The LUCKY Muffin Spoke to Me - Halloween at WDW & Summer 2011 at DLR - 01/09/11

Yay for spunky old ladies! That sounds like how some of my residents would act :lmao: That usher was insanely rude :( I can understand the copyright issues, but that was just rude of him. I'm so glad you guys had a good night, though :grouphug: I might be able to go see The Lion King here, but probably in November after my trip :lmao: Unless I can get tickets for right before I leave... That'd be fun :teeth:

hey just joining in! You and DH sound a lot like me and my DBF haha! So nice that you both share a love of Disney!

That would be a great thing to do right before you leave! I'm hoping Lion King comes through here sometime! It looks fantastic!

Hi!!! I'm going to head over to your TR, too!

Beauty and the Beast sounds amazing! Those old ladies sound so funny, that would normally annoy me too, but if they're entertaining, then I don't mind! :rotfl: I can't believe that usher made you delete your picture, that's ridiculous! Glad you guys had a great time! :goodvibes

Can't wait to read your first DLR update! Did I mention I am SOOOOO jealous that you are going there? :rotfl:

I'm not completly finished reading and I'm a little late, but I'm deffinetly in now!!! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I definitely thought the usher was a bit over-dramatic, but oh well. Just one of those people!

:rotfl:

You aren't late! We still have a few months to go, and then almost 11 months until DLR! So welcome!! New readers make me happy! :cloud9:

Here it is - the first official DLR update to my PTR!

The Background:

DM has wanted to go go DLR for YEARS; I've been very, very fortunate to grow up as a yearly WDW-trip child as my grandparents lived in that area and we went every single year. But, every year, DM would request that we go to DLR instead, and DF would always complain about how different DLR is and that we were going to WDW because of that.

Then, DH and I got married and started talking about eventually going to DLR. We were hanging out with DM a few weeks ago, and we started talking about how next summer will be my last shot at a trip for a good 3-5 years. (I'll be clerking at a firm during the summer once I start school next fall, and I'll have to work my way up to PTO once I graduate and get a full time job.) So, DM said it's DLR or nothing!

The three of us cornered DF and told him how much we want to go to WALT'S park! We used the "You can't call yourself a Disney fan and be so anti-DLR!" He still wasn't very excited about it, but he at least didn't blow off the idea. Then came the "Well, we're going there, so you stay here to take care of the animals or go too" line from DM, and magically, he's on board!

So, we are officially planning our first trip to DLR!

The Cast:

Of course, you already know quite a bit about DH and myself, so we'll skip on by us!

Joining us on this trip will be DF and DM.

DF - WDW addict; watches the WDW planning DVD non-stop, even without an upcoming trip. Being forced to watch the DLR part of the DVD, and is slowly crossing over. Works for a telecommunications company and loves the Rangers.

DM - Two-time breast cancer and one-time skin cancer survivor; my hero! Adores DH and loves that she gained a son when DH and I got married; loves to spoil her two kids (way too much) and runs an at-home daycare (where the kids consider her like a mom/grandma). Big WDW fan, and loves US, too. The reason this trip to DLR is finally coming true!

Here they are on our Orlando trip last December (where we went to WDW, Sea World, US, and Discovery Island over 12 days):

Grand_Californian-exterior.jpg

We are already booked at the Grand Californian!!! We are renting DVC again, and the owner booked for us on the 11-month day last Tuesday! DH and I will have a villa, and DF and DM will have their own villa!

I'm so very excited to be planning a trip to a place we've never been, and to share it with all of you!! Let's get this new adventure going; and as DH sings all the time (points if you know the movie!) - "Tell everybody I'm on my way! New friends and new places to see!!!"

Hop on over to the DL board, they're super helpful over there. We also just went in March, so I have a TR if you want to check it out!

Sounds fabulous!

I may have already spent quite a bit of time reading your TR in one sitting... :rolleyes1

OK, I'm all caught up......:surfweb:

Kudos for deciding to forgo HP this trip....I agree with your DH...it'll probably still be packed in October. I am debating if I should try to "slip" that in for our trip in July, but I think I'd be pushing my luck....DH is NOT a HP fan!!

I'm envious that you're going back to DL....I secretly hope that my DH will have SUCH a good time at WDW that he'll entertain a WEST COAST vacation....we'll see :3dglasses

I'm excited about the whole trip, but the Walt geek in me is really just excited to see HIS park! I'm hoping to find some sort of bios to read beforehand to get even more excited about all of it!

CONGRATS on going to DL!! I've never been! I bet you're going to have a blast though!

