MM&Y is set to close Sept 3rd for refurbishment. They are moving the projectors back further away from the castle and are creating an entirely new show including a new name! It is set to debut before the "holiday" season. Obviously that's open to interpretation. I just saw the show last Saturday, so I'm glad I saw it recently if I don't get to see it again before closing!

I mentioned this on a previous thread, but...

I'm sad it will be down for my trip in October. I love the show. BUT, I'm crossing my fingers they're going to bring the Glow with the Show technology to WDW with the new show. Then I'll consider the refurb totally worth the wait! :thumbsup2

This could be linked to the fact that Wishes! would be going too to make way to a new nighttime spectacular...

We'll see but in my opinion, they would have announce that big show earlier...

That Sucks, I was really hoping to see it September 19 for our trip :( I never got to see it.

Me too! We're there from September 12 - 26. Absolutely gutted I won't get to see it :(

I don't know why they'd move the projectors further away.. Seems rather odd. I'm all for updating the show but there's no reason to stop it to make it better :b

I think it has to do with sight lines, they don't want the projectors to be so obvious maybe. I also think since it's a new show it requires more test and adjust time than just adding an overlay into an existing show.

Regarding Wishes, there has been rumor they are going to replace it with something more similar to Dream, but that's not what's happening here, at least not yet. I'm kind of surprised they are replacing this show so soon.

It'll be interesting to see what they do with it. The technology still fascinates me. I love hearing the crowd go ooouuuu when the first colorful reveal of the castle comes on. It's one of the few things left I can look at and say "yeah, that's how Disney does things." They've kept the show fresh with seasonal overlays for xmas, Vday, summer, and now are completely replacing it.

Sadly, one of the downsides of coming in the off season are things like this.

has this actually been confirmed yet?

Several non offical Disney sites have said that they have confirmation. As far as I know, Disney has not said anything......???

To me, it just seems like this is a little bit of a slap in the face. Most people plan their vacation a year in advance and really look forward to seeing things like this and Disney announces it just a few weeks before they do it. I know it's off-peak and all but still. :confused3

I am VERY upset!! We are going down on September 15th and we won't get to see it! :confused3 I was reallylooking forward to it. I have been watching all the closings and refurbishments and I would be fine with any closed ride but NOT the wishes show. I feel like that is what helps to make it so magical! I am sooo sad. :sad2: What a huge disappointment! With all the money we have put into this trip I sure hope everything else will make up for it! :guilty:

Just FYI... Wishes is NOT closing. The Magic Memories, and YOU show was a projected castle show that was done prior to the WISHES fireworks. It is entirely separate and it's ending to prepare for the next projected castle show will not impact the WISHES fireworks (and Tink's flight) at all.
