I know...but there is Christmas to look forward to!

I told DH that I didn't care that we were trying to save for DVC...we ARE going to WDW in 2007!!!

What was the best thing that happened this trip?
My DD 12 and 15 voluntarily holding my hand as we walked out of Epcot. My favorite memory hands down. If you have/had kiddos that age, you know what a feat that is...... :rotfl:

Awww!!!! That's sweet!!!

I don't have kids, but I can appreciate the gesture!!! I know how it feels when DH just grabs my hand out of the blue... :cloud9: I'm guessing with kids that feeling is at least doubled!

Was this the first time you visited at the holidays?

Steph....welcome back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

If I leave out of the blue, it's because I am waiting for DVC to call to try to book the 2007 DVC cruise.

Hey Pip!

Yep, first holiday trip.......it was great.......I tell ya, I am SICK of Christmas music though.....the same 5 songs over and over for 8 days.......everywhere we went..... :sad2:

I'm just teasin' you!!! :grouphug:

We want to buy DVC very badly and have about half saved up...we want to pay pretty much 100% with cash and finance very little (if any).

So I'm maybe just a little green with envy! :)

I can understand that!

But the decorations are unbelievable!!

My first memories of a Disney park was DL...the day after Thanksgiving 2001...we saw the Holiday parade and I was awestruck!!!

And IASW in DL was decorated SOOOOOO beautifully!!!

At least you have a plan. DH says no DVC ever for me.

We can't justify the cost when we don't go every year and stay Mods not Delexes. The cost just is crazy high, when you look at the maintenance fees every year.

I tell him i want an excuse to go to WDW every year and to be able to take family, but it's just too much. :sad2:

Hello! BTW! :wave2:

Hi Sarah!!

We thought the costs were pretty reasonable...but then we really love the Boardwalk (which is WAY out of our normal price range). I think the costs for maintenance are like $4 or $5 a point. We're only looking at 150 points (at most) and that only ends up being $600/$750 a year. The key for us is to be able to NOT finance any of the original cost. Then the maintenance fee is all you pay for accommodations. We figure we can go at least twice (and maybe three times) a year during value seasons for that cost.

When we pay about what the maintence fees cost to stay at POR every two years or so, it doesn't work out.

The big issue for us is that DH is a teacher, so we're forced to go at the absolute worst times of the year. Tho I could see me arguing once we have kids that I can take them and grandma while daddy is teaching. And DVC would be much nicer for that.

If we ever bought it would be the way you're doing it. Save up to pay for it outright.

But just know that at least someday soon you WILL own DVC!

Ahhh...I see...especially with the schedules! We're so lucky that we would be able to go pretty much whenever we wanted.

We even figured that if we bought annual passes, our only costs at least for two trips a year would be the airfare and food/souvies. Oh...and kennel costs

A friend of mine has a timeshare in Orlando about 10 minutes from WDW, she uses it frequently and that might be a more reasonable option for you.

I sound like a salesperson, don't I? I just know how it feels to want to go as often as you can!! :teeth:

My biggest problem is I really don't like going when we can. I'm at the point where if I have to go in August again, I'd rather not go. (Tho I am going to go one more time next year!) So it's really not worth buying anything at this point.

I REALLY want to go for Halloween and Christmas and in the spring for the garden festival.

When we went for our wedding last year, they were just getting stuff ready for MNSSHP and the Food and Wine festival...but we missed both by a day or two. No biggie 'cause we were a bit overwhelmed anyway ;)

I can wait a while longer for Christmas (since I've seen DL's version)...but I'm dying to see ALL of MK at either park in "one day"! :rotfl:

This year is DH's first teaching. His school's break for Christmas starts on Dec 15th so we could've gone and been back for christmas, but he didn't want to go twice in one year. Plus he didn't want to risk not being back for christmas since this is the first one without his mom (she passed back home while we were in WDW in January).

So the next time he gets out the week before christmas, we'll probably go to WDW. I just can't imagine going when you can barely walk in the park (the week after christmas).

OMG! I'm so sorry about your MIL...and while you were at WDW? That's somehow even more sad! :grouphug: to you and your DH

Do you think the high crowd times at WDW and DL are the same? I've never thought about that...but I know the day after Thanksgiving at DL was UNBELIEVABLE!!! It took us several hours to get from Main Street to Tommorrowland. By the time we got to Toon Town, it was closing to get ready for fireworks, and we circled back around and went (very quickly) through Adventureland and New Orleans Square (in the dark).

Thank You. It was/is really rough. She's the first person I've ever really lost and she was only 51. She was the most amazing person.

It was sorta good that it happened at WDW. DH is a big people person and just losing himself in being at WDW really helped him a lot. But it was REALLY hard on me. i had a horrible time and I really need to go back and rekindle my WDW love.

Yeah. i was reading a few threads about Thanksgiving at WDW and I guess the crowds have gotten out of control. I have issues with crowded places and I know I would lose it if I couldn't get away from them.

When we went in June for our honeymoon it was much busier than it had been in August, plus August is cheaper, so that's when we go.

I never got to meet my DH's mom :guilty: She passed in 1996. But I hope that she would have "approved" of me, and I think we would have gotten along well! DH's father passed before his mom and so I don't have any in-laws (I think some folks would be jealous! ;) :teeth: )

Yeah, I see those MIL threads and I know how lucky I was to have someone who truly loved me like I was her own daughter. I just wish she had made it long enough for grandkids, cuz I know she would've been awesome at helping me be a great mom.

Anyway, new topic! :teeth: I got my disney crocs on! they are so cool!
