Chapter 11 said:
Okay, serious question for all you experts out there. We're currently booked to go for our first Christmas trip to the House of Mouse for December 2 to 9. Today, the woman who looks after our kids after school (okay, I'll admit that I hate the word "nanny" -- sounds too Sound of Music or Mary Poppins for me (sorry Mommy Poppins)) said she needs to be off the following week. So we're considering switching our Disney trip to that week, to coincide with her now-announced vacation. Any reason why the week of December 9 through 16 would be better than the first week of December? I know about Pop Warner, but we're staying at BCV, so that shouldn't be too much of an issue for us. It's not too much of an issue to juggle the kids if we keep things as they are, so the only real question is, is the second week of December better or worse than the first week? Any advice would be appreciated.

(I added the dancing banana for Mel, in case she ever comes back).

We are going the 6th to the 18th. Planning on doing alot of the hotels and stuff the first few days. Touring plans look a little bit better that 2nd week. I think you will be fine either way. I can't wait. This is my 1st no kiddos trip ever.

What am I doing wrong? First everybody has a housekeeper & now a Nanny. :teeth:

Catching up before I go to court to defend helpless deprived children . . .

Sheridac - so sorry about your daughter, repeat all the sentiments of others and a BIG :grouphug:

HayleyB - YES, I decided to change my MNSSHP date to the 5th - even though it wreaks havoc with my Friday plans. I guess I'll pop for TGM since I have not yet spent my entire allowance this month and am not yet into negative figures - and it is almost the middle of the month, so I'm doing better than usual!

Wobin - Happy Belated Birthday in case you ever decide to visit us again!

LaLa - Destin, ahhhhh. I"ve been there once - it was dreamy for relaxation, I just missed waves . . . Beautiful pix!

Off to court - hellooooo to everyone and have a wonderful day!

Yep, that was us. Lou, since you are THE master, I wish I could pass it on to you!

Now I know you've seen, but aren't reading, my trip reports...
..but pasleapooh is so she is my new best friend.

Maelstrom!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a FASTPASS?!

BTW, I love your hair ... I might be getting it cut that way this summer... I imagine there will be loads of people at WDW with the Jamal Cut ;)

LaLa your pics are great and your children are so cute!

Ok I am going to try to keep up with this thead. I was up to date with mels trip report and lost her until I found this. So by the way what happened to Mel?

BTW, I love your hair ... I might be getting it cut that way this summer... I imagine there will be loads of people at WDW with the Jamal Cut

Hair again ;) . Do it Paslea! Three minute blow dry and no hair blowing in your mouth on Disney rides :thumbsup2 . The CookMaster saw Tommy (our HairMaster) yesterday. He can't wait for you all to move to Nashville so he can make you zesty too. The funniest part is, The CM and I talked at Disney about how bad our hair looked (!) since the water seemed so cruel to it! See, you never know...

Chapter 11 I'd go then! You should be fine as schools are still in. We went one year the 17th-24th and crowds didn't pick up at all until about the 22nd. It's still one of the slower times (Dec 1-16).

Grammy of 2
I am Cinderella here. I should be Mary Poppins, too, but I'm too mean. I'm it. Them. Lately, though, I'm just the time-waster(?)- at-the-computer.

Can't keep up with all of you!! Want to reply to all but DH says I should get on with the trip report so I'm off to work on that.

Jamal

Wow, we've got topics flyin all over the place!

1stTimer, Mel is very busy with visiting relatives and friends. She'll be back...

LaLa, Welcome back! What lovely pictures. The all-white was so smart of you. All the professional photogs on Cape Cod do that. Next time, do some black and white, too. They always come out nice.

Sheridac, so sorry about your baby's accident. But, as everyone else has said, better to wreck the car than the daughter! My poor mom got a call like that from my 16-yr-old self. I had my license about two weeks when I smashed her car! That's what we have insurance for, right?!

Polymelonmom, Congrats on your switch to the Poly! I'm an Epcot resort gal, myself, but some day I'll take a nice relaxing "psuedo Hawaiian" trip to the Poly.

Speaking of which, Horsegirl, you lucky horseypiegirly! We are DYING to do Hawaii, and two weeks is a must. I'm going to be on 4 planes in the next two weeks, and I'm hoping to get the opportunity to "earn" some money like you did!! Great way to use those free tix!!

