The Luck O' The IWISH! St. Patrick's Day Virtual 5K & 10K

Thanks for organizing this, Liz! ! You have done a great job both as cheerleader and keeping up with everyone.

Now...Bunny Hop anyone?

Just checking in to say that I was unable to run.:sad1: I've had some hip problems (IT band?) lately. Going to see my ortho tomorrow. Hope he gives me the all clear to run again.

You know what? For some reason I thought the run was going to be this weekend so I completely spaced out. I'll do the 10K Saturday or Sunday - hope that's okay :)

You're welcome Emily and Christine. :) It's been really fun doing this!

Oh, I'm sorry! I'll be interested to hear what your ortho says...if you don't mind sharing, post here or send me a PM. I have had hip issues too, and from what I've read I'm thinking it may be my IT band. I am fine right now, but if I injure it and have pain again then I will be heading to my doctor.

No problem Vicky! :)

Had a great time at my 5k. My buddy Cathy and I were joined by a co-worker and her 14 year old daughter. It was a festive atmosphere and a great course.

I think the high point was seeing my co-worker and her daughter finish their first race ever!! They were so excited!!! I think they're hooked now because we have signed up for the Dart Frog Dash (5k at the Toledo Zoo).

Everyone enjoy the warmer weather!

Susan

OK, finished the 5K. I guess I could have extended to a 10K but I have not really run much since the half. My time was 27:48. It seems the times are always slower when you are by yourself, I do not run with any music or carry a watch. I turned on my bike computer when I left, and stopped when I returned.

You're fast even when you're slow Augie! :rotfl:

Alright, I need 19 more reports of races done and the list will be ALL green! Come on guys, you can do it!! The luck of the IWISH has not run out yet! :shamrock:

Just went back to look at the list of 5/10km people. Impressive # of green names! Great work, everybody!

Yikes! I forgot to report my walk. I did a 10k and it took me 1hr/15 mins. So glad to read that so many participated in the St. Patrick's Day challenge. Now, on to the Biggest Loser Resort on April 25th!:cool1::thumbsup2

Well I found out that its trochanteric bursitis. Its from favoring my right leg when I run. I had an ACL reconstruction on that side about three years ago and then I had plantar fasciitis on the same side about a year ago. So my left hip was taking the beating I guess. One good thing though...I found out that I don't have arthritis in my hips (I AM 53 ya' know) Funny thing is, it only bothered me when I slept on my right side. So anywhooo...I'll probably be good to go (run) after about four weeks of P.T. :woohoo:

OK, sorry to say still have not done it because air quality has declined further to a current 500 parts per million which is pretty much off the charts hazardous, so post poning further!

Did mine this morning! :)

I ran to the dock in my town from my house which is exactly 3.25 miles :)

All done, I did my 10K on St Patrick’s Day. Unfortunately, I am little slow on the race report. I did my 10K course in about 01:28:00, which was not my best performance but I had fun. Actually, I was on a business trip in Oak Brook, IL and discovered that they had an extensive bike trail network there. I plotted my course from a map I found online and had a blast on the trails, what an adventure. :)

I ended up running 8.3 miles on Saturday so I guess that would make it 13K. Lucky 13 :)

Thanks again for hosting Liz!

The list is up to date, thanks for the reports you guys! You did great! :thumbsup2

Hang in there!! I'll wait for your report! :)

Thanks for the update, I'm glad you'll be ok!

I haven't gone to the doctor for my hip issue. I read about it online and figured out that I believe it was/is either my IT band or bursitis. So I find it interesting that you were thinking it may have been your IT band and now you are diagnosed with the bursitis. I notice my hip feels sore if I sit cross-legged too much, or if I sleep on my right side for too long (it is my right hip). Maybe I should just go to the doctor....ugh.
