The lunchable deal

I really appreciate the budget board for posts just like the original lunchables thread--a great deal:)
One that we passed on in this instance, as I think these are yucky (I bought 2 at a great price about two years ago, and just didn't like the quality of the product (I am an adult btw, I could see why it has its appeals to kids:)

So I saw the thread, was glad to see great deals are being posted here, and went about my business...I don't think evey item is going to be for everybody, and we all have our hot spots when it comes to food (fye, our house passes on high fructose corn syrup and artficial sweeteners, but will high sodium counts, or plain old sugar get a pass, as long as the item in question has other redeeming values (as in, tastes as good or better than other options)

Anyway, Id hate to see folks limiting great deals they post for fear of being called out or accused of pushing junk food...don't like the product, dont buy the product, its pretty easy NOT to buy something:)

Ok here goes......

DH works for Kraft....

Kraft makes lunchables....

Target runs Lunchable sales w/coupons....

Lunchables rolling off shelves....

Kraft raking in the $$....

DH gets raise.....

Another WDW trip booked!!!!!

hooray for me!!!!!

Please everyone... think about it, the more you buy the better off I am! Please clip those coupons... make numerous trips to Target and send me to the most magical place on earth.

Whether it is this or something else, everyone has vices.... my kids eat lunchables, my kids are very healthy and are involved in numerous sports and activities. My Ped said everything in moderation. My ds -2 LOVES apples, but he eats other things too. He was premature and is still underweight, if he only ate apples all day long (which by his choice he would) we would never gain a pound. Ped TELLS me to give him higher caloric foods.

I grew up eating Ding Dongs.... everyday! Loved them... they are horrible for you. But I'm fine... no diseases, not overweight, etc.

We are a very well rounded family! Proud to be a mom that doesn't always say NO to foods. I do read labels and I make choices based on fat/calories/sodium etc, but come on we only live once and my kids ARE kids... they are going to eat junk food occasionally!

So get out there and clear those lunchables shelves... I leave in 14 days for WDW and I am so craving some deep-fried, ice cream covered, fat laden, high caloric foods!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :rotfl2:

for those of you who would rather not purchase the lunchables, send me a pm I'll give you my address and you can send your check directly to me... then Kraft won't get any of the profits!!!!!! :woohoo:

:thumbsup2 Alisa

This is officially my favorite post of all time! Especially the last paragraph!

I have been checking in on this thread from time to time for the chuckles.
I admit I bought some lunchables also. They are a big treat for my kids because I am far too cheap to pay full price or even regular sale price for them.

I am surprised that no one has posted about how unfriendly lunchables are to the environment with the wasteful packaging. ;) That's another big argument I've heard.

I figured out a long time ago that I am not a perfect parent and most that think they are will soon figure out that they aren't. It just amuses me now. I've had experiences with a few and could tell some good stories.

Bottom line, IMO, teaching moderation is important.

A great book Momfidence!: An Oreo Never Killed Anybody and Other Secrets of Happier Parenting .

Moderation in all things. Anything or anyone that's all one way or the next just gives me the heebie jeebies. :confused3

Just as it's terribly irresponsible to give kids free reign..everyone needs structure and guidance, I also I think it's fairly naive to assume that over restricting kids one way or the other is going to lead them down the straight and narrow when they start making their own choices. Haven't you people ever watched Footloose? :rotfl: All I know is that one friend whose parents had tons of snacks of all varieties in the house (they entertained alot, so you could find bags and bags of chips in the pantry) grew up to be completely uninterested in food...when she snacks it's on nuts and grapes. My friend who's dad was Hippy Mr. Health Food now belongs to overeaters anonymous. :confused3 She over rebelled against the carob-covered raisins. I guess the real point is to just not make food a big deal.

Although we tend to allow many "off topic" discussions on the Budget Board, we really stay away from topics that are started purposely to debate.

So because of that, this thread will be closed. If anyone would like to continue this discussion, please do so on the Community Board where topics of this sort are enjoyed.

Thanks!