Lou Mongello actually just did a podcast about DL (and how it ties into WDW)...I haven't finished listening yet but he has Jim Korkis on it and he found like this eight-page pitch that Roy Disney took to NYC to investors, and they talk about how DL was basically born!! It's the most recent podcast. You HAVE to listen to it if you haven't already. It's magical.

I'm so excited that you are going to DLR!! I know how much it means to your Mom, so I am glad it's a dream that is finally coming true! :lovestruc I can't wait to hear about all the plans! The Grand Californian looks amazing! I can't wait to see pictures!!

I know I already commented on FB on your choice of resorts, but again, the Grand Californian looks amazing!!!! :cool1:

I'm seriously considering a trip to Disneyland next year instead of WDW. I don't know if I can bring myself to do it though, but I really want to go there!

I LOVE the Disneyland part of the planning DVD! :lovestruc Do you have the 6 DVD set about the parks? There is an entire DVD of Disneyland and it's amazing! If I knew how to copy DVD's, I'd make you a copy and send it to you if you don't have it already, it is definitely a must see if you're going there! I've already watched it twice since I got the DVD's!

T-Rex, Tuskers, Restaurant Marakesh, The Sci Fi diner, Planet Hollywood and... I forget. I have a really horrible memory, plus we've changed them a time or two already.

I'm most excited about T-Rex because I'm a big kid that loves animatronic dinosaurs and I didn't really get to enjoy it all that much the last time we went. I must make up for it this time.

I have a terrible memory, too! I'm so glad I'm not the only one! We LOVED T-Rex when we went in October. I actually wasn't feeling well (there was a mishap with one of my medications...:rolleyes1) but the whole meal/experience was fantastic! I can't wait to go back this year!

You know the part where Belle tells Gaston off after he proposes? The lady starts yelling "You go GIRLFRIEND! You show him; he's just craving attention! You SHOW him!"

Then, Belle came out in her ball gown, and she starts repeating "Oh my goodness, oh my goodness! It's just all so beautiful. It's BEAUTIFUL! Everything is just so beautiful!"

We had a really, really mean usher in our section though. DH and I took a self-portrait during intermission of ourselves - not of us and the stage or anything, JUST ourselves, after we saw other people doing it in various sections. Our usher comes marching over to us, and DEMANDED that I delete that picture because of "copyright" issues. I was completely confused since all you could see in the picture was our faces, so I politely said OK because I didn't want to start something. He starts rudely telling me that he MUST watch me delete the picture, then stood there over my shoulder while I did it.

Other than that, we had a great night!!

I'm going to do my first DLR update tomorrow!!!

Those little old ladies sound so cute! I'm glad you guys had a good time, even though that guy was a jerk! How unnecessary.... :sad2:

I want to go see The Lion King so bad but tickets are still so expensive! Tickets START at $72.50 at that is for the Mezzanine, the very last row again the wall all the way in the back! The next available seats are $128.50 each! :sad2:

Wow!! I know I commented on your FB already but I'm still blown away that you got villas at the GC!

I have the same relationship with DH in the kitchen! He's a better cook and I'm a better baker; he tried to make a homemade red velvet cake for his mom's birthday one year and O.M.G.! I have no idea what he did to it, but the next morning when he pulled it out of the fridge, it smelled like spoiled milk and rotten eggs. It was terrible! Since then, he won't go near my baking supplies and I let him stick to the cooking.

When my boyfriend and I are in the kitchen, he does the meat and I do side dishes. We both bake. He's better with cookies and I'm better with cakes.

You know it kills rude people to no end if you're nice to them after they're rude to you, so he just looked at me then pretended he didn't hear me.

So true! Last night out at dinner, the waitress was rude to us and I smiled through her rudeness. She looked very upset that I wasn't affected by her rudeness.

:woohoo: you convinced Dad to go to DLR!

:woohoo::woohoo: you've set the date!!

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: you are staying at the GC!!!

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: you are doing the trip report for us!!! ;)

I've only eaten dinner at the GC, but from what I saw in an hour it was absolutly gorgeous!!! Congrats on booking it!!! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::goodvibes

 I guess I'm just spoiled... The cheap seats here in Chicago are $22.50! I've pretty much decided that I'm going to go, but I want to get my tickets from the theater so I don't have to pay Ticketmaster half the price of the ticket in "convenience charges" :headache:

The Grand Californian is BEAUTIFUL! Can't wait to hear about all of your plans!!
Sorry that usher was so rude to you-- I was a waitress in college for two summers and couldn't help snapping back at customers who were ridiculously rude to me. I never understand why people are mean for no reason!! That was incredibly big of you to be so sweet back at him-- definitely not in my personality lol!
