The Maelstromers... a FASTPASS! Part 2

I'm outta here. Just wanted to let everyone know that I have finished the list of Maelstrom classics and it is ready for publication (it has links to everything, I didn't actually paste the stories), so anyone who wants a copy needs to send me a PM. I expect to be flooded people, but will only be able to send this out from work, so don't expect to get it tonight.

Tink - I hope that whatever happened isn't TOOO distressing!

For those renting DVC points two tips. 1.) make sure if at all possible you know who (or know someone who) knows the person renting just to insure a smooth transaction. 2.) if you are personally considering DVC and want to use this to brainwash your DH er I mean impress him with the virtues of DVC, try if you can afford it to go for a 1BR or 2BR. A studio for the most part is just the equivalent to a deluxe hotel room.

MUSH!! What game show were you on? I'm curious!

Back in '01, I made it on Millionaire. I was on the same show that Kevin Olmstead was on...he went on to win $2.18 million. Game Show Network likes those episodes, so they air it every few months. My students love teasing me about it every time it's on.

www.ilstu.edu/~cemushr/personal for an unfinished recap of it (one of these days I'll complete that story).

OH MY - WE WERE ON PAGE 2!!!!

must be all those splash and immigration threads that are pushing us out :rotfl2:

Thanks GA! Looking forward to remembering the stories and catching the ones I missed.

Lou - I've got a great guy I rent from, but very good advise. Unfortunately, we've rented three times and DH isn't ready to bite yet! Maybe some day

MUSH - I'll have to check out GSN for you! Then I can say I sorta, kinda know someone on the TV!

Figure Skating again tonight so I'm headed to the rink.

Skaters change directions

Hey Mel and MOMO where have you been today??

YAK - Yakity Yaking out.

MUSH WOW!!! I checked it out and your story is awesome!!! If you ever finish the report, let us know!

I won a trip to NY through "The Early Show" on CBS back when survivor was first on. We had to 'survive' the city of Manhattan with only a subway/bus pass and $15 a day and we had to go on a huge scavenger hunt for 3 days...while camera crews followed us! It was crazy fun and I was interviewed live twice by Bryant Gumble. Weird huh? Little ole me got on t.v. ---so I've had my 15 minutes of fame!

So I ran the numbers, and, you're right, it still looks cheaper for me to rent DVC, pay for the dining plan, and buy only the tix I need. It works out to about $1400 or so vs. the $1900 or so via Disney. So what do all you DDPers think? Is it worth it for me to pay for it? This IS an adults only trip, so I think if I ever do it, this would be the time. Opinions??
I'd say get the DDP.

I just called and added the dining plan to our DVC reservation today.

We found out this past weekend that we'll be able to arrive at WDW in the morning instead of 11:30pm at night so we'll be able to take advantage of it all the days we're there.

And after looking over the menus, I realized that spending MORE than $80 on ONE table service meal was probable (especially if we added appetizers, entrees and desserts to it). So I figured it was worth the money. We'll see.

Now if only I could figure out what a Dole Whip is and why everyone is SO excited about them.

A joke that is a little too perfect for my maelstrom friends on this thread...

Two tall trees, a birch and a beech, are growing in the woods. A small tree begins to grow between them, and the beech says to the birch, "Is that a son of a beech or a son of a birch?"
The birch says he cannot tell.
Just then a woodpecker lands on the sapling. The birch says, "Woodpecker, you are a tree expert. Can you tell if that is a son
of a beech or a son of a birch?"
The woodpecker takes a taste of the small tree. He replies, "It is neither a son of a beech nor a son of a birch.
It is, however, the best piece of ash I have ever put my pecker in."

This is the cleanest dirtiest funiest joke I have ever heard. Thanks :yay: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :yay:

Haley, sweetheart, stop trolling on the immigration threads -- you're going to hurt yourself banging your head on your computer screen. Stay here where it's nice and safe, or, if you prefer, there's a nice cross stitching thread on the crafts board. BTW, did you know the answer to the Mexican Navy joke? It's an oldie. I PMed the german guy the punch line -- having grown up in the Southwest, I know them all ...

Thanks Chappie, I think you are right. I thought all the conservatives were supposed to be boycotting Disney over some movie...

