The Little Things ("Magical"Tips)... Please Share!

That's going in my notes! I plan on seeing the fireworks on day one of stay. That leave me a number of nights to try and do this!

It's tough to time. BTMRR is just better at night. I rode it numerous times before I caught the couple dancing and the guy shooting in the building.

An odd but interesting place to watch the fireworks is the Swiss Family Robinson Tree House.

Hanging out in the Magic Kingdom after the fireworks are over watching the people leave the park. We grab a snack and drink find a place sit near Main Street and relax. It is fun to watch the kids in strollers who are just crashed from their day. Sometimes we stay until the "Kiss Goodnight." Either way it is so nice when we do finally leave the crowds are gone and we can stroll out to our not crowded bus. Cheers!!!!

We do something similar at HS. Grab a snack from Sweet Spells and sit at the tables across the street and watch the crowds exit. Another thing we enjoy is browsing through the stores after the parks close for the night. The stores are usually open for an hour after park closing. We like to shop then while the crowds and traffic clear. If you go during Flower and Garden festival, check out the festival center in Future World. It is kind of remote and very few people are back there. It is a nice cool spot to get away from crowds, grab a snack, and see some interesting exhibits. We loved the video of how the imagineers assemble the topiaries. We found it fascinating.

I just have to say...we do this! We ride the small ferries between MK and the GF and Poly. This June, our captain, Bruce, sang, "Zip-ah-dee-doo-dah," and, "There's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" on the ride. He was AMAZING, and it was truly a magical part of our trip.

Bruce is so great! You can tell he loves spreading a little magic and putting smiles on people's faces.

This is just a general thing, but if you have encountered a really stand-out cast member, head over to guest services and tell them! They'll have you fill out a little card. The cast member then gets recognized by their manager and it can help them with future promotions! Just a nice way to send the magic back to these awesome CMs that make our trips special. :)

I love to offer others to take photos of their whole party when I see someone taking a photo. Especially couples (because they end up having only photos or each other and not themselves). It's a great way to make someone's day.

If you can ride, get in line for Expedition Everest. When the CM asks you how many in your party, ask if you can ride in the front row. They usually have a line going. You may have to wait a little bit longer, but the view at the very top of the mountain just before going backwards is magical. All of WDW in literally 10 seconds! Try doing this at night if you're there for when AK is open later near the holidays. Try to experience AK at night more anyway if you're there when there are later hours! It's a whole different world!

I love Magic Kingdom late at night. After Wishes I love to try and ride Splash Mountain, if you time it right you can see the second Electrical Parade when you float out of the mountain (and again just before the big drop!)

The Kiss Goodnight is the perfect way to end a day at Magic Kingdom, especially on your last night, it's the perfect goodbye from Disney World.

At Hollywood Studios try looking under the mat at the entrance to Muppets 3D. It's by the box office where the sign says "key under the mat" and sure enough it is!

At Animal Kingdom I used to love looking out from the bridge at Camp Minnie Mickey to see the few remaining hints at the un-built Beastly Kingdom but that's all gone now.

One thing I must do when I go back next year is find the lost property for the Magic Kingdom railroad. Apparently there's loads of hidden gems there like Aladdin's lamp and Mary Poppins umbrella but I'm not sure which station they're at.

We bought glow necklaces for the kids to wear at night. And we brought bubbles to blow while we waited in line. So cute to see all the kids rushing over to pop them! We ALWAYS get the wake up calls!! (Make sure you have your child answer the phone and have your video camera ready to capture the reaction) It's fun in EPCOT to have a CM "sign" your autograph book by writing your child's name in their language (China (we usually buy a fan which they sign), Japan and Morocco). We also love picking our own pearl in Japan, they make quite a production out of it! I don't know if they make them anymore, but back in the day we had personalized name tags made up that looked like the CM name tags and EVERYONE called my girls by name. Nothing like Cinderella addressing your daughter by name! I think they were called Guest of Honor badges. Another fun thing in EPCOT to keep kids from getting bored, we try on and take a picture of the girls in a hat in every country (like the sombrero, fez, viking hat, etc). They like to pose and it's fun to have something to search for in each country (other than penny pressers which my kids love too).

Here are some of the best tips my family has discovered or been told:
  • The Electric Water Pageant is really cute and can be seen from a few different places. (Polynesian: 9pm, Grand Floridian: 9:15pm, Wilderness Lodge: 9:30pm, Fort Wilderness: 9:45pm, Contemporary: 10pm) :)
  • Get an "autograph" from Lady and the Tramp at Tony's restaurant in Magic Kingdom. paw:
  • Get some free soda at Club Cool in Epcot. And try the Beverly! :teeth:
  • Watching the fireworks from the beach at the Polynesian is absolutely beautiful and they still play the soundtrack for you.
  • Sometimes you can get an "edgier" Jungle Cruise ride later at night because there might not be any kids on the ride. :rolleyes1
  • Order the Kitchen Sink at Beaches & Cream. You won't regret it, especially if you have kids! :mickeybar
  • You can sometimes get free ice cream just by going on a DVC tour. :p
  • Ask for ketchup at the Whispering Canyon Cafe.
  • If you have kids with you, request a free wake up call from a Disney character! :stitch:
  • Listen to the phones on Main Street USA and in Tomorrowland. :cool1:
You got to tell me the deal is with the ketchup...

What a lot of on site guests who just use the buses don't get to experience is being on the Ferry heading over to MK and catching that first glimpse of the castle across the water. So exciting!

Yes! It's so easy to do on your way out of the park. We had a hilarious driver named Ian on the Safari at AK. His way of speaking and his humour were a cross between Robert Downey Jr and William Shatner. I think his monologue went over the heads of many on the truck, but DH and I were laughing our heads off. He really added a lot to our enjoyment of the ride. I told him so after the ride and I stopped by guest services on the way out. We did the safari 4 times during our trip with 4 different drivers, and he was the best.

Heading across the water from where? Want to make sure I give that a try so we get to see it! Thank you!!

I was referring to the ferry from the Transportation Center. We usually rent a car so we park at the TTC and take the ferry or monorail over to MK. I much prefer the ferry and have a wonderful memory of standing at the front of the boat with my DD waiting for the castle to come into view for the first time. She was so thrilled when she spotted it. Just not the same as when you arrive by bus or monorail.

Thank you! We are staying offsite part of the time and will have to park there so it is good to know to enjoy and watch for that. Thank you!!

Do you know if they do the kiss goodnight after MVMCP fireworks?

Nice Tips. I'm not sure I've every seen LADY AND THE TRAMP live characters. Going to have to go google images... maybe I just need to refresh my memory.

Definitely going to try that night time JUNGLE CRUISE!

I keep hearing about the BEVERLY at club Cool. I don't drink sugar (only water) but I'm going just to taste the BEVERLY! (*_*)
Don't take a big swig!!! :scared1::scared1::scared1:
