipe for disaster” would be an understatement.

The chaos of the crowd surge to secure good seating was similar to what one might experience at a Who concert in the late 60’s. I took an elbow to my rib cage and a knee to the groin. I was attempting to just get us into a row… any row!

The theater was at max capacity yet inconsiderate Canadians had decided to stop in the middle of the row forcing many Americans to squeeze past them to the seats beyond. This created a mass bottle neck that reverberated all the way back to the entrance of the theater from the waiting area.

By the time I had found us three seats together (for four people mind you), I was limping and worried about my reproductive organs. LG had to sit on mommy’s lap as dad’s incapacitation would not allow it.

Bruised and battered, we took our seats in the second row, on the very end, and tried to enjoy the show. The problem with viewing the show from this angle and distance is that the 3D effect simply doesn’t work so everything is blurry and out of whack.

This year was a lot different. We wandered straight into the waiting area of the theater and took a few goofy photos of each other. LtP was still not enthused about this attraction but I just knew it was a good one. Blurry or not, our first experience had left an impression on me. I knew our poor perception of this attraction had to do with our proximity to the screen. I was bound and determined to “fix” that this go around.

When the doors opened to the theater, there were less than 40 of us to enter. I let most everyone enter first, chose an empty row, proceeded to the middle, a plunked my can in the seat. Perfect!

3 minutes later, a family of giraffe-people came and sat RIGHT in front of us.

I audibly sounded my discontent, moved the family 5 seats towards the exit and held my breath hoping the giraffe-people didn’t have friends.

The entire show was spectacular. I can’t tell you how fun it was to watch both children reaching for the 3D effects and laughing hysterically at Donald’s antics. It was so neat to see MB “get” the humor. For me, it’s worth the price of admission.

LtP has a good story of MB when we got home playing with his stuffed Donald and rehashing the beating he takes throughout the show.

At the end of the show, Donald gets spit out of the tuba and through the back wall of the theater. We all clapped, cheered, and wiped away the tears. I’ve never seen both children so happy before.

Exiting the theater, we dump our goggles into the bins provided and begin to track our stroller.

Its stroller chaos as everyone attempts to locate their’s, load children, then make for the next attraction. Lunch is closing in so the desperate crowd is not only frantic in their search, but hungry as well. I take a couple of direct “hits” to the shins and Achilles before ours is found, loaded, and exited safely towards Tomorrowland.

Limping towards Tomorrowland Speedway, we take a much needed bathroom break. The plan now is to hit Space Mountain with MB, shoot ‘em up at Buzz Lightyear, then grab us some ribs and chicken at Cosmic Ray’s. Ribs = Gud.

Every once-in-a-while, I have a normal experience. This thirty minute segment of my life appeared to go as anyone else's would go... 'cept for the groin shot and giraffe-people of course.

As I rarely make it to "Kid Central", I mean, Fantasyland, I have not been able to see Philharmagic as much as I would like.

With kids in tow this time, Fantasyland is a top priority. So, no doubt, we'll be seeing Phil this time out.

I tried to convince my cousin to ditch taking their double stroller in favor of using the ultimate crowd disperser that you can rent.....She said no way.
