The Magic is Back - Share your Experience! Superthread

The wait times seem to ebb and flow based on meal times and the hottest areas of the park. We haven’t waited more than 20 mins for most rides. We rode Big Thunder, Pirates and Haunted Mansion within an hourish. Snow White was 30 mins. Walked on Carousel, Smugglers Run, Mark Twain. And, we’re still going! Didn’t book dining today...have just used mobile a couple of times...worked out great for a break in the shade!

Can I just say how wonderful it is to be getting wait times updates again??!!!!

It was such a lovely day!! We were at DL and tackled 14 attractions + a leisurely table service lunch. Rode in the first horse-drawn trolley down Main Street pulled by Maximus in his first-ever full-production drive. He did great and the ride down Main Street with the staff waving and greeting was simply amazing. It was a "reverse parade" of sorts ... lol.

Blessed. Happy. Relieved. Hopeful ... and still grinning ear to ear.

Thanks DLR Staff: {{ APPLAUSE!! }} Outstanding job!

Sifting through photos - I count 29 rides, 18 character interactions (plus some that we just saw/waved at from a distance), a bunch of snacks, and we also went to Lamplight Lounge. Not bad for 11 hours.

Wait times and crowd patterns definitely fluctuate quite a bit, and I’ll be interested to see reports from the days ahead. We had an amazing time!

Sounds totally magical! Did your DD get her birthday solo ride on GOTG? What a memorable day and a birthday celebration worth waiting for! :)

We arrived at harbor around 5 and then waited to be let into the esplanade. We were let in at 8 and immediately got on pirates- I cried. The crowds were light, lines were not bad-they moved quickly. Every ride time was about 30 minutes except for times where it was periodically higher than that, but whenever a ride was long we rode the other ones until the line got shorter. We rode everything at least twice (except for rise of course but thankfully we got a boarding group) including snow white, splash 4 times, and had the time of our lives. THE best experience ever and i am so excited to do it again tomorrow, but this time starting at DCA!!!! I literally did things we never did in our trips to Disney before and I can say that we literally did a year's worth of rides!

I'm hoping the capacity remains around the same for the remainder of the weekend at least.

Actually, I asked a cm today because I left my ID at the hotel and we were lined up in esplanade. I was ready to plead a case and she said that the certification is the only thing we needed to do and they will not check for ids at the gate. Now she did not say if this was a short term thing or not, but I feel that if it were, she would have mentioned it.

They were checking ID randomly early this morning (even during the crush of people) and increased check frequency as the day went on. I think you got lucky.

I must have! I wonder why I was told that certification was fine? Was it because I was part of the first group? I was terrified that I didn't have my ID and no one in my line got checked for it either so that's when I Really felt relieved. The cm just said "they won't be checking IDs" so maybe that's short for they won't be checking IDs for this group, this morning🤷‍♀️

It's definitely frustrating that was said to you since that's not what happened universally :(

Someone in a group I'm in went through the gates before 9am and said the group before them and their group all had IDs checked. Many confirmed a similar experience. But for everyone who said their ID was checked, there seemed to be someone right there saying theirs wasn't.

Disney did send a reminder for guests to remember their IDs ahead of opening so ID checks definitely seem to be the official procedure. Because of this, the best advice (and I'll include this in the first page information posts when I finish editing them) is to not forget ID.

That's alot of people without their ids checked. They literally meant it when they said "may" check ids at the gate. My husband was watching the line to the left of us as well- no ID check either.

For sure the responsible, within the rules thing to tell people is to expect ID to be checked.

29 rides in 11 hours! That sounds like HEAVAN!

Any site to keep track when the park will be open to non-california residents? I am assuming non- California residents cannot purchase a ticket now for July and make reservations?

This thread answers about the tickets:

https://www.disboards.com/threads/a-note-about-purchasing-disneyland-tickets-discussions.3835144/

Disney has conflicting information about the tickets, but it's been determined by MaryJo that the recording and verbal confirmation over the phone is sufficient for out of state to purchase tickets and talk about having done so.

However, yes, that is correct that you cannot make reservations until it is confirmed the parks are allowing out of state guests.

As for where to watch for news, I would just keep an eye on these forums or any of Disney's social media outlets :confused3 . I'll update the information on the first page when out of state are allowed as well, but that will be after the news has broken.

Our experience: we arrived at M&F shortly after 7a. There was no line to enter parking. We made our way down, went through security and temp screening, then to the tram walkway. We got in line here and from that point we waited about an hour.

we entered the park around 8:30-ish. We popped into the emporium so I could get my Disneyland ears with the retro flags.

Then we did our traditional start to Pirates.

The line was short but it seemed to take long with the social distancing. I’d say about 15-20 minutes. We usually walk on first thing on the morning.

Next we went to Haunted Mansion

This line was maybe 25 minutes. There are a couple of really cool additions in this ride so pay attention.

Prior to HM, we had stopped at the mint julep bar for beignets. Now we know mobile ordering had been “recommended” didn’t know it was *required*. They wouldn’t let you order at the window and our soonest window for pickup was about an hour. So we ordered, then took the train for a full ride around the park. I can’t recall if this was before or after HM.

We then noticed the lines were much better in Tomorrowland. In fact I feel the majority of the crowd was in Adventrueland the whole day. We walked on ST and then SM was only10 mins. Then SW for 10-15 and then walk on to AIW.

We shared the fried chicken for lunch at Plaza Inn.

They had the food in to go clamshells in a large grocery style brown bag with handles. I did not care for this. But I later figured it out that it was due to the state requirements for indoor dining at theme parks. You could take your food to go and find a table. That way it’s not indoor dining.

we then rode BTMRR for a 5-10 min wait and then to Splash for about a 15 min wait.

Finally, we decided to take on the 45 min wait for indiana. They did not use the Indiana queue except for pass through. Instead, the whole of the jungle cruise queue was snaked and turned, up and down the stairs and wrapped in and out of the building for Indiana. It was crazy!

we planned to go to the Tiki room but there was a wait and no shade over there and by this time it was pretty hot. Around 3p the train was closed for the day and we left the park about this time.

Final observations:
I think all the rides had been sped up.
CMs were awesome always welcoming us back.
There was a lot of management in the park.
Dining tables are everywhere.
The park was in beautiful condition—everything looked newly painted; the landscaping was immaculate! All the things we really appreciate about Disneyland!
Crowds were light everywhere except Adventureland;
and Main Street and Tomorrowland have never been easier to walk through.
It was wonderful to be back but the lack of the atmosphere entertainment did make it feel slightly less magical.

Few people in Tomorrowland.