And, lastly, a belated :bday: :cake: to our pal Wobin. Never knew any Aries people except my oldest son. Between Delswife and Melonmom, I'm feeling good vibes for his future self :goodvibes

Hey!!!

What's up?

Just wanted to let you all know that I have NOT jumped ship and am floundering around in the filthy waters of a bad ride. No offense, La La.

I have plenty 'o company and no time to Dis this week. They are all gone on Tuesday April 18. So hopefully I'll be back to play next Wednesday.

I will NOT be able to get caught up on this thread, however. You'll have to tell me briefly what I've missed.

Have a great Easter everyone! Eat WAY too many Cadbury Easter Cream Eggs at one time... and throw up a big thick slimy blob of brown soup gloop. Not that I'd know that from personal experience... or anything. Heh, heh.

Oh yeah... Javamom sent me the t-shirt designs so I'm making some this week if I get a chance hopefully. I'll let you know how they turn out.

Cheers, Mel.

Is a FASTPASS?????!!!

I guess it would depend on if I was traveling w/my kids. If I wasn't then I would go for the cheaper airfare..deal with driving further away and any inconveinances that brings.

If my kids were coming, then I would go w/ the closer airport. Are you looking at an overall savings of about $150 - $210? I'm not sure that would be enough for me to have to drive further away and don't forget about airport parking.. are both airports charging the same to park..remember about gas, it keeps going up... think about any tolls you have to pay...so REALLY calculate what your savings would be.

Good Luck Minnie :wave2:

Thank you! Right now it is more about whether to go ahead and purchase the Airtran tickets or to wait and hope for a Ding on SWA. Sometimes those are great but with only a month to do one might not appear :confused3

My mom and my DS (12) is going with me. The travel time to Airtran is 2 hrs and the travel time to SWA is 3 hrs.

What to do what to do...... :badpc:

Happy Easter to you! Thanks for checking in so we know you're still alive.

Cadbury cream eggs. Yuck. Don't feed 'em to the pets, either. (Or does the General still have your cat anyway?!)

Enjoy your company. See you on the flip side.

Hey thanks!!!

Apparently you shouldn't feed chocolate to dogs. But no worries with those eggs. I think. I don't think it's really chocolate anyway. I'm pretty sure the "white" part is Elmer's glue and I don't even want to say what the "yellowy-orange" stuff is. But they make me feel sick to my stomach and make my teeth hurt... just the mere thought of them. Plus... I think you can get Bird Flu from them and/or the bubonic plague.

The General STILL has the cat. Because 1/2 of our carpets are being put in tomorrow and the upstairs next Wednesday. The house is still torn apart. And we have company. They think I'm checking my email right now. Heh, heh.

Later. Mel.

Was that a special event or is it something anyone can go to?

Lou, Read the trip report already! It was a veryveryspecial treat.

Sheridac--How unnerving that must be to get that phone call. I'm very relieved to hear that she was not hurt physically, although mentally, I'm sure she's still a bit shaken. Plus, dealing with the insurance company and repairs can be such a hassle and frustrating. I'm just glad to hear that she is still around to be able to do it. And obviously you guys are pretty close and have a great relationship since she called her mom ASAP. I'm that way with my dad.

Loubon--You're so GREAT! (and I'm already in the year-book--just saying it because it's true). Also, Marky Mark (I have to call him that because I can't remember his screen name) went to the special Castle meet-and-greet and posted a picture somewhere on this thread. My understanding is that you have to have a friend on the inside (like a CM) and they arrange for your group to meet outside a tiny door behind the castle after Cinderellabration and let you in to get autographs. Jamal's pictures in her TR are amazing too!

Chapter11 --The SECOND week of December has always been my favorite time to go. We were there the first week in December 2005 and it was WAY more crowded than my previous two visits during the 2nd week of Dec. It could have been because of the way Thanksgiving fell last year, but I was very surprised by the crowds. Anyway, I think the change would work out well for you all. And I really liked the BCV when we stayed there. What a fun resort.

Lala--Glad to see you back. Thanks for sharing the pictures. It makes me want to visit there. Our neighbors go every year and we've considered it. It's about a 5 or 6 hour drive for us (we're in Texas) and we might just have to go. We're not really big on beaches (both of us grew up in a beach town--although it's a dirty beach--not pretty water like Destin). Anyway, thanks again for sharing those pictures.

