I know the price seems so terriffic, but really am I the only one that does not feed this crap to my kids? It is nothing but sodium filled preserative garbage. Surely your children deserve better.

I am ready to be flamed, but I do not care. Just beacuse something is cheap does not make it a bargain. KWIM?

I agree with you to an extent. However, a little crap now and then never hurt anyone. ;) I'm sure those of us that got in on the Lunchables deal don't feed our children Lunchables 3 times a day, every day.

If I feed it to my husband, does that make things better? :rotfl:

Do my kids fill up on these no, do they snack on them between meals sometimes. Just because someone purchases some junk food does not mean that it is all they feed their children. While I did purchase 10 of them, my kids also have meals that include fresh vegetables, eat tons of fruit, drink milk/water 90% of the time and rarely do they want me to purchase sweets such as cookies, cakes, etc. So I have no problem with them snacking once in a while on these meals.

Well, since we so rarely get it, my kids thought it was a special treat.

Do you never eat out either? Even good restarants are filled with preservatives.

We are not eating out nearly as much as we used to, but we don't always plan that our Saturday errands will last as long as they do.

Over time, I've come to see preservatives, nitrites, MSG, and the like as poison because of what they could do to my body. I have to ask myself if I'd eat a little poison every now and then and the answer is no, I wouldn't.
Certainly not a flame from me, just another point of view. :)

My point was that people are stacking up on them, I mean like buying 20-30:confused3 Do they not have an expiration date? I noticed too that on the 10.00 a day thread lots of lunchables as meals. Not something I am comfortable with.

Even my nutritutionist says that your true diet is 80% of what you eat. If I had the money, the gall or the ability to give my 14yo son 80% of his diet in Lunchables.... I need to give up my parent card.

My son eats no sugar, no caffeine and only drinks green tea and water due to problems in his diet. A lunchable or two will not kill him.

They are a treat for my kids but I didn't go to the sale and I only buy 1 every few months.

I find it quite amusing that the OP describes lunchables as crap:lmao:

Bottom line, different people parent differently. I bought over 20 of these, which, by the OP's description, would indicate me feeding my children nothing but crap.

However, just as an indicator, and not because I feel I have to justify my choices in any way, here is my situation. My husband does remodeling and works 12-16 hour from Spring-Fall. My 2 boys are on summer break, and, living in a cul-de-sac, I have kids in my house all day every day.

My husband takes 2 every day and my kids eat one every day. They also do NOTHING but RUN, PLAY, SWIM, do SPORTS and are CONSTANTLY moving. They still eat plenty of fruits, veggies and home cooked meals every day.

This is just my situation and my decision, every family needs to make the decisions (both financial and nutritional) based on their own family and their needs. I think to use such a blatent term as crap is pretty hilarious and narrow minded....just my .02:)

Count me in as a parent that feeds their kids crap then. I didn't get in on the deal, but only because my printer messed up. I buy my kids one lunchable apiece every two weeks. I usually pack the lunchables, a bag of grapes and some baby carrots for a picnic lunch or have it ready at home for a quick lunch when we're out running around. It doesn't seem to me to be any more unhealthy than grabbing McDonald's and it sure is cheaper.

Not to get OT, but has anyone seen the new ones for toddlers? Some of them have Teddy Grahams or graham cracker sticks and yogurt to dip them into and string cheese. My 3yo loved his for a snack.

One of my students brought one for lunch the other day. The yogurt & teddy grahams one gave me a good idea for my kids lunches. Since we pack every day I'm always looking for ways to keep it interesting & fun.

AFA lunchables, I don't like seeing my students have them every single day for lunch as I find they get bored with them & stare longingly at their friends' PB&J. However, about them in general, I'll say what I tell my DD: They are a once-in-awhile thing, not an every day thing because they have a lot of salt. When I do pack them, I usually throw in some fruit or veggies as well.

Being a teacher I can tell you that totally denying a child just about any food (except for health a/o religious reasons) can backfire. The kids in my class whose "can't" list is very long are the first ones to 'attack' other kids lunches when we're unpacking. The best eaters in my class seem to be the ones whose parents walk that line very well between serving healthy food for those little growing bodies & knowing that occasionally, you've just got to give them some Hershey's Kisses.

No offense, but I think that the OP is being a bit dramatic about the whole situation. Yeah, I bought the Lunchables, but only because they are on sale. I think that I have bought them one other time. I do not buy them because they are expensive. But, the Lunchables were a treat for my kids. I think a treat every now and then will not kill them. All of my kids are healthy and thin, so I don't feel guilty about my decision.

I don't give them to my kids either. I tried once really I did, but they all rejected them:lmao: I wouldn't make a habit out of it but I guess once in a while is ok.

I did notice though that people were posting buying in bulk;) Whatever floats your boat.

Luckily my DD doesn't like these so I don't get any arguments from about buying them. She's tried them at other people's houses. I guess as long as a child is getting a well rounded diet it's not a problem. Just because my DD doesn't eat lunchables doesn't mean she won't down a hot dog now and then - it's the same thing.
