I am going back to WDW after nearly 2 years and was wondering if they have reopened the ride inside of The Living Sea pavilion yet.

Although the ride was kind of neat, it really didn't amount to much. It's amazing to me how many people say they now skip the Living Seas because it isn't there!!

Is it just me???

the "hydrolaters"? I don't remember a ride in the Living Seas...perhaps it just wasn't memorable?

The ride is completely gone tracks and all. I assume that means it is never coming back. But the hydrolators are still there. ;)

KatelynnsAuntie,

I believe the ride that they are talking about is the short "tram" kind of ride that took you on a short tour of the Living Seas' Aquariums. You would board it when you got OFF of the hydrolaters.

It was not "much" to speak of.

No it's not there anymore and the aquarium seems to have less , so my family decides to skip it sometimes. The ride used to have something like the people's mover in the magic kingdom, I have a video tape with it too, we were surprised to go back two years ago and see that it wan't there anymore, dh thought I was loosing it.

Aww. I always liked that ride. It was so relaxing. :(

So do you just walk through where the ride part used to be now?

I liked it because you passed under an area where the fish swam above you. The whole Living Seas used to have a flow-the movie, the hydrolators, the ride in the Sea Cabs and then you could explore on your own. Now it seems all broken up.

No, you walk a short distance to the hydrolators (either after seeing the film or you can bypass the film and go straight to the hydrolators). After you ride to Sea Base Alpha in the hydrolators, the back door opens and you exit into the Sea base (instead of into the boarding area for the trams).

I have always loved this attraction even without the "ride" part. When we were there in May even the numbers of fish and creatures seemed to be drastically reduced. We will pass on this one for our trip next month.

That's one thing I don't understand. The ride was too short to be worthwhile but it seems to me that it would be nice to be able to walk through the area and see the sea life around and above you. I can't think of a reason that they wouldn't have wanted to do that. I guess that's why I'm not a Disney executive!

Sorry, but we're one of those families that usually skips the pavillion now. I think it was a mistake to take out the ride. It destroyed the flow of the experience. The elevators now seem to serve no useful purpose since they're fake anyway. When the ride was there, I think it helped the whole illusion of actually descending into the depths of the sea. The whole pavillion is kind of lifeless now. It seriously needs an update and some new displays, and hopefully a return of the ride.

We skip it as well now. I don't see why they can't just put a moving walk way in... kind of like Sea World has... The last time we went there (Christmas 2002) I don't even remember seeing any fish!

I'm with disneysteve and PatriciaH. Living Seas used to be an experience: see the movie, descend 300 meters below sea level, take the Sea Cab (omni-mover, wasn't it?) through that tunnel of sea life and end up in Sea Base Alpha. True, it was nothing wild, but it helped the suspension of disbelief - it gave the feeling of being somewhere else. Now it's just like walking into the aquarium at our local zoo, with a rumbling fake elevator added.

I doubt that we'll drop by this fall.

I would also really like to see this pavilion redone. It just doesn't hold any allure for me, I even find it rather dull. It's a shame, because I think it has the potential to be a really neat pavilion if done in a more entertaining/intriguing way.

For awhile there, I thought I was going nuts; I KNEW that there was once a ride in that pavilion, but lots of people said that I was imagining things. Confirmation is a wonderful thing.

Once I discovered that the ride was gone, we started cheating on Living Seas. We do like seeing the aquarium, but the whole lead-in just wastes an enormous amount of time. We decided to make the most of what is still there by entering through the exit, and that is how we always do it now.
