Wow! Some of those colors on Medusa's site are really uhhh... bright! My husband would faint if wore some of those colors. I can just imagine him asking me if I was trying out for a job as a circus clown!

I love those Medusa brushes! Good prices too! Can you buy them anyplace, or do you have to get them online?

And I have been slathering my Monistat ALL over my face, including my lips since I started using it last week. I am still here! Lips and face look great!:cutie:

Gretchen

I think you better forget the lips....read the package. As I said it would be "tres embarrasant" if one of us had to go to the er due to monstat build up. Worse yet if they had to pump your stomach and the tubes get clogged with monostat.... :scared1:
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

As for the clown thing, my husband would think the same thing. He came up behind me when I was looking at the site and he told me if I did that to my eyes he was going to send me to clown college.

NO I go in July August and it was therefor the past few years and as we would drive by I would literally look at all the people going in and out and dream about going! LOL.

So first, I did not use the monostat on my lips today, I double checked and it said to call poison control if ingested so I figured that my husband would kill me if I had to have my stomach pumped and then tell them what it was I had "accidentally" ingested and why. YOu all know the reputation monstat has no one wants to listen when you tell them it is the POWDER GEL NOT the infection fighter! :rotfl:

So I went to a couple of stores today that had MO and none of them had the overnight treatment. In fact one store was so proud that they had the MO at all they had just gotten it in and had just recently heard of it. They were kind of bummed they did not know of the replenishment treatment. Anyway they were selling the large bottle for 43.00! it is only 27 on Cosmetic Magic! I will wait it out but I will call cosmetic magic and ask them to get it in.

CR how many times a week are you supposed to use it?

You guys will be proud of me...I walked by the Company Store and did not go in. This is in keeping with my no buy make up for the next two months( I did not say I would not buy hair care products) AND more importantly my DH was with me and therefore I had to ACT like I was keeping my promise.

I do actually like the Stila shadows better than the MAC now that I have had a long enough time to compare them.

ETA: CR what the heck were you thinking....22 for the whole set of brushes???? I would have had at least two or them. I like to have a couple of sets of the same. Once I use them I put them in an empty cup and then wash them once all three sets are dirty(full wash with baby shampoo I spray them each time I use them now)

I like Stila better than MAC, too. I especially like TiGi.

The treatment - I guess as often as you'd need / like. My hair feels amazing today.

I know!!! You dont have to rub it in! SHEESH!!! I KNOW!! I could have had the whole set for $22. ARGH!!!!!!!! :sad2:

I rub the Monistat all over my face - including lips. I'm still alive. I think you'd be okay - but I dont see any difference in lipstick last-age, though.

And the make up - I know, but it's just so PRETTY and FUN!!!

Hi I am a newbie and could some advice.
I am using BE in fairly light and I like it but feel the coverage for under my eyes isnt that good. I get dark circles so and I find this make up doesnt help.
Should I get something else for under my eyes before I use the BE?

THanks

ETA the bisque doesnt help at all. I feel like it make the lines under my eyes stand out.

Hi Alicnwondrln and welcome! I don't have any suggestions for mineral makeup but there's a lot here that do. I have dark circles and broken capillaries and I've found that mineral makeup doesn't cover enough for me. But there are many people that love it.

If anyone is interested in brushes and likes Bobbi Brown makeup, I noticed on www.bobbibrowncosmetics.com , they are giving a free blush brush (a $45 dollar brush) with an $85 purchase. You need the code "blush".That is a great giveaway! I was looking around to see if there was anything I was interested in. But the only BB thing I've wanted to try is the "smudge proof mascara" and I've got too many mascaras already. Plus, I've already got that exact blush coming from Nordstrom. It's backordered and YES that sucker was $45 :headache: I wonder if you can cancel a backorder?

I just got my Lucky Magazine today too. You can save 35% at www.stilacosmetics.com with the code "lucky4" at checkout. But I noticed something is wrong with their website. I also saw a message on there that if you ordered on a certain date, your order could be cancelled. I wonder if there was a price glitch? :confused3

OKAY monstat lip users, I am going to try it to see if it extends or at least makes my lipstick go on more smoothly.

My b'day is in 9 days so I am going to go to Sephora and get my free gift. Only thing is sometimes when I sign up for this stuff I do not give my correct b'day so they do not have my personal info. I hope I did the correct day at Sephora. I liked the little lip gloss set they have and it would be a way to get make up and not BUY it. LOL Then again WHO among us can go to Sephora and NOT buy something???

How, oh how did I miss this thread? I'm a freelance MUA in my spare time. I took a break from doing MU for about 5 yrs but recently started doing it again for some extra cash.