PM me the punch line, please, I am sure I have heard it but I can't remember it right now.

be back later-- I am about 6 pages back still

Boy this thread came to a crashing halt! What's up with that? I was on a roll!

Blessings!

I could so say something, but I am not going to.

Last edited by FSUMARCHIEF : Today at 02:28 PM. Reason: Work. Gotta focus on work. (But how can I? This is hilarious!) BY the way I have a poop story that I've been meaning to share that Hoop reminded me of...

Awesome story!

That reminds me of what my cousin used to do when we would go shopping together. He would be on the other side of the store and would run to where I was standing to let a SBD go. Then he would sneak away to leave me in the stench! The next person to pass by would give me a "How could you" look.

Please bring on the poop story!

Thanks for the blessings. Keep me in your prayers.

Okay, I have no idea what ya'll are talking about, and I thought I was proficient in the dining plan lingo, but that was before Maelstrom.

WHAT purple dots?????

I know you all figured it out without me. Sorry, sometimes I forget how much of a Disney dork I am. There are photos of the 'purple dots' on the F&WF post from last year, if you can find it.

Thanks for the advice Lou. Good thing Mr. Silly sticks to reading reddit for the most part. He thrives on the political debates over there.

LOL, hooP! DH and now DS (yes, DH taught him) do that to me all the time!

Good afternoon/evening all Maelstromrers! (Notice that I said ALL. That means you are all included. I'm still suffering from a bit of overheating at the office today.)

Dick emailed me earlier today with this little gem. The phone and the internet will be hooked up on MAY 15th.

:scared1:

AAACK!!! That means no chatting for ten whole days. What the bejesus am I supposed to do for ten whole days without chatting? Huh? Oh, yeah. I guess I could unpack my house, huh. Killjoys.

I'll still have the work computer, so I'll be able to catch up and post on the thread, but, boy am I bummed about the chat.

That was my distressing news. Told you it wasn't that bad. Even if it is for me. But the good news is that I should have my house in order (yeah, right) by then.

:offtopic: Did y'all catch Lil Grumpy today on that "other" thread on the CB? He was on a roll. I was :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I have to go throw all of my clothes in garbage bags to be transported to the new house. We are under a severe thunderstorm watch until 9pm tonight, so this girl ain't goin' NO where.

Be back in a little bit.

Tink out. Again.

Hiya! I am soooo tired of allergy season. I'm wiped out. Anybody have some good spices for me?

Mush, that's so cool you got on Millionaire! And Frickles! I vaguely remember seeing that, way back when. Or something like it. I can't believe that was you!

JW thanks for the gentle reminder. You are so right.

Re: the DDP for DVC. I'm still trying to decide for the meet trip. (it used to be known as the "me and dh kidless romantic getaway trip." Now it's all about the meet. :rotfl: We could buy the dining plan, and I'm certain we could get our money's worth. But because it's F&W, I can envision us just snacksnacksnacking around and not really feeling like a sit down meal each day. Are the F&W booths really good? I'd hate to NOT buy the plan and then wish that I had because the Food and Wine kiosks don't have anything appealing. Help!! Somebody!!

More later ... tubby time for some little cuties.

TINK!!! Hey you cutie! You know you'll be missed at the chats....good luck with the rest of the move!!!!

Serious posts are out of character for me but my SIL (DW's sister) had an aneurism removed from behind her eye today. Fortunately everything went well but it has been quite a day here today. This came totally out of nowhere. Do me a favor.....hug your kids and loved ones tonight. You never know what the next five minutes is going to bring.

Lou

I'm so happy things are good for your family. So often we take our loved ones for granted and assume they'll always be around. Unfortunately, this is not always true.

Here's a :grouphug: to your family from me.

LYMI

Lou...that is so so true. I know exactly how life can change in the course of five minutes from previous experiences in life. Today wasn't fun filled for me either. I just got an email from my best friend and matron of honor...she totaled her car Monday night. All you Atlanta/GA people may have heard about a multiple car crash on I-85 near the I-75 interchange...(maybe not, cause something is always going on there) but she was involved with that. Luckily she is ok, but it was a serious crash and she was very lucky to have walked away.
