The MAGIC is Back!!! - 6th Sept 2014 WBTA - Come & join the fun! - PART 2

I'm more caught up in the details for this cruise than the Disney Race (10K and Half Marathon) I have on August 30 and 31. Part of me feels I shouldn't have signed up for this race that was so close to my departure date for our cruise but I do enjoy runDisney events.

I think you're mad running that close to the holiday but it will be a great reward!

Welcome new people!

Hello,
could we be added also

Tania and Daniel room 6138.

Our first cruise and celebrating 20th wedding anniversary.

Can we still sign up for some activities(Mojito tasting for ex.)or is everything fully booked?

Welcome Tania & Daniel -- I have added you to the rollcall for the Group Navigator.
It is our first cruise too -- and we are celebrating our 15th Wedding Anniversary. Not long to wait now! :cool1:

ludari -- completing those Run Disney events will give you a great sense of achievement right before the more relaxing time on the cruise -- go for it.

Thanks Gismo and Claire. Disney races are addictive and I even signed up for another one this morning (Tinkerbell 5K, 10K and half). I forgot to mention that I also have another runDisney event (Avengers 5K, 10K & half) in November. So my training will continue while we are on our cruise.

Quite a few celebrating anniversaries this cruise, we are also, our 25th.:thumbsup2

Has anyone ever done the Disney Antigua Zipline tour? We have signed up and would like to know if anyone has enjoyed it.

Thanks,
Connie & Dan

You will have to give me pointers on running multiple races during one weekend. I am only running the Avenager half and Star Wars half. I am thinking about signing up for the Pixie Dust Challenge. Just wondering if that will be to much for me as I am not a spring chicken.

The "Til We Meet Again" lunch will be held on September 16, noon at Lumiere's. This will also be the time and location for the Secret Mickey Reveal.

If you would like to join us, please PM me the number in your party. I need to get a total headcount to give to the dining room.

Hope you can join us!!

I agree that not just Disney races but running is addictive. How did you get signed up for the Tinkerbell already? I thought that opening registration day was August 12? I tried to sign up for the Princess in July but could not get through within the first hour and then I had a two hour meeting, and by the time I tried to sign up again the races were sold out. I even had the cruise booked for following the race. I think that is the best way to do it. Focus on the running, and then relax on the cruise. Enjoy your races and see you on the ship for the Run Across the Atlantic. I am assuming that you are signed up.

I am not spring chicken either, but last fall I ran a 5K in the morning then a 10 miler in the evening. I had sprained my ankles about 8 weeks prior to the race, so I had to take the 10 miler a little easy, but I still was able to get through it. I think the key to the multiple runs, is pretraining, lots of water prior to the race, and figuring out the nutrition that works for you.

Annb - Running multiple races is not easy and requires training and dedication. This year I completed the Dopey Challenge at WDW (5K, 10K, Half and Full Marathons) which started on a Thursday and ended on Sunday (48.6 miles). The following weekend I ran at Disneyland and completed Tinkerbell (5K, 10K and Half Marathon) which is 22.4 miles. For a grand total of 71 miles in 7 days! BTW, I'm no spring chicken either and around 200lbs but I get it done and so can you.

Relaxin' - I was able to register for Tinkerbell because DVC owners and annual pass holders are allowed to register one week in advance. Spots are limited and they go quick so you have to get in fast just like all runDisney events. BTW, I didn't sign up for Run Across Atlantic but I will be running to keep up with my training.

For those of you who signed up for the Veterans' Meet we have some options and I'd like to get your feedback. It has been suggested that we hold the gathering on 9/11. However, this is the day that we will be in Tenerife and many of us will be ashore during the day. All ashore is 1645 and we could meet then but those with early dinner would be rushed. The other option would be to hold the gathering earlier in the cruise. It could an informal gathering at one of the restaurants during the regular lunch hour, it could be just a get-together at O'Gills Pub, or I can arrange a private room with a bartender. Let's hear it!

I'm doing both of those races as well! The avengers will be my first half...I'm really nervous!

Maybe we can have a meetup onboard of the people running disney races! I will have my husband and son cheering me on (and my sister and her husband are running as well), but it would be nice to see some other friendly faces; especially since I will be at the back of the pack and need encouragement!!

I'm pretty flexible about the date for our Veterans' Meet. I do prefer a meeting at O'Gills Pub over lunch or dinner but like I said I am flexible.

Hi Nancyelew,

I can relate to having race jitters and to this date I still have them.

I'm all for meeting up with fellow runDisney participants. Since I have completed close to 50 Disney Races (5k, 10k, half and full marathons) I would be glad to answer any questions and share my experieces.

A big thank you to everyone who paid for their pins and lanyards! Connie has placed the order with the vendors and we are so very grateful to everyone who paid on time so we could get the order placed so the pins could be delivered in plenty of time. See everyone on board!

Michael, my husband, Charles Simon, is a retired Marine, however I am the spouse who is on DISboards!!! He is at work, for the Orange County Sheriff's Dept. (and can't wait to retire from that job in a few years so we can cruise, cruise, cruise!!!), right now, but I can tell you any of your options would be fine. I do think waiting until Tenerife is too late. If you have enough interest the private room would be fun. And, if you all hit it off, there are spouses who went through the military with you that might like to meet!! Beverly