I, personally, LOVE bright colors. I like Medusa but find that a lot of their eye dusts have different consistencies. Some are great to work with but other are a nightmare to blend. I REALLY love Lime Crime. The colors are super bright and look so pretty. They're pretty good to work with too, but still not a MAC pigment.

I need a good moisturizer with sunscreen. I m super sensitive too the sun but I am super dry. I am using mary kay day and night solution right now. I have some samples of a few things but I was wondering if there is a good one out that everyone recommends that won't break the bank. thanks

Have you attempted to use Monistat on your face before you apply your concealer? I found my minreal concealer stays on better, if I do.

Also - something Ive read amazing things about a million times is YSL Touch Eclat. It's expensive but supposed to work wonders.

I don't have any suggestions. Arent you using mineral makeup? That has a natural sunscreen in it.

I was eyeballing the ALDI's brand stuff someone mentioned, the other day. It's only $5. I might pick some up and try it.

There are rumors swirling on several sites that Stila is going under or filing for BK. I guess their website has been screwy for a couple of months and no one gets any orders that are placed.

Ya know, I got the 'It's Your Birthday!' email from Sephora a few days ago. I accepted my gift with the order I placed on Friday. BUT - it is nowhere near my b-day and I cannot find this info anywhere in my profile on their site! lol Oh well, nice little bonus for me! (it says in the email that if you go into the store, you just give the Sephora person your points card or email address and get the free gift. I don't think you have to show ID to prove it. Not sure tho.)

Interesting Trivia of the Day: Did you know that the people that work at Sephora are called Cast Members? Kind of ironic, huh?

Hi! I use mineral makeup too but couldn't use BE. The company I use has a few colored powders that go on under or over the foundation to cover dark circles, redness, etc. For dark circles, they use a yellowish powder, green for redness - then there is lilac and a few others. Other girls on the forums there have great success with them.

There are some solutions out there!!

no what is that?
I like the coverage but I have some small lines and dark circles under my eyes and I feel like I need to cover/smooth it over before I do the foundation.

Sorry, I was afraid to post it because I did a few times and I swear, I do NOT work there - I just really like them! In fact, they have taken much of my paycheck over the last few weeks. :lmao:

Anyway, it's aromaleigh.com. Great support and lots of great products. If you want to try it out, I suggest you order several samples (about $1 each, free shipping) and see what works - the samples go a long way. Also, check out their online forums - the girls there are terrific with giving advice and they really love the product. I think you'll like the prices too if you are used to BE. :thumbsup2

Oh! and they have a BE to Aromaleigh color chart so you don't have to guess too much as to which of the dozens of foundation colors will work for you.

Good luck!

Interesting Trivia of the Day: Did you know that the people that work at Sephora are called Cast Members? Kind of ironic, huh?

That will be a shame if they go under. They do have wonderful shadows. Ive always liked them. So buttery smooth.

Cast Members, aye? They need a lesson in "Disney Magic" if that's the case. I've had some great 'Cast Members' there, and I've also had some uppity ones. :snooty:

no what is that?

Gurrrrrrl - you are missing out! I just got turned onto it from this thread. It's the Monistat Anti Chafing Gel - that dries to a powder finish. And holds your makeup on ALLLLLLLL day - as well as making it go on so wonderful.

monistat-monostat-primer-comparison.jpg

Also - Everyday Minerals has tinted colors, that might work for your undereye circles a bit better.

Check out this fun list from here: http://venusace138.buzznet.com/user/journal/

BIZARRE (AND CHEAP) BEAUTY SECRETS!

I've road tested all these tricks, so I know they work - and highly reccomend them.

You don't always have to spend a fortune to glam up. Some of the best beauty products are where you'd least expect 'em...

AHHH, EXFOLIATION!

Many products supposedly made for exfoliating the face (eg. St. Ives apricot scrub) are waaay too abrasive. This just further damages skin, causing more probloms. So forget spending $10.00 on harsh products. Your gentle, scrubbed clean glow is just a kitchen and medicine cabinet away!

BAKING SODA/ASPIRIN/HONEY MASK >>

Crush 2 aspirins. Mix with 3 spoonfuls of baking soda, and 3 spoonfuls of honey. Mix into a paste, then apply to the face. Leave on for a minute or so, then wash off. The aspirin clams skin, the baking soda is a very gentle exfoliant, and baking soda and honey alike are anti-microbial, so they help kill acne causing germs.

OILY/COMBINATION/ACNE PRONE SKINS BEST FRIEND!

I had SUPER SENSITIVE, acne prone combination skin, with acne scars and enlarged pores to prove it. For years they didn't go away. Then one day I discovered............... MILK OF MAGNESIA (yes, the laxative), and it's literally erased years of damage from my skin. SWEAR. TO. GOD. It's laser in a bottle - thats under $5.00!

