Yeah, my DH just joined. His name is The Horned King. He posted late last night that I won't join him in bed (or something like that), which sounds much worse than it is!! :)

Hey Bob, I've got a question! :wave2:

I had my air ducts cleaned cuz I thought they were causing some of my dust and hair problems. It didn't do anything to help. I found out afterword that the EPA doesn't reccomend air duct cleanings, cuz they haven't be proven to do anything to help anything. What do you think about air duct cleaning?

Everything I've read says it's bunk.

The best things you can do to improve indoor air quality, according to what I've read, is to install a Progressive Media Whole House air cleaning filter. You change the filter about 1x a year, it costs about 500 (about the same as 1 duct cleaning session), and it seems to really work, from what I've read on the hvac boards.

The website for it is www.ultravation.com I'm getting one put in when they swap out the a/c. The filters are about 45 bucks.

The other best thing you can do is get rid of all your carpets. THink of them as sweaters you walk on that you can never really clean. THey harbor literally millions of dust mites that feed on shed skin cells, dirt, and food. THeir feces can cause asthma and breathing problems. The chemicals used to clean the carpets can cause autoimmune issues in people who are prone to it.

Just my gross-out 2c for the day :teeth: .

He lives and loves :) to debate things...
He didn't join until I starting talking about the community board. When he realized he could debate things and make fun of me to thousands of strangers, he couldn't get a screen name fast enough!

Ah-ha! I'll use that when dh complains about the carpets! Did I tell you all he has autoimmune liver disease? It's in remission! Whooo.........finally. He got very sick right after DS2 was born, and wasn't diagnosed until DS was 5 months old. Basically, it took me taking him to the emergency room and telling them we weren't leaving until they figured out what was wrong with him for real. They sent us to a liver specialist, and said dh would've been dead in a week. And you think modern docs know what they're doing! Figured right then and there I will trust my own instincts from now on. Anyway, as it was they gave him 5-10 years to live unless he went into remission, which can stave off the damage indefinitely. Needless to say, I was a basket case this time last year.............our son had just turned 3 and we were running out of time and the chances of remission decrease as time goes on. But he finally did it, we just found out a couple months ago, but the doc kept him on the bare minimum dose of his meds just not to risk a flare-up.

Okay, back to the fun! How do you guys do so many pages in so little time? Sorry for running out so fast last night, little one had a meltdown and I realized it was past bedtime.

I am definitely in for quiche for dinner. I have PLENTY of eggs!

Paige... bless your (and DH's) heart! Glad to hear everything's better and that they caught it in time!! :cheer2:

I"m going to sign off for a while. I'll catch you girls later.

When I was pulling the carpet up on the stairs (the carpeting was about a year old, installed in June 2005 by the previous owners) even with eye and respiratory protection I was acking and wheezing and my eyes were watering like crazy.

And I have NO ALLERGIES, no sensitivities, no immune issues. I had to mask the whole stairs from the rest of the house, drag the big shop vac from the garage and run it constantly with the front door open and the vac exhausting to the outside to keep the grossness in the carpets down to a minimum.

And the carpeting *looked* perfectly clean. The padding underneath was even worse-it had what looked like 100 years of dandruff embedded in it.

It was beyond gross.
