The Magical, Merry-est Christmas Trip of a Lifetime….

First, let me start off by saying thanks for reading my pre-trip report! This will be our first trip as a family without my parents, so we are SOO excited!!

Let’s start with the cast of characters…..

First, there’s me. I’m mom. I am a 27 year old stay at home mom to 2 kiddos. I have been OBSESSED with Disney for as long as I can remember. As a child myself, we went on at least one trip a year to Disney, sometimes 2. I think the total count of trips for me is over 30.

Growing up, I always aspired to work for Disney. There’s nothing like Disney. The minute I walk through the Polynesian’s doors, I feel like home. I tear up when I see the castle. Needless to say, I found the love of my life up in the Midwest and of course his job can’t be transferred! So, I don’t work for Disney, but my brother does. He drives the monorail and has wanted to be a monorail driver his entire life. My mom even has video tape of him when he was around 7 years old at the Carribbean Beach and he goes “Let’s go see the monorails mom. I want to drive one!”

My husband I am going to call Goofy. :goofy: He likes Disney and has been on several trips with me, but he’s not “in love” with it the way I am. He could care less if we go or not, but when we go he always has a good time. He’s a great husband and always tries to satisfy my “Disney-whims”. He knows how important it is to me to go to Disney and I am thankful he’s so understanding! :love2:

My daughter I’m going to call Cinderella. She’s 5 (6 at the time of our vacation) and she’s the main reason we’re taking this trip. This is her fourth trip. First of all, she LOOOOVES Cinderella. Truly. She has been Cinderella for Halloween for the last 3 years and is upset because her hair isn’t “yellow like Cinderella’s”. When I say she’s the main reason we’re taking this trip, I truly mean that. We thought about postponing this trip another year, but my daughter is at a very precious and innocent stage. She truly believes Cinderella IS Cinderella and truly believes Cinderella LIVES in that castle with her Prince Charming. princess: It isn’t going to be long before she will stop believing in fairy tales and I don’t want to miss that chance with her.

My son I am going to call Bashful. He will be 23 months old at the time of our vacation (currently 15 months old) and is the quietest :ssst: , most shy little boy I have ever met. When he was a baby, I used to joke with my husband that I felt like I was at home during the day by myself because he was so quiet. This is his first trip.

Now, I have been planning our own Disney vacation for what seems like forever. We have gone several times since Cinderella has been born, but always with my parents. We have always shared a room with them, gone to the parks with them…I have dreamed of going as a family for a few years now. I planned a trip for December ’06 and we didn’t have the money to go. When talk of December ’07 came around, I was bound and determined to go.

Being that my brother is a cast member, we knew that we could stay at a Deluxe resort with his discount. :cloud9: Now…the question is…which resort were we going to go to?

I have always dreamed of going to the Grand Floridian. Goofy and I stayed there once when we were dating and I love that hotel. :cloud9:

BUT, we have also stayed at the Polynesian several times and it feels like home to us.

Goofy and I went back for weeks and weeks about where to stay. Everytime we’d talk, his answer was “it’s your trip, wherever you want to go”. (see why I love this man?? )

At the end of the day, we (or should I say I) decided to stay at the Polynesian. By staying there, we saved ourselves some money and we extended our trip 2 days! Yay!!

I searched high and low for pictures of my family. Of course, there aren't any pictures of me whatsoever (except for the picture of me in my bathing suit that Goofy snuck in)

Here's Goofy with Bashful at his first birthday: (you can even see a mickey box in the background!)

INSTALLMENT 2: How did this trip come to be?

Every year, Goofy and I always wanted to take the kids to Disney, but we never had the money. So, every year, my parents would take us. They paid for the hotel, food, airfare…bless their heart. I have always wanted to do a family trip, just the four of us and in Jan. ’06, I got the itch to do it. I planned for 11 months. I saved money, made dinner reservations, and in the end, we were short. We didn’t have the money to go and I was heartbroken over Christmas. We spent our Christmas vacation time sitting in our house, watching tv. :happytv: Goofy was so upset that he couldn’t take me to Disney that we “boycotted” Christmas. We didn’t’ run around like a bunch of chickens with our heads cut off, running to “so and so’s house”. We sat and were depressed.

So, after our wretched Christmas in ’06, I began planning in January ’07. I was bound and determined to take this trip and I didn’t care what I had to do.

We knew we wanted to stay at the Polynesian, but when? Due to previous years, I had decided that I wanted to avoid Christmas altogether. Christmas time with Goofy’s family is awful and I would rather avoid it, so we decided that we were going from December 16-December 25. Goofy took off of work immediately and I set about to plan!

Being that I grew up with Disney and my brother is a cast member, I didn’t need much help with the “where to eat” or “where to stay” dilemma. I KNEW.

