4. Some start at 4am AND, for the first time here in KC, TWO shopping areas are opening at Midnight tonight.


Hey y'all. I am sick, sick, sick. No, not in THAT way! Dorks. For real. Healthwise. All of the RobInBigKC family is gone to my inlaws for Thanksgiving dinner and I'm laying here in bed feeling miserable and trying NOT to feel too sorry for myself.

It's just a bummer that I'm sick in bed, and home all by myself, on a day when everyone is unable to play. Maybe my Canadian friend will make another appearance since they're not holidaying.

Hmmm, though I might be willing to go with YOU , I do NOT hit those Friday-after-Thanksgiving sales. Those people, mostly women, are crazy! And that includes my Mom and my DW who normally depart, together, at 3 am and are gone for about six or seven hours.

Especially shoe shopping!!! Most woman find that just outrageous that I hate shopping for shoes more than anything else!!!! Kill me, please!

Did you go watch the Plaza Lights?
I watched on TV this year... to wiped out after cooking all day.
But most of my dinner guests went and then came back afterward with twice as many people! Good day...

Did you get enough turkey? And pie?

I just saw that Frank Capra's You Can't Take It With You is on Turner Classic Movies at 2:15 a.m. (3:15 eastern) tonight. If any of the Chatters have TCM, I highly recommend that movie.

I've only ever gone shopping on Black Friday twice in my life. Once I was young and dumb....it was an adventure. The second time I took DS#3 and made him run to one part of the store while I ran to another. We only went to 2 stores and were home before 9AM.

IMHO, there is no bargain is worth that craziness!!

I keep thinking the plus side is that I'm not having to take any sick/vacation days at work (they're one and the same for me) BUT I know for sure I would have had more company here on the internet if I had been bedbound for a whole day during a normal working Thursday. At least my kids were out of the house for most of the day so it was quiet (almost too quiet though).

Rob- sorry you are feeling poorly, and all alone too. Poor Rob!

And yes, I did the shopping thing this morning, I had never gone before, and actually thought it sounded miserable, but it was fun! Went with my sister and we had a pretty good time. Everyone was happy and friendly where we went, which helps! We left my house @ 3:45am to get to Kohls for the 4am opening. I am FULL of energy today, though!

2. I didn't realize it until they got home a little after 10 this morning but my two oldest sons went shopping with DW and my mom. I've heard that DS13 and my mom had to "fight" for one of the ultra-cheap LCD TVs they purchased.
