Alright, confession time, who liked Debbie Gibson?

:wave2:

Oooooooh, only in my dreams...
As real as it may see-ee-eeem..
It was only in my dreams.....

And how about Dr. Noah Drake? AKA Rick Springfield? Who still knows the lyrics word for word to this day? :wave2:

Jessie is a friend, yeah, I know he's been a good friend of mine
But lately something's changed that ain't hard to define
Jessie's got himself a girl and I want to make her mine

And she's watching him with those eyes
And she's lovin' him with that body, I just know it
Yeah 'n' he's holding her in his arms late, late at night

You know, I wish that I had Jessie's girl
I wish that I had Jessie's girl
Where can I find a woman like that

I play along with the charade, there doesn't seem to be a reason to change
You know, I feel so dirty when they start talking cute
I wanna tell her that I love her, but the point is probably mute

'Cos she's watching him with those eyes
And she's lovin' him with that body, I just know it
And he's holding her in his arms late, late at night

You know, I wish that I had Jessie's girl
I wish that I had Jessie's girl
Where can I find a woman like that

And I'm lookin' in the mirror all the time, wondering what she don't see in me
I've been funny, I've been cool with the lines
Ain't that the way love supposed to be

Tell me, where can I find a woman like that

You know, I wish that I had Jessie's girl, I wish that I had Jessie's girl
I want Jessie's girl, where can I find a woman like that, like
Jessie's girl, I wish that I had Jessie's girl, I want, I want Jessie's girl

duh duh duhm..... duh duh duh duh duuuuuuuuuuummmmm

And now back to your regularly scheduled program...

Busy little Maelstromers tonight, with the 80s music and getting your groove on. Hayley, this is for you (hope this posts right).

blancmange.jpg

You are my hero.

Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeellllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll's back!

But could ya stay for more than like two seconds? ZZUB's rubbin off on you.

Love the tomato juice carrot chunks story. Very funny but I bet it was painful. You know, tomato juice and carrot chunks. Acid and all. But it was funny.

Your pain is our gain.

Good Day Maelstromers,

Welcome DisneyMichelle and NicoleMarie (BTW, loving your TR) Don't worry about keeping up, it's near impossible.. Just have fun and post away...We all basically talk about random stuff and somehow it makes sense.

Mel...I love how you reference your Mom as a General. I have my own General...it's been a life of war with her...but sloooowly I'm training her. Boot camp for life !

kpk89, Kimmie,
My Cyber BFF..how ya doing girl? Have you done any "Down Dogs" lately...(Lou..Don't get too excited, it's Yoga talk).

GA...I was thinking you should market those caramels...Maybe Kitty Kat Karamels? Whatcha think? I'd buy a few lbs. We tried waking Tink up, we had early ADR's at the Castle, after breakfast we went Straight to wake up tink, somebody had already gotten to it. But we were able to look in the little dresser and see tink, that made the girls really happy.

pongo....I'm so glad you got a matron of honor...were you going to go without one completely? Life seems so exciting and hectic for you right now!

Loubon...Sorry about the braids.

Haley....Video Killed the Radio Star is the FIRST video I ever saw on MTV and I loved Square Pegs, does anyone really remember that show! I had those same glassess that SJP had. UGH!! What was the name of the cool guy that she had a crush on?

ZZUB...
ND was on cable last night...Saw the last 20 minutes. Just follow your heart, that's what I always do.

LaLa..I just started reading your TR and I am soooooo enjoying it. I was suppose to go food shopping yesterday AS SOON as DD(9) got on the bus for school.....well, I started reading your TR and got hooked...My family almost starved thanks to you... :rotfl: .I eventually tore myself away and went.

Mommypoppins... We built our house about 2.5 years ago...It was pretty stressful, but it was worth it in the end. If we had to do it all over again , we would only change a couple of things... Try not to stress out...it'll work itself out. We attempted 3 other times before we finally were successful with this house. If I can ever figure out how to post a few pics at a time I'll do it. I don't want to clog this thread up w/ pics.

On a side note, Lil' Grumpy is beginning to make sense to me... and that scares me a little. :rotfl2:

Who else here thought she was going to say she yelled out Maelstrom?