I immediately searched for airfare and found Midwest Express for $178/person from Milwaukee to Orlando. Yay! Great deal! :yay:

INSTALLMENT 3: Itinerary

Now, I am a planner...Yes, I am an organization freak. I have a chart...yes, a chart of where we're going each day. :rolleyes1

We added 2 nights onto our trip because I KNEW our schedules would be jam packed. Here’s the itinerary I’ve got scheduled!

Day 1: December 16th—Chef Mickey’s and maybe a little Magic Kingdom afterwards...;)

Day 2: December 17th---Kona Cafe for breakfast and 1900 Park Fare for Dinner....also a Magic Kingdom day!

Day 3: December 18th---Restaurantasaurus for breakfast...an Animal Kingdom day...at night time, we will be going to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party...

Day 4: December 19th---An MGM day, finished off with Mickey's Backyard BBQ

Day 5: December 20th--- Start the day off with a little Cinderella's Royal Table, go to the Wonderland Tea Party in the afternoon and finish the day off with the Magic Kingdom..

Day 6: December 21st—Perfectly Princess Tea Party in the afternoon and then we're off to Epcot where we'll eat at Akershush and watch the fireworks.

Day 7: December 22nd---Can you believe it? A BLANK DAY.....YES, a blank day!!

Day 8: December 23rd---Ohana's for breakfast, the bippity boppity boutique and then off to the Magic Kingdom!!

Day 9: December 24th---The Magic Kingdom all day and then we're going to have our Christmas Dinner at the Liberty Tree Tavern...

WARNING: CUTE CLOTHING DURING THE ENTIRE TRIP!

Like I said in my previous posts, I am a planner. I am also the type of mom who's children look adorable at every possible moment. It's an obsession..

I already admitted that I had charts for my trip, but I also have charts for my children's clothing. Yes, it's a sickness...

To get ready for this trip, I am having outfits made (or making) for every single day of this vacation for both kids. Nuts? Yup!

Here's a few I already have:

Bashful's outfit for our plane ride: (also having a shirt made for Cinderella to match!)

I am enjoying your pre trip report. The anticipation is so
much fun!!!:thumbsup2 OMG, you made the kids clothes??
They are adorable!! I'll hope you'll continue to let us in on
all the planning!!:goodvibes
ps: do you make and sell kids clothing??

I dabble in making their clothes, but everything pictured so far has not been made by me. Keep watching! There are going to be ADORABLE clothes coming up!

All this and you are not going til DECEMBER!!!!??????:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Um...in my introduction, I clearly stated (Yes, I think I did) that we were supposed to go in December of 2006. Of course, being the planner that I am, I started planning the trip in January of 2006, so technically I have been planning this trip for 2 years.

I don't know....2 years and only a handful of outfits...I don't think that necessarily qualifies me for the nuthouse. ;)

Ok. . .so maybe I just skimmed the "words". . .I was looking for the clothes that were promised in a post that you had on the family board!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Well. . .we are going for a QUICK weekend. . .and I will have to change dd4 a few times a day to get in her outfits!!! :lmao:

Hee Hee...that's okay, just wait until I'm done though! :lmao: I haven't touched the tip of the iceberg. I have several outfits waiting to be completed.

I have charts for my children's clothing. Yes, it's a sickness...

:rotfl: :rotfl: I have one too!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: And yes, it is a sickness!!! I didn't have anything planned except a Christmas outfit to wear to MVMCP until I found the boutique thread on the family board and the DISigners that make awesome graphics!!! I now have every outfit planned and color coded on my chart to coordinate with event/park!!! dh thinks I'm totally insane, but that's ok at least the kids will look great!!!

OMG! Those clothes have got to be the cutest I've ever seen!

Wonder if I could get my 10 year old to let me do that to his clothes? :rotfl2:

I miss having a little one!!!

I love your pre-trip report!!!

Oh, thank you for reading it! You're one of the only ones! ;)

Thank you for the kind words about my kiddos clothes. My daugher is almost 6 and I know my time with her is limited. My son is only 16 months, so I've got a few years where he can be "cute" and not be dorky! :)

Keep watching for more clothes! I'm working hard sewing!

I also have my clothing coordinated with our parks......it truly is sick... :rotfl:

My husband also thinks I'm crazy, but being the good sport that he is, he just silently rolls his eyes. :lmao:

Oh boy oh boy...it was not good for me to have found your thread...:sad2: I found it from the Kid's Disney Boutique thread. I absolutely love love love  these outfits. I have a DD2 and DD3 and DD9. Fortunately for my DH we are leaving in a few days and all I had time for was one set of shirts and some bows....but.....if we ever go back to the Mouse's House (and we will) I will have to have a "meeting of the sewing minds" with you. I love your ideas and all the adorable appliques. Wow!

You need to edit this post so you can take credit for those awesome outfits you made!! Didn't you make a pink and white tropical floral for Ohana?

We don't technically have a trip planned until May of 2009 but I'm already buying fabric and patterns :rolleyes1

Linda I hope you and your family have the trip of a lifetime! I bet they get lots of attention with their custom outfits.
