Hi everybody,

We just changed our dummy cruise booked on the Halloween week Fantasy trip to this transatlantic!

It will be me and my Dear Boyfriend, we live in Geneva Switzerland, and daaaaaamn it's gonna be a long time wainting!!

(I also just asked to be added to the FB group)

I'll come back later with the tastings and groups we would like to participate in.

YIHAAAA!

EDIT: For those who come from Europe, what kind of plane ticket did you book to come back from San Juan? I only saw Condor with a stop in Frankfurt...

Welcome to all of you joining our wonderful WBTA cruise!!! Seems that a number of you joined after signing up from other DCL cruises - that is awesome!!!
We do have a very active group, both here on the DIS and on our FB page. So happy that you will be "counting down" with us.

Hi
Just to be sure, can the people who have put the thing together confirmed it?
Are we on the FE in room 6044
Are we on the secret mickey list?
Are we on the WBTA pins? We want 4

Thanks! Looking forward to checking out the FB group too...will have to send in my request tonight.

Welcome aboard!
Welcome! Iceland AND Paris AND Barcelona AND a cruise - awesome!!!

Thanks! We are SO looking forward to it. It should be quite the whirlwind tour! Oddly enough these are all places neither of us have been even though Beata has been all over the rest of Europe.

We also found a great price on American from San Juan.

So excited, just finally got my airfare booked! I had the San Juan to Dallas booked a while ago on American. Flying back on Monday and using my miles so cost me a whopping $2.50.:cool1:

The hard part was finding a reduced business class award to get over to there. I wanted a stop in London overnight - that way I can see a show. Ended up on American from Dallas straight to London - Heathrow and then early the next morning on British Airways from London into Barcelona. So I am arriving in Barcelona noon-ish on Thursday. Even with the BA fees, ended up being $90.10 for Business class the whole way so no extra baggage fees.:yay:

So for all y'all from the UK - do you have any suggestions on where to stay that is: not expensive, close to the theatres, and close to a tube stop to get me back to Heathrow the next morning?

Thanks!

Cristi

It is official...we booked last week on our Wonder cruise! :). I requested to join the FB page.
Rm 2111:
Starlit (me)
DD (4yrs at sail)
DS (20 months at sail)

This is our big trip to celebrate surviving another deployment for DH (I try to plan something big at the 2/3 mark to distract & "reset" us!). We will be heading to Barcelona about 10 days before the cruise and staying in an apt I found. I've seen most of Europe except Spain so I'm excited! Contemplating adding 2-3 days onto Puerto Rico but not sure....

Starting to stalk flights now but I've never flown to Europe during high season or done 1 way so I'm not sure what is a good price! We are coming from Chicago and flights to Europe are sitting in the $700s ($200 to get back from PR). Hoping they drop a bit!

For me it was cheaper to do two separate flights to get to Barcelona from Canada. I'm flying with Icelandair but it was cheaper to fly into London and then do a separate flight to Barcelona.

Is your husband AD or Guard? If he's active have you thought about flying Space-A? Dover has flights all the time going to Rota, just kind of have to stalk their FB page (Dover passenger terminal) to see what the seat release generally looks like.

We're currently in Turkey, and to fly on Turkish air to Barcelona is about the same price that you're looking at to fly from Chicago to Barcelona. No kidding its ridiculous. Lol so we're thinking of flying into Rota a week prior Space-A (getting from Turkey to Rota is fairly easy) and then taking the train from Seville(just north of Rota) to Madrid, then to Barcelona depending on how much time we have. If not we'll skip Madrid and take the express train straight to Barcelona.

I've also noticed, if you're willing to wait and possibly cause yourself a coronary... Lol that tickets plummet 3-5 days out from the actual flight date. We've had to buy my hubby a ticket a couple of times this way when he's come to visit us in Turkey (we're in separate orders this assignment) and we've had great luck with vayaname (sp?) getting tickets half price by waiting until 2 days out. But our dates have always been semi flexible within a few days or so so this was an easy option for us.

But this to will be our 'big' trip together. :) me and hubby will have been 2 years apart and it will be our PCS cruise bringing us back home to the States and me and DH back together to the same assignment. Definitely going all out for this one! Lol :)

He is AD :) I did space-A to Europe last deployment but that was in late Sept so flights were easy to grab as a Cat 4......late August seems to be almost impossible! Blah!

There is actually a cheap flight from Chi-BCN on Turkish Airlines but it arrives at midnight. Not sure I want to deal with two cranky kids in a new country at that time. Hoping for a Xmas or New Years sale to grab. Haha!

After "borrowing" miles from my daughters, we had enough miles to book 2, one way business class tickets from Denver to Barcelona through Frankfurt! We also got really good prices on Delta tickets home from San Juan! Now to find decent accommodations that won't break the bank in Barcelona!

Yea but with him you're a Cat 3.. Lol

That's great you found some decent tickets to BCN! :) haha I'm shocked they are so expensive and I'm already over halfway there! Lol

What rooms did you book? We should definitely either try to be table mates for dinner or at least meet up and have a drink one or two nights. :) we already have one common denominator! :) We should set up a military meet anyways for everyone on the cruise who's either prior, retired, Reserve or in any way shape or form ever been a part of the military. :)

Welcome aboard! Our first transatlantic, our youngest was 15 months old and our oldest turned five a couple days prior to embarkation. Such a great age to cruise with!

Congrats!! We're still figuring out pre-cruise, but know we will plan to be in Barcelona two days prior to embarkation. I need about 7k more miles to book airfare. We can also fly standby, but I am really not wanting to do the standby game with the kiddos. Did it to Europe previously when it was just DH and I, but now I'm spoiled and like actual tickets, hence saving all my credit card points. Need to go shopping to get that taken care of!! :rotfl2:

We actually did a cruise to support US Veterans last month on Princess. It was awesome! Over 1700 active or retired military onboard, with meetups for the different branches each night. We are not military (just our grandparents were) but it was great to see.

I got emails about that cruise and really wanted to do it. I am glad it was a lot of fun. My Dad, who will be cruising with us, is retired Navy, and loves to visit with anyone and everyone. I thought it would be fun to put him on that ship.

We're doing something similar. Iceland air with a stopover in Reykjavik and on to Paris. Hoping on the train from there. Should be fun! What day are you flying out? We're leaving on the 29th from Toronto.

It really was a neat experience. Tons of lecturers onboard, Taps played nightly, etc. Definitely a unique cruise.

We flew Iceland Air home from the EBTA this summer with a stopover at KEF for a couple nights, and loved, loved, loved Iceland!!! Enjoy!!

Sounds good to us too, DH is retired RAF

Why did I not realize that?!? Very cool! (Or maybe I did and forgot!) :goodvibes