In HS we had a math teacher like that. Father Solomon. He had done missionary work in some third world country and I just think it gave him a nervous breakdown or something. He couldn't catch a break. Even his copy of his math book had the cover on it upside down and everyday a different student would tell him his book was upside down and he would patiently explain it was only the cover.

Well we used to yell out "Chop". A different student every few seconds. Finally someone would yell "Timber" and we would all fall out of our chairs. :teeth:

Can you believe I went to a Catholic Military HS? I think the 8 years prior to that the nuns totally screwed me up. I'm definitely going to H E double hockey sticks. :p

Morning Maelstrom.
Sorry my 80's were'nt taken up by pop music I was banging my head with the windows open to Ratt, Quiet Riot, Van Halen and the like.

So cum on feel the noize
Girls rock your boys
We get wild, wild, wild,
We get wild, wild, wild,
So cum on feel the noize
Girls rock your boys
We get wild, wild, wild,

RATT!!! YESS! I think my favorite album was called Reach for the sky. It had Way Cool Jr. and City to City on it. That was a great album! Man.

ANd VanHalen - they were so much better with David Lee Roth. I was excited when they got back together a few years back - though it only lasted for like 2 minutes. I actually enjoyed David Lee Roth's solo album called Skyscraper. That had some great ones on it too!

Another great group - and the first video I remember having seen - ZZ Top!

"She's got legs! She knows how to use them..." Talk about hotties!

Sounds like we have some disciples of that song on here -

1) "She's got melons! She knows how to use them..."

or perhaps...

2) "She's got back. You can crack on egg on it..."

LOL Sorry for a poor attempt at humor after only about 3 hours sleep. It was funny to me.

Blessings!
Mark

But, I'll leave you with this to warm up with:

So... while eating this past weekend, my old "Crazy For You" friend Chris and I were remembering this old prof we had. Her name was Dr. Campbell and she was a tiny old puppet lady. Her neck was fused... or something... and she couldn't turn her head at all and when she talked only her bottom jaw would move. Nothing else on her face. She was expressionless. But strangely passionate about Greek History. It was the most unbelievably boring class we ever took. And to stay awake I would have to be constantly moving. Bouncing in my chair, tapping my fingers on the desk, shuffling my feet. It was mind-numbingly boring. SHE was SO BORING. After about two weeks Chris and I figured out that the only way to survive Dr. Campbell and Ancient Greek History was to yell things out in class. To amuse ourselves and stay awake. So we started yelling things like: "Hypathia of Alexandria!", "The Battle of Pharsalus!" and "The Byzantines!". Yada. WELL! Dr. Campbell thought we loved her and her class. That we were her freakin' cheerleaders or something. So we could do no wrong. And got great marks in that class. She never got mad when we yelled. Even though the class would crack up and all concentration would be shattered. And... everyone else would wake up too. So... I had a mouthful and Chris says " Mel! Remember that time you screamed 'Pelaponnisia!' TEN times in one class?????!!!!!! " And we both started laughing SO HARD that I blew tomato juice mixed with carrot chunks out my NOSE!!!! I mean... I sprayed that beautiful, wacky chewed food combo EVERYWHERE in a twelve inch radius. Like a power washer. Of sorts. Heh, heh. Have a nice lunch. Back with the vomit stories. Later, Mel.

You see, this is why you can't go away again and leave us...These stories are epic! You should write a book....kinda like Erma Bombeck (God, does anyone remember her or have I disclosed my age here?)...about your life. It would be a best seller... for sure!

Looking forward to the vomit

stories.

Hi Malestromers! I read you all the time, but rarely post, so you don't know me. I'm Karen. I finally have something postworthy. It made my neighbors laugh anyway. My daughter is 10 and in 5th grade. She came home the other day all excited that she is memorizing the Gettysburg Address and wanted to recite what she had memorized so far. This is how it went....

Fourscore and seven years ago, our fathers brought forth on
this continent, a new nation, conceived in liberty, and dedicated
to prostitution that all men are created......(pause cause she forgot
what came next) by. That's it, the prostitution that all men are
created by.
I had a hard time not laughing, but told her we needed to review the ending. Then she wanted to know what prostitution was anyway. Now she has it perfect with proclaimation that all men are created equal. I hope I just didn't embarrass myself by posting a non-funny, but oh well. I gotta start somewhere.