After removing your makeup, apply milk of magnesia to the face before going to bed (it turns a chalky white, hence you shouldn't wear it when you're out). Rinse off the next day. Do this daily for a few weeks and you should see awesome results. Then continue use as desired.

Milk of magnesia:

* tightened my pores

* reduced excessive oiliness

* decreased by breakouts

* reduced redness / helped even out my skin tone

* made my skin smoother

UNDER EYE BAGS BE GONE!

Who doesn't hate puffiness caused by a lack of sleep? Kick it to the curb with PREPARATION H - the hemmeroid cream! It reduces swelling, so it works by de-puffing eye tissue.

KILLER ZIT CREAM!

Not all oils cause greasiness. Clove oil is a VERY powerful drying agent. You've heard of toothpaste applied to zits I'm sure. I give 'em an extra kick by using CLOVE TOOTHPASTE, which you can get at any health food/natural grocery store.

Apply overnight, then rinse off the next morning. Use a sparing amount, and apply only to the zit itself. Make sure to exfoliate asap too (clove will dry the zit out, but if you don't exfolite, that dried skin will in turn clog your pores, causing more breakouts).

INSTANT HAIR BODY!

After a day at the beach, salt water gives your hair more body, texture, and a subtle, wind blown like volume. You can easily replicate this at home!

SALT WATER HAIR SPRITZ >>

Mix 8 spoonfuls of salt with 8 oz. of water (1 spoonful per oz.). Pour into a spray bottle. Shake well, spritz away, then blow dry for a few seconds.

It's like Bumble & Bumble 'surf spray', only free.

TAMING HAIR GREASINESS!

Apply CORNSTARCH to your hair, rub it in, then brush/shake it out. The corn starch will absorb the excess oil and carry it away.

CHEAP YET AMAZING MAKEUP PRIMER!

The good folks at Monistat invented an ANTI-CHAFING GEL, for obese people whos thighs get inflamed when rubbing together too much : P.

It actually makes a killer makeup primer thats on par with Smashboxes photo finish, if not better. And it's only $7.00!

THE ULTIMATE HAIR GROWTH ENHANCER

Back to monistat we go, for.......... YEAST INFECTION CREAM. Yeast infection cream contains miconazole nitrate, an anti-fungal. Fungus clogs pores and inhibits hair growth. So, a lil' yeast infection cream applied to the scalp encourages hair to grow longer, thicker, and faster (insert 'thats what she said' joke here).

But, seriously......

Apply it to the scalp only - it'll make your hair look greasy otherwise. Leave it in for a day or two, wash, and repeat as often as you'd like.

You can use other brands of yeast infection cream as well - so long as they contain miconazole nitrate but DON'T contain mineral oil or petrolium - which clog pores, therefore defeating the purpose.

NEOSPORIN and FOOT POWDER containing miconazole nitrate have a similar effect too : ).

MAKE THAT HAIR HEALTHY!

Laxatives once again gets the glory. CASTOR OIL is better than any deep conditioning treatment out there. I apply it liberally to my hair, let it set for several hours, then cleanse my hair as usual. It isn't a pain to wash out at all, and makes my hair stronger, shinier, and less brittle. Applied to fingernails, it makes them less brittle as well.

PS - Excessive hair extension bond remover getting you down? Extension bond removers contain lanolin oil and/or mineral oil, both of which like to linger. But remember this....... oil is dissolved BY oil. Castor oil is one of those good oils; apply it to hair burdened by leftover bond remover, and it'll wash out much easier.

That will be a shame if they go under. They do have wonderful shadows. Ive always liked them. So buttery smooth.

Cast Members, aye? They need a lesson in "Disney Magic" if that's the case. I've had some great 'Cast Members' there, and I've also had some uppity ones. :snooty:

Milk of magnesia is amazing. I have very oily skin, and it is the best mattifer I've ever tried. Nothing else has ever come close. I put on a very thin layer (thin enough that it doesn't turn white) over my moisturizer and under my make up. It's much more effective than primer, foundation, and powder put together.

MAC what? I use some MAC stuff.

I use the Monistat all over my face - and it holds all my makeup on. :cloud9:

Interesting. Thanks for the review. :thumbsup2

Smashbox Halo - love it

OMG!
halo is incredible!!

i've used BE, EM, & just about every other mineral ~ Halo looks incredibly natural (skin "glows"), & all it takes is a bit on a concealer brush to wisk away any more defined imperfections.....a bit pricey at $60, but worth every penny :thumbsup2
(btw, i found BE too coarse/heavy & EM too fine/light, so mixed what i had of each to get better coverage)

love this thread...feel like i'm home :goodvibes
