A library card isn't a right, it's privilege.
I don't think people should be allowed in the library if they can't behave. But tis up the librarian in charge to enforce the rules. One loud person can ruin the experience for so many people.
The libraries in this area have changed. They are places where people gather for question and answer book reading activities, story telling, etc. etc. The children's section is always noisy.
The only quiet libraries around here anymore are the college libraries. The community college library has a wonderful section for children, and the kids are quiet there. Some of the college students get out of hand at times though.
Me too, but, I have a work ethic that would never allow that, most especially at tax payers' expense. Not to mention I am too darn busy, we do a lot of mortgage closings.
there are two floors the childerns and teen books are up stairs and the can talk and hang out, there is a bird cages with birds a tree house like structure, vending machines, computers and desk, then they have quiet rooms,
Then the adults are on first floor, were it is quiet.
Im still not use to it, usually the libraries, they want to make it fun and safe for the kids to hang out and to do there work.
While I do think it a great idea to have a fun and safe place for kids to "hang" out and do their work, libraries are NOT McDonald's playland. Our town library is still stuck in the 1900's and they even have a "Quiet" sign on the door. The children's area has a door (imagine that) that can be closed when there is an activity that requires noise.
Can anyone tell me why there is a problem teaching children to be quiet? Or learning some restraint?
Well, then, I guess it makes it OK. I am sorry, but, that perverse logic makes no sense to me. Work is for work, you are being paid to work, not DIS. If you cannot find something to keep you busy that is work related then you should go home and DIS till you are purple.
