The MAGIC is Back!!! - 6th Sept 2014 WBTA - Come & join the fun! - PART 2

On the WBTA 2011, we had someone (Daniel) coordinate a pub crawl to the different bars. We even had a t-shirt made up to commemorate the event. This was really a lot of fun, and we had a lot of people sign up for it. Does anyone know if this might happen again this time? :confused3 Just curious.....we had a good turn out for this event!

I don't know.... but we did it again EBTA 2013. I used my same shirt from WBTA 2011, created another martini glass with 2013 on it, and added that iron-on to the shirt. Like "bling" from Office Space LOL.

Well wonderful people, I've decided financially I need to skip this cruise. It was a very hard decision, I was really looking forward to it. The only thing I signed up for was a pin and I've already PM'd that person. Could you please take me off the roster? Hopefully I'll be able to book the next TA that comes around.

Have a fabulous cruise everybody :)

Sorry to see you go, but definitely keep the TA on your list!! :goodvibes

We reserved this cruise last March and just realized that we should start planning! This will be our 8th cruise, but first time travelling to Europe. We're very excited and trying to decide if we should spend a few days in Barcelona first, or visit Paris Disney then travel on to Barcelona.

For the Roll Call:
Meg, DH is Geoff, and we have a DD who is 9 and DS who is 5 Cabin #8018.

Welcome, Meg!! Yes -- try to plan something along with your pre-cruise time if you are able to spare the days. Our daughters will be 8 and 4 onboard, and this is their third DCL TA. They love it, and prefer it over WDW. Some families from the US will spend time in Barcelona (so much to see!) or Paris or other areas. I know some (including us) are taking a Med or Baltics cruise prior to embarking DCL Sept 6. NCL has "kids sail free" right now that ends at the end of this month, so we took advantage of that from Copenhagen on their 9-nt itinerary. With port-intensive cruises, the cost savings of other cruiselines appeals to us (gotta be careful sharing that on disboards - can often get flamed for acknowledging any other cruiseline exists). Last summer following EBTA we did NCL in the Med for 12 nights, which I know some are doing this year pre-cruise. There will be fewer children on WBTA compared to EBTA or other DCL cruises, so your kiddos will enjoy that CM:child ratio in the kids club or shorter lines for waterslides. I know in December onboard the Magic the lines got a little long, so this mommy is looking forward to hopefully some shorter lines on the AquaDunk for myself ;)

As of right now, hubby doesn't have his AA miles to get his ticket across the big pond, so the kids and I are flying to Scotland solo. He will hopefully catch up. We expect to reach the magic number this month and then figure out which flights he will take with that AA alliance group.

Feel free to shoot me a PM with any questions whatsoever traveling with kiddos in Europe! I'm still shopping around hotels for 4 as I have a couple held but they aren't in my favorite area (budget vs favorite area... grrr...).

Thank you for the warm welcome! This is our 8th Disney cruise - we did the Wonder cruise to Hawaii in 2012 and loved the longer time on the ship. We're currently booked on the Med before this cruise (August 30th), but my husband no longer wants to do both... he's worried about spending too much time on the ship and the kids being bored. Is that even possible????? I'm looking for alternatives for that week.

Has anyone done the Med cruise followed by a TA? Would it be too much for kids?

Thank you! We're going to take a serious look at our plans tonight and I will be PMing you with questions! I feel a little overwhelmed about the idea of travelling so long with the kids.... both have serious food allergies, so we've always been hesitant to leave the "safety" of Disney.

Has anyone done the Med cruise followed by a TA? Would it be too much for kids?

Last summer was 1 night Galveston, 14 nights DCL EBTA, 3 nights Barcelona, 12 nights NCL Med from Barcelona to Venice, 1 night Milan, 2 nights Iceland. We did change ships, but kids were never bored. At the time our youngest was just turning 3, so she did feel overwhelmed on DCL and didn't want to go in the kids club (literally, 14 nights, spent a total of 3 hours there) but in December being a little older she loved it. In Croatia on NCL we did leave them in the kids club so we could do a countryside tour with NCL, and they did fine. With all the varying activities, they loved it.

Maybe look at a different ship for the Med? I know some are doing NCL or RCCL for the Med this time. If you haven't booked flights, the Aug 26 NCL Baltics from Copenhagen is worth peeking at with kids sail free.

I am booked on an 12 night NCL Med before the WBTA.:thumbsup2

:cool1: The Med is so port intensive that it is a very different experience. But Mandy has a lot of experience and can tell you all about it as I am on the same cruise she took last year.

BTW Did we meet on the DCL Hawaii cruise? I was there too. :)

I'm all in! All arrangements have been made and paid for and now the hardest part is waiting until September to enjoy this trip.

Congrats!!

It really was! And for us lightweights, because Mickey owns all the bars onboard, it was okay if we bought a drink at the first bar and just tagged along for the socializing and laughs the rest of the afternoon. :thumbsup2 Some made it a point to order at each bar they hit though. It was fun either way :)

Hi All,

We're on this cruise as well. Haven't posted much as work has been just too busy.

This will be our 3rd TA on DCL (yes, we like sea days :)). First DCL EBTA followed by 1st Med and then a WBTA. This one we'll be doing the Southern Caribbean B2B.

Welcome aboard!! :) We were onboard with you for WBTA 2011 :thumbsup2

Well as much as we wanted to spend a few days in Disney World post cruise, we ultimately decided to spend a couple of days in Puerto Rico since we have never been there before. We have our hotel booked there and finally our flight back home.
Getting so excited about this cruise!!! :cool1:

Puerto Rico is great choice. It's all very easy. The US dollar is the official currency, and you can use postage stamps from home to send postcards.

Congrats!! And good choice on Puerto Rico. Also, if you have a pass for the national parks, you can use that in Puerto Rico as well. (Although it is very inexpensive anyway, but if you already have the pass, be sure to bring it!)

I have been a Disney fan for MANY years. Growing up in South Florida, we had lots of visits to DisneyWorld and all the other parks. It was GREAT to be that close by. And, we have cruised other lines, but this WBTA on the Magic will be my very first Disney Cruise. What do I need to know? What should I expect?

Looking forward to meeting many of you onboard!
