The MAGIC is Back!!! - 6th Sept 2014 WBTA - Come & join the fun! - PART 2

so if I am not doing fish extenders, how will I get my scrapbook exchange? Will I need to put something outside my door?

The item/items can be put on your fish or if people bag them they can hang them on the cabin door. For me, if needed, I'd find your cabin steward to have them place it inside. There are plenty of ways!! We will not leave you out!!

Hi everyone !
Just a reminder that the candy swap grp will be open though the end of June. We'd love to have you join us all. Go to the first page of the thread, scroll down and find our information, and PM it along to me.

By the first week in July, all members will have a spread sheet listing all our candy swap members, their room numbers, and their interests and/or allergies. One of our grp members suggested we might also list our sections of the U.S. or country as it might add an interesting variety. Sounds like a great idea.:thumbsup2

Can you believe our countdown is getting so close now????:cool1:
Thanks.....Caroline

Having only booked officially a week ago I am starting to panic about the fact that its only 11 weeks away! I need to think about whether I need to go shopping for more clothes lol. Can not believe how time is ticking away! 79 days makes it sound real and on Saturday I can actually choose my seat on my flight home!

As others have said if you don't have a Fish Extender I tend to put my scrapbook stuff in an envelope and then place it in the little fish outside your room so don't worry you can still get them!

Ok I need this last message to be able to send PM's... Cause I'm really interested in the Candy Swap...we have a few original & interesting candies here in Switzerland :)

You need to bring your posts up to 10 so that you can pm people (just tell the group about yourself, who you are traveling with and ask any questions you may have). The information about all of the planned events is on the 1st and 2nd page of this thread. Most have already closed their sign up but there are still a few things you can join.

Hi Chewbette - i received your PM, added you to our group, and look forward to meeting you. If you look back to the first page, you will see your names have been added. :cool1:

Welcome! Just spend some time on the first couple of pages to get up to speed on everything that the DisBoards community is lining up. Additionally towards the end of the posts you can see what tours (outside of the ones Disney has available) that folks are scheduling.

We are also arriving BCN on Thursday around 12 noon and looking to do the Hop On Hop Off Bus around Barcelona that afternoon.

We completed the paperwork after shopping at El Corte Ingles, but discovered the refund could only be handled at the airport. Since it was the day before our last WBTA (2011), I considered our taxes a contribution to the Spanish economy :goodvibes. I don't know if anything has changed since then.

Thanks Pat!
i will try to check in the web:) and let everyone know.

I found this info that might be useful !
Leaving Barcelona via cruise, car or train.

If you are not leaving Barcelona by plane the reclaim procedure is a little different because you cannot cash your VAT refund cheques in Barcelona.

If your are leaving Barcelona by any other means of transport ask for a VAT Reclaim envelope in the shop in which you buy your goods. The Spanish name for this is "Sobre" You then collect your VAT cheques as normal from the shops.

Before you leave Barcelona e.g. on your cruise you have to visit the customs at the port terminal (or wherever the customs point is for you departure from Spain) and present them with you VAT cheques and they will stamp them for you. You must do this before you leave Europe. When you return to your country send the cheques back to the VAT claim office in Madrid in the Envelope that you picked up from the shop/s.

Unfortunately if you are not actually flying out of Barcelona you cannot just go to the airport and cash your cheques. The cashing of the VAT cheques in Barcelona is a service only available for those that leave Barcelona by plane.

When you send back your VAT claim you have a number of options for obtaining your money. You can opt to receive a cheque, or choose a bank transfer or wire. These options are available on the form that you send back to the VAT reclaim office. It's best to opt for the direct transfer to your account as most banks charge a substantial fee for cashing international cheques - around €30.00 in Spain.

It will take approximately 3 months to process your claim and for you to receive your refund.

You follow the same procedure as for the cruise if you are leaving Spain by any other means e.g. train or car. But in these situations your cheques are stamped at the customs office before you leave Spain.

Just a reminder to anyone who was thinking of doing Linked Dining with the group, the deadline to sign up with me or Susan (Geffric) is June 30th. I am caught up to all responses to date, so if you have not received a confirmation from either Susan or I, please resend your message.

Thanks to all who've signed up already! Susan and I will be reviewing the information soon to match tables as best as we can.

Ah, yes, it all comes back.... This option was available to us a few years ago, too, but we decided it wasn't worth the bother. If you're spending a lot, it might make sense, but I need things to be simple!

It doesn't sound that difficult, but definitely a delayed gratification of getting your refund. I doubt we will spend enough to make it worthwhile, but maybe if we can put all the cheques together in one batch, and have my sister who is flying home from BCN turn them in, it may be worthwhile for us.

Does anyone know if an extended family can turn in one batch, or does the info have individual names/addresses etc on it? I don't think I have ever spent enough in Europe to do this (last travelled there as a college student)

Hi everyone haven't been on the boards for along time. Some issues have come up and I will not be going on the cruise. Can you please remove us on all the activities? Thanks and I hope to cruise with all of you in the future.
