Hi, Mary, Cy, and Paige!

I know I'm sure glad it's Friday. I couldn't have taken another work day. :sad2:

Tomorrow morning we're going to yard sales! Hope to find some good bargains.
Me too, me too, ME TOO, and me too..............

Paige, I have only a few thoughts, but they all center around this: DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE, SIGN ANYTHING!!!!!! Your mom's car insurance company should be representing you all. But I would also try to contact an attorney who specializes in vehicle accidents. My DH says that your mom's insurance company should be able to tell you how much money that the other lady's policy pays. I think $25K per person is low. I have seen policies pay much much more, based on the extent of injuries. Your mom has had extensive injuries, far worse than what $25K will cover. I think that that amount is an insult and him looking for an easy way out and then they will have you sign an indemnity clause, therefore keeping you from receiving any more money. Your mom may need more as PT continues, I definitely think you should seek counsel for your mom, now what you do about your DS, that depends on how much injury he suffered and how much anguish you think he suffered. But I think $25K is too little.

Thanks.

I will take a look at it :)
Paige, I looked at you thread and 1st of all I want to tell you that I am so so sorry that this has happened to your family.

If I was you I would not sign anything or accept any payment at this time (same for your mother & father). I would call a lawyer ASAP and explain the situation. It may cost a little money to see the lawyer but maybe money well invested.

See a lawyer ASAP!

Thank you. I haven't signed anything, in fact, I haven't even talked to this insurance guy my parents have been talking with.............my mother, however, allowed them to record her statement..............

Paige, your welcome. I just hate to see someone who is innocently hurt get taken advantage of.

We believe quite strongly in not taking more than is needed in any situation. However, it seems to me they are offering FAR less than is needed, and I do not want to close the door on any future needs my son may have.............

Paige- I agree with what Mary said about this situation. Don't sign anything without knowing all of the factors. Good luck! :guilty:

She shouldn't talk to them anymore - have them get an attorney before they talk to the insurance company again. they (insurance company) have attoneys working for them and you/your family need one too.

I agree, you have no idea what may creep up in the next year or so for him. Or even further down the road.

good thinking.

even if the lady at fault only has the state minimum she may have other assets that could/would come into play. If she crossed the center line like you said she is at fault (and I know what I am talking about) and she needs to make everything right. Only an attorney (not an insurance company - hers or your mom's) can find this out for you (via the cival justice system).

I hope this helps and I pray for a speedy recovery for your son and mom.

What's everyone doing tomorrow? :sunny:
DH is having tires put on his explorer and I'm going to Sam's Club with the girls. Then DH and I have a wedding to go to at 4:00 then a dinner reception, but the kids aren't invited, so I had to find a babysitter for a while.
