Just back from Disney.. and I have to say, there's got to be something someone out there can do or help me with..

We just got back today from a week at Disney, but the sad thing is, is that I lost our camera on Thursday 8/31 at Animal Kingdom (somewhere between Lion King and Tusker House) during the downpour in the afternoon

[It's a Canon G2, Silver color, was in a black bag and lost&found does know about it, but no luck so far..]

Now, I wouldn't say it's a 'big deal'.. but my wife seems very depressed and was crying.. it's our youngest DS2's first trip to Disney and the pictures are now gone..

I want to believe in the goodness of people, so someone, please help..

KEEP THE CAMERA (I don't care).. I just want the PICTURES off the MEMORY CARD.. I"ll even pay you for it, or send you a reward... this is NOT a joke and not the type of first post i'd like to be making, but.. oh well.

[I think our address was in the case, but if not, you can e.mail me at i.chen@charter.net]

If people can spread the word to other boards or websites, I'd appreciate it.. I'm definetly not savy enough to make my own website (like the t-mobile sidekick guy), but if I could, I would... maybe someone out there can help.

Thanks
-Ian

EDIT: The more and more I looked at the title and thinking about other's comments, the less I liked the word 'disappointed', therefore I removed that and tried to make this more positive. Thanks :)

UPDATE: 9/5/06 - Camera and CF has been found. Thank you so much for all your well wishes and prayers and help. :thumbsup2 :yay: :grouphug:

Update: 9/8/06 - A few pics that I promised :)

I am confused, why are you disappointed in people?

I did report it to lost and found.. we'll see huh?

I'm disappointed in people because you would think that someone would realize how important pictures of your 2 year old at his first time to disney might be priceless to the parents.. yet it is unlikely anyone is going to 'turn it in' to us

I guess cos no one handed it in.

I would be soooo upset too.

I have copied your info on to the DIB (the uk version of the Dis,) incase anyone can help you. I sure hope they can. i too would be so upset to loose the photos, however try and hang on to the memories you have.

You never know it may still turn up yet? Good luck and a sprinkle of pixie Dust to your family pixiedust:

Ian heres what ive put................... fingers crossed I will check the site daily.

Can anyone on the DIS put out on All Ears ???? :confused3

Thank you Lindy so much...

My wife was telling me after we lost it 'i keep staring at other people's camera cases as if it looked like ours ' (just so weird i guess..)

Thing is, the boy (Andrew) probably won't even remember it all, but, I guess in my mind it's 'just not right'.. I thought about calling the pawn shops in the area, but didn't..

I think i've almost become obsessed about this in the last 2 days or so... I would wake up and be looking at the clock at '9' to say, ok.. time to call lost and found. Even had dreams that maybe the memory card would s how up in the mail anonymously..

One plus.. my wife and I didn't argue about it.. heh

:grouphug: :grouphug: to you both!!!

I can understand how upsetting this must be for you guys. My DH and I went to Cancun for our 1st ever 'real' vacation a few years ago. Stupidly forgot our camera ( :confused3 ) and bought some 'cheapies' down there. When we got them developed we ended up with a grand total of 5 photos out of 72!!! I bawled my eyes out!!!

Your situation is 1000xs worse!!! :guilty: As parents, we cherish the memories of all the kids and would be devestated to lose such treasured pics.

I will keep my fingers (and toes!) crossed that something works and you recover your property!

PS - please post to let us know if you get them back!! :thumbsup2

Ian, I know this is by no ways *alot* of help.

However, we go in 6 weeks time, would you like me to take photos for you ????
I appreciate this does not help with pictures of Andrew, however did he have a favourite character or anything, that we could photograph? We are going to all the parks, so we can take pretty much anything.

Im happy to post him a postcard to, from which ever character, if this might ease things a bit.

Had over 30 hits so far on the UK site, but no luck, as of yet.

Linda x

Oh no! That is terrible. I hope someone has found it and has already mailed it home to you. :(

Hopefully there are honest people who will find it and turn it in. I pray you find it.

Just so that you do not lose all hope in human nature... we were visiting a park in PA and DW left the camera in the ladies room. It was about 15 -30 minutes before she realized she had left it there. Luckily someone found it and turned it in to lost and found.

The same thing happened to us at Disneyland in 1998. My DH was holding my oldest daughter's camera (the one we had guven her for 8th grade graduation a few months before), and he left it on a park bench. We checked lost and found every day we were there, and the camera had her address label on the back of it, but it was never turned in. :(

Definitely call the main lost & found at the Ticket/Transfer area every day. Sometimes, if you are relentless in your pursuit, it will reach more people who may have knowledge of it. Ask the Lost & Found CMs to be in contact with the Animal Kingdom folks for you. I know they gather items at a specific location in each park, then transfer them to the main Lost & Found.

Good luck. We really hope that someone turned it in, and perhaps it will make it's way home to you.

I remember reading a post once where a little one left his/her blankie in their resort. It somehow went through the Disney laundry system, but it did make its way back to its owner weeks later. Make sure they have all of your contact info. :goodvibes

Linda,

Thanks for the offer.. let me talk to my wife about it.. he may actually like that.

Not to whine, but the camera probably has about.. 100-150 pictures of the two, because we did pretty much all the character ones (chef mickey, crystal palace, hollywood/vine,etc ).. we did get a disposable one and grab some pictures on saturday (got one of mickey and the gang in toontown on sat, so i guess that's not all bad)

Perhaps I'm just old fashioned or a softie.. (or maybe I should have made this a poll), but if I found something, I would turn it in.. so would 99.9%+ of the people on here I bet..

It makes me so cynical about some people sometimes...

I hope you get it back.

I agree with the pp post, we'll be doing Chef Mickey's in a couple of weeks, I can send you any pics I get from there, if you PM me. But, I'm not doing any others you listed. And most characters we meet in the park will probably have my kids in there, so you won't want those.

Also, yes call day after day if you need to.

I would think for the most part, someone would turn it in, but there are a few who would not. :guilty:

There are more honest people out there than dishonest ones so keep checking with Disney Lost and Found --- you never know.

This won't help you now but what we have started to do is to take something (either our PDA or laptop) when we go on vacation so when we go back to the hotel at night we can download the pictures we take each day. (I had a USB key fail awhile back and lost everything I had on it --- after that we've started to make sure that we backup everything.)

Keeping our fingers crossed that you'll be getting your camera/pictures back...

No 'canon' or 'camera' on ebay or craiglist that I can tell so far..

Who knows, the person may not even read the internet..

I wonder if the person would or could just 'erase the memory card' without even thinking twice about it..

Interestingly, they won't have the charger, so would have to buy a new one for it..

I just feel this deep down sadness :(

I 'wish' inside, there is enough press or word that gets out, via internet or e.mail or (I dream CNN).. that something magically actually does happen (but deep down inside, I feel it's really gone, or the card's even erased already)

I know, I'm probably silly about quoting myself..
but someone just reminded me (thanks, btw) of the other perspective that I should be thankful that it is 'just the camera' and that we're lucky enough and blessed to have the kids.. and that, is the honest truth and bottom line.

Every last single parent out there knows exactly what i'm talking about and what the kids mean...

[What a crazy world we live in folks.. sometimes, I just wonder]

{I'd still like the pictures back though, if possible.. :)}

We do the same thing with our Lap top. I believe in the good in people. I lost my vidio camera in the MK it was returned to lost and found. A few bad apples does not spoil the batch.