Mel, if you get a chance to read this today, can you share anything about your upcoming trip? I leave in less than three weeks, I think you are sooner. I hate it the closer we get to a trip, we start rethinking everything! Anyway, that's it!

:lmao: How funny! But how sad...it's almost true of this country these days. Sex sells EVERYTHING! Funny mistake in wording, sad how true it actually is.. Thanks for sharing! :teeth:

Hi all,

just a quickie, busy at work today. I'll add the personal touches later!

80's music....I guess I liked it all. Pink Floyd, Queen, Blondie, Air Supply, Styx.

Been busy with (all those in or with kids in college, raise your hands) FAFSA's - I had 4 to do. Took me about 2.5 hrs.

Won't you take me to, FunkyTown......

Maelstrom!

I did. Shhhhhh . . .

Bigger confession - I went to a Richard Marx concert - how sad is that? I can't stand his music now.

That was the first concert that I ever went to. My older sister took me and my best friend to see him and then later to see Rick Springfield.

Okay that story you told MEl, made me gag a bit....but it was funny!!! :) i don't know if i will be able to handle these vomit stories!!

Okay speaking of the 80s....did anyone follow the Madonna look??? i will remain silent on that, but i watched 13 Going on 30 and in the 80s scense in school, the 6Chicks have on these totally 80s outfits and i swaer i owned and loved all 6 of those outfits!!! Spandex pants under skirts, shoelace barrettes in NEON, sweaters with buttons all over them....on and on i could go.....

LOVED and still love BOn Jovi and Johns looks aren't bad either!

OK - So we're talkin' the 80's.........

I liked so many bands, but not the Neilson's........pretty boys!

Went kind of punky. Liked the Pretenders.
Not me baby, I'm so precious. Blankity-blank!
Also loved The Bronski Beat and The Smiths.

I just pulled out a few of my Time/Life Sounds of the 80's (I know - I'm a geek!) Here's a stroll down memory lane:

- Huey Lewis and the News - I want a new drug - still applied today!
- The Go-go's - remember them - they had the beat, we've got the beat....ya!
- Culture Club :rolleyes1
- Donna Summer - She works hard for the money - lingering disco
- I feel for you - Chaka Khan, Chaka Khan, Chaka, Chaka Khan!
- Daryl Hall and John Oates - into them big-time!
- George Michael - say no more!
- Walk Like an Egyptian - The Bangles - DD10 loves this song
- Beds are Burning - Midnight Oil - this is my Small World Song....it get's in my head and won't get out..
- Robert Palmer - Addicted to Love - remember the video - the girls in the band :rotfl:
- Luka - Suzanne Vega - what was that song about and why did we all like it??
- Thompson Twins - anything from them I liked
- I want to be a cowboy - Boy's Don't cry - and you can be my cowgirl!

Ahhhhh those carefree University years!

Thanks PasleaPooh! Yeah, I do the same thing writing it. Ignore the hubby, let the kids run around unsupervised....

Okay, maybe not the last part. I just leave that up to the neglected husband.

It's amazing how fast those hands on the clock move once I sit down at my computer. :confused3

Cutting it to the wire on those FAFSA's, but I am so glad you said that because I totally forgot to update Ryan's after I finished my taxes. At 10pm, on the 17th.

I am about to fly out the door. San Antonio here we come. Margeritaville for me, none for Steve though, poor guy. No alcohol mixing with icky Dilantin medicine.

I liked it all in the 80's too. For some reason I think of some bands as strictly 80's (Tears for Fears) and others as timeless (ZZ Top, Air Supply, Pink Floyd).

Welcome, welcome. This is funny - post away.

(on a side note - I post non-funny stories all the time - and no one ridicules me. . . .)

PasleaPooh - Hmmmm, I might have to make some of those caramels and bring 'em to the meet - and get an unbiased (non-relative) opinion. Plus - it'll pack the pounds on all you skinny girls. Just watch, I'll show up with all these cute little bags that say "Kitty Kat Karamels" and the copyright police will take them away from me at the front gate - see if it doesn't happen!

BTW - you have all inspired me to start eating better, and I might even throw in a little exercise. But I'm not calling it a diet, since that would be the kiss of death!
