Great news :goodvibes hopefully you won't need it though.

Our cats will be spoilt next year as DD will still be at home, normally a neighbour looks after them. Mind you one of them could do with losing weight, I wouldn't need to feed her up :rotfl2:

Flights are booked we are flying into London and then doing a separate flight from London to Barcelona. It was a lot cheaper to do that then one flight to Barcelona. With all the flights it was under $1000 to get us to Barcelona and back from San Juan to Vancouver.

Booked!
Nashville to Barcelona on Air Canada for under $800 per person. Checked with Air Canada and we are good to go. SO EXCITED!!!!!

Any hotel suggestions?

That's my sticking point, hotel in Barca for 3 adults. Can get reasonable rates for 2 adults but struggling for a 3 in a room, maybe I am being too fussy wanting 4 or 5 stars I just know the Spanish rating system, under 4 star can be hit & miss.

We did too! What day are you flying from Toronto to BCN? We are going Thursday night to Friday morning :)

We are flying Friday, arriving on Sat morning. I wanted to leave earlier but have work obligations.
I wish I could have left a day earlier to look around BCN for a day!

Hi everyone,
I know we checked in a long time ago. Things have just gotten so crazy I haven't been on the boards in a long time. We're getting so excited for this cruise and knew it was time to start planning things. Just trying to decided where we want to stay and what we want to do. Glad to see so many are getting their airfare booked. That just means it's so much closer :goodvibes

That is great price from/to Vancouver.

We used Apsis Porta Marina this year for our med cruise. It has a separate bedroom and bed in the lounge/kitchen. 4 star and close to a metro station. It's on trivago. We always struggle when cruising as a family to find a decent family room, but this one was brilliant, new and spacious. Not too expensive either

Just had a quick look, cheapest for a triple room I see is around £120, what sort of price did you pay?

All room prices are VERY high in Barcelona!

We booked a room based on trip advisor reviews rather than star ratings.

Our choice is #25 of 524 in Barcelona, however the star rating is low, thus until I actually stay there, I won't recommend them or even state the name. I don't want to be responsible for someone else's unpleasant stay!

As a note, this small 24 room boutique hotel does have at least one triple room left.

Hi all! I think I can safely add our family here as we have now secured our flights. We booked this while on the HalloWonder cruise, but we weren't sure we'd be able to proceed based on flights. After much searching, and hitting a couple of good deals, we now have flights booked and the trip is a go!

We'll be in three rooms:

1) My husband and I
2) My mother-in-law and 7 year old daughter
3) Our good family friends

We cannot wait to go and are super excited to see the new Magic! This will be my first trip ever to Europe, and the first time we've ever taken a two week vacation as a family.

Look forward to meeting you all there!

Hi everyone! We just got off the Wonder on Saturday and booked this sailing while on board. We're not 100% sure we can pull it off, but the price was right and with the low deposit we went ahead and booked.

The main concern is my daughter missing 2 weeks of school, just now sure if that's doable. She will be 11 and just starting 6th grade at the time. I have no problem with pulling her out for a week, she's an honor student and never falls behind. I guess I'm just curious how the rest of you are handling this? Does your school start later? Do you home school? I know there's not a ton of kids on this sailing, but from looking at the list there's a handful her age.

We've never done more than 7 days so this would be a new experience for us. We all LOVE sea days so it sounds like a wonderful trip.

Hi Andrea

Welcome aboard!!

From a UK point of view, both transatlantics are in school term time, the eastbound is during main exam time.

On the WBTA 2010, the kids were up on deck 10 doing homework sessions with the YA team, so no-one missed out on the fun with doing homework they took with them from school

Wow - In all of the cruises we have been on I have NEVER seen this many posts from so many people on a roll call! Amazing!

We are travelling with GleefulReader (see a few posts above). Just my wife and I in our cabin (I have the number around here SOMEwhere :) ), no kids.

This will be our third on Disney, first TA, and 8th cruise overall. First time to Europe for me!

Our current itinerary is to do a stop over in Iceland for the weekend, fly to Paris for 1 night, hop on the train to Barcelona to hook up with the rest of the Framily (Gleeful reader and the gang) for a few days and then sail away with all of you! Longest vacation we have ever done. So looking forward to it.

Count me in for Beer and Whiskey tastings!

Wonder if I can learn Spanish in less than 10 months... :)

Have a good one!

Adam

Well it's almost official that we will be on this cruise. I talked to DCL and they have oxygen on board so I feel safer if I end up with an asthma attack.

If you *must* have an asthma attack, I can vouch that DCL IS the place to have it. :thumbsup2

I had a humdinger of an attack on the Magic in 2004 - in 1 hour, I had a nurse visit, blood gas (this was before the finger sensor thingy) and couple other tests, doc visit, inhalation treatmnt, iv meds, steroid pills prescribed AND dispensed, bill, and done. Back home at the time, that would have taken me half a day and three stops at different locations.

DO NOT worry!

Thanks! Now I just have to make it from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the ship without having one.

I wish someone would film how far away I can be outside from a smoker and still have an attack. My friend was at the park with me and was shocked at how far away I was from someone outside the park smoking and how fast I ended up having an attack. Unfortunately, I don't want to be exposed as every time I am it seems worse than the one before. I know having even the sniffles can make it worse.

I was able to watch this years Christmas Parade without anyone smoking as the temperature was -11 degrees Celsius. I can only guess that the smokers didn't want to take off their gloves to smoke. I usually try to avoid all the community events as I just can't chance it.

I hope you can join us. My (then) 10 yo, 5th grader will be on this cruise, as will my 7 yo 2nd grader. But because we have year round schools and they have a 3 week break in September, they are only missing 2 days of school.
However we also did the 2 week East bound Panama Canal cruise this past September, and our tablemate - a 4th grader - was missing school. She was doing all of her school assignments for the time she was missing so she spent most of the first week doing that, then relaxed and did nothing the 2nd week.