Mel--Glad you stopped by. Have fun with the relatives and friends. I'm sure you'll be thrilled when the house is all finished.

Just had to stop in briefly. Just real busy this week. If it rains anymore, I am building an ark and loading in animals!

Mel - Hope your house gets put back together soon. That attack squirrel should help.

Maelstrom!

Ashclan--Thanks! and good luck on your flights! I hope you get the chance for some vouchers too! I have never been to Hawaii or any of the Pacific Isands and have been dying to go for a long time. Will talk about it more in the future.

Haleyb- somehow I missed your post about mr. silly. Gosh, how frightening. One of our close friends had this happen last spring. He had a series of 4 grand mals over the course of about 6 weeks. It was horrible, what he went through. He has now been on Dilantin as well, and no signs of a return. Lots of changes in diet. His body was like a train wreck from the muscles being so contracted. It took him about 6 months to return to normal. He was sooooooo tired. I do not think he lost any memory though. Hang tough......

Wait, I already lost it. I miss it some times.

The people who live behind me and one house over a putting in a pool. Great, good for them, maybe I need to introduce myself ;) .

I live in Austin. Austin is built ontop of solid rock. OK, it is limestone so it has holes in it now and again. Mostly solid rock. There is about 1 inch of soil between that rock and my lawn. Maybe 3 inches in some places because we added $800 worth of dirt to our back yard when we bought the house.

That means putting in a pool requires someone to chisel out a hole in the solid rock useing mostly a jack hammer. It takes about forever. Weeks. So my dog is barking like there is an invasion. There is a jack hammer running from morning till mid afternoon everyday, right outside my house. I can't even hear my phone ring. And the dust is already everywhere. Powder that gets in through every small opening in the house.

If it rains they will have to take a break. I pray for lots of rain. But that will only put things off...

AND

They cancelled Mr. Silly's EEG again today. This is the last test result we need and we have now had it cancelled at the last minute twice. Here is the thing. You need to be sleep deprived for the test. So twice Mr. Silly has stayed up all night for no reason. We have been together pretty much forever, so I can not sleep if he is not in bed. So I also am sleep deprived. For no good reason. And what makes it so much worse is they think sleep deprivation may trigger seizures... great, fantastic, wonderful. Happy happy joy joy.

SO I am going to book all my ADR's today. Right after the Jack Hammers quit for the day. Planning our meals will give me something to do that is a nice distraction. Because with no sleep I am about as useful as a rock around the house.

OK vent over. I feel better already. I think 1:30 is beer:thirty today. Only it is going to be a cosmo.

Sheridac, sorry to hear about your daughter's accident, but I'm glad she's okay. :grouphug:

Melonmom: Okay.....suggestions for your Ipod. You've got to download James Brown's Get Up Offa That Thang. It'll make ya wanna...well...get up offa that thang. And of course you'll have get Mississippi Girl. So you can sing it at the top of your lungs while you're cleaning your house. I bet your little girl will be so cute tonight. :goodvibes Yes, I saw your pics and I loved them. Talk about Heather Locklear.... :teeth: For a minute there you threw me with that picture of you and your brother though. I was thinking 'Now that doesn't look like her DH....' I thought you had kicked DH to the curb for oh, I don't know, maybe Buzzton. But I know you'd never do that cause your DH is just too darn cute. :teeth: Yall are really cute together.

Grammy- I love the sandbox thing! And yes, we are all tanned. Well, sunburned anyway. I think all the skin on my lips got burned off, as a matter of fact. I always forget to put sunscreen on my lips and they always get the worst of it.

Here are a few pictures from the trip as promised.....

Okay, this one is a view of Crab Island as you come over the bridge into Destin. The picture doesn't do it justice. What you can't see is how the water is light green in the shallows and azure blue in the deep. Very, very pretty.

CIMG3062.jpg

The next one is just the kids playing on the shore. I just think this one is pretty...the sand, the blue sky, pretty, pretty, pretty...

CIMG3088.jpg

Okay, remember I told you about the school of dolphins (or maybe they were porpoises? ) swimming close to the shore? This is them. At first we thought they were sharks. Everybody on the beach was pointing and talking and taking pictures. Then we heard someone say "Dolphins are the natural enemy of sharks. So everybody in the water!" We then saw them breaking the surface and doing little flips and tail flaps. It was really cool. They were corraling a school of fish. It was really neat to watch. They were about maybe 30 feet out from the shore. They treated us to a show that day. This is the school. You can see them right under the surface of the water.

