The lost camera Saga! Update: 9/5 FOUND, 9/8 PICS!

That lost and found will turn it up!!

I'll go ahead and share another positive found story!! I bought dh a brand spankin new digital 5mp camera, he was doing a beer taste, and dd were wandering Epcot - I stopped at a France Champagne stand, and put down my bag, but to get my id I had to dig to the bottom (I now have a baggalini - I do learn my lessons!!) . . .

and then happily walked away with my champagne, and my duffly WDW tote bag... and someone came running behind me yelling, I turned to see this amazing "good" person telling me I left my camera!! *duh... just laying there on the ground!! So the kiosk CM kept the camera, but this good Samaritan let me know it was missing!! (I drinking champagne may not have noticed it for awhile!! AND then wouldnt know where to begin to track it down!! )

I hope you find your camera. I know how you are feeling right now. I have lost 2 cameras at WDW over the years, but unfortunately I never got them back. I lost one of those cameras last summer and it was brand new and purchased just for our trip. Luckily, the day I lost it I took a full roll of film I had shot out of the case and put it in my suitcase at the resort. We hadn't taken many pictures the day I lost the camera. I was happy I didn't lose many pictures, but was unhappy to have lost a new Canon camera.

Two weeks ago during our trip, my daughter and I were getting on TTA in the Magic Kingdom and there was a cell phone lying on the seat. She immediately handed it to a cast member standing nearby. My son also found someones resort key at the POTC gift shop and handed it to the cashier. I can't imagine keeping anything I found of someone elses at WDW or anywhere for that matter.

We lost our camera on our first trip with our kids- and after getting to spend a long time with Mary Poppins and Burt and Alice and the Mad Hatter- and seeing tons of other characters without even trying- we lost our camera.

We stopped for a rest and dh took it out of the bag and when we got up it remained on the table- we realized it was missing maybe 5 minutes after walking away- and went back- and it was gone.

Called Lost and Found for a good month after and it never did show up- I like you- just wish we could recover the photos- but such is life-

I do know that the better the description of the camera and the contents of the bag you have the more likely it will be returned if found and turned in- the problem with many cameras is many people have the same or very similar- and when talking to the people at lost and found- you'd be surprised how many people say- "We lost a silver cannon digital camera"- the best thing to do is to lable your items by engraving and keeping the serial number somewhere other than the camera bag- so if it is lost you can have many things to describe it.

Also- lost and found items that go unclaimed are sold in a CM store of broken, damaged, outdated merchandise.

If your camera doesn't show up- I do believe in Karma- and although whoever may have taken ours- I'm assuming that karma will eventually take care of them for not turning it in- in the mean time- and a few years later- my family replaced the orginal lost camera- only to have the next one stolen by someone who shattered a car window to get it- but luckily that one didn't even have the card in it... and just recently we were given an even better brand new camera just because...

I'm so glad you got your camera back. We lost ours in February at MGM and we never able to reclaim it. I'm guessing someone thought they found a free camera. The camera I can replace. All the pictures on it, I cannot. Plus it had many of our wedding pictures on the card. I did learn a good lesson....download often.

See, I told you so... Just had to be patient! I think having your identification info in/on the camera helped, as WDW gets tons of unlabeled lost stuff, and really can't return a lot of it as there is no way for them to know who it really belongs to. So, those of you who have lost non-ID'd stuff, it doesn't always mean someone found it and decided to keep it, it could also mean WDW couldn't tell who it belonged to. Just think of how many pairs of sunglasses and hats they collect off of the roller coaster type rides each year - who has ID on those things?

Congratulations on getting your camera back! I once walked away from my camera in the bakery at the front of IOA and didn't realize it for about 5 minutes. When I did realize it - I've never run so fast in my life! But the TMs working in the bakery had found it and taken it in the back, so it was perfectly safe and sound.

Let me just recommend to everybody - DON'T PUT ALL YOUR PICS ON JUST ONE MEMORY CARD! Instead of buying one of those huge 2gb or 4gb cards, buy a bunch of 256mb or 512mb cards and split your pics up. That way, if you lose your camera, or if something goes blooey on a memory card, you will not lose all of your pics, only a small portion.