CIMG3135.jpg

And this is a pretty big one breaking the surface... DS is convinced it's a killer whale. Come to think of it, it does look a little like Shamu, doesn't it?

CIMG3132.jpg

I just think this one is pretty. It was taken just offshore too.

CIMG3144.jpg

We came upon the weirdest thing in the sand. We stumbled upon some sort of sand person. He looked strangely familiar....

CIMG3236.jpg

Then we saw another one. They must be native to the area.

CIMG3241.jpg

For some reason, I just really love this one...

CIMG3275.jpg

Okay, that's it. Those were the highlights. It was a bummer coming back. But at least I have Disney to look forward to.

OK THOSE PICS!!!!

I have to move from here NOW...OR at least in 8 years but my kids have to go with me so I can be a grandma (in like 20 years) I'll be one of those grannys on the beach with the pina colada in a suit I THINK looks good on me!! :lmao:

your pics are incredible!!!!!!!!!!! LOVE THEM!!!

AMAZING...

HayleyB - It is beer o'clock. Have a cosmo or 2, but with no sleep you might be out like a log.

Is Mr Silly still taking the Dilantin? He should be OK with that in his system. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed. That stinks they cancelled the test. Staying up all night is hard enough and then they cancel. :sad2:

Hopefully a nice rain storm will calm your nerves. If not just scream at the top of your lungs. :furious: No one will hear you anyway.

I am hoping and praying for you both. When they reschedule be firm that the test must take place. Call your Dr and tell him the stress is unbearable. Maybe he can help with the process. :grouphug: :grouphug:

Hey J&R's mom,

We were there 11/27-12/3 of 2005.. For us it was alot less crowded than when we went in March 2005, but then again it was the week before Easter too. It was a mad house in March. So for us, early Dec. seemed really mild. Although , there was one day at MGM where it was really busy... I remember thinking it seemed really busy for Dec. All in all, I guess it depends are what you are used to. If you generally go during Peak times than 1st week of Dec. is cake, but if you go during slooooow times than it may seem busy to you. It's all relative.. OK, I've rambled enough and I've made no sense.

LaLa,
Your kids are beautiful. Those pictures are gorgeous! I really love the one where they are standing in the sand looking out at the ocean. That looks like a Hallmark card.... Hey, you could probably make a card with that pic. Not to be completely ignorant but where is Destin? It looks like a very nice place to vacation.

Mel, Melly, Melly, Mel, Mel
Good to see ya Mel, good , good, good. (Stole that from Matilda- remember Ms. Trunchbull). Hope you are having a good time with your company. Don't worry about us, we'll just talk amongst ourselves till you get back and turn this thread upside down with your silliness :jumping1: Have a Happy Easter! And I hate those Cadbury Eggs..it's like HOT SNOT and chocolate all in one.

Polymelonmomma ! You nursed your kids for a year and your BO :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc OBS still look like that. There is just NO justice in this world, is there?
Saw your WW pics. Wow, you've lost alot of weight. You look great! Did you do that all with WW? How do you like running on the treadmill? My husband does the elliptical machine almost everyday. I hate, hate , hate exercise. He's got some good workout music on his Ipod.. I"ll let you know what songs he's got on there to make you shake your booty.. you need something really upbeat and fast to motivate you. This is my idea of exercise.. :surfweb: ..my fingers are in the best shape of their lives thanks to Dis'ing.

Grammy
Where you been today? I haven't seen much of you :sail: I hope all is well. I used to like when you told us what you were drinking in the morning and what cup you were using. I always found it amusing.. That was you that used to do that, right? And Grammy, I have no housekeeper and no nanny. Although I could use them desperately.

HaleyB I was thinking of you and Mr. Silly today, too bad about the test. So you have to be sleep deprived to HAVE the test to find out about the seizures, BUT the seizures might be caused b/c of sleep deprivation, right? Ahhh, Medical science..you gotta love it :sad2: Enjoy your cosmo, you've earned it. Planning ADR's is always a fun thing.

GA You're leaving us to go and help defend deprived children? You're a good soul. I'll make us some Cheese Soup :stir: while your gone.
