It was 6 years ago when my blood sister told me about this little kitten at an animal shelter. She told me that she did not think anyone would want this kitten, because it had a bad leg. The kitty had a birth defect. I felt really bad for the kitty and I wanted to save it, if I could. So my mom took me to the animal shelter.

I saw the tiny little kitten. I saw the bad leg and I did not see much hope for this kitten :sad1: I did not think there was a good chance that someone would adopt this kitten, so I told them that I would adopt the kitten if the kitten could be adopted.

The kitten was a little black kitten and I was told that it was a female kitten. The people at the shelter had to have a doctor come look at the kitty first to see if this kitten could be adopted. They said the doctor would come the next day.

Well my heart was just in love with this kitten and I wanted to save it. I did not know if this kitten could be save or not at this time, so all I could do was hope. The kitten looked like a little black olive, so Olive was the name I would call this kitty

My mom purchased me a Winnie the Pooh audio tape for me when I was around 4 years old. I love that tape and I really like this song that goes " I am just a little black raincloud " :cloud9: Since the little kitty was black and since I love the song that goes " I am just a little black raincloud " I wanted to play my Winnie the Pooh tape for the kitty

Well the next day came. This was the day. The day that I would find out. Could this kitten be adopted or would the kitten have to be put to sleep ? I did not want the kitten to die. I wanted to save this kitten.

Well the people at the animal shetler said this little kitten had many problems and that the best thing to do was for the little kitten to be put to sleep. I was so upset :sad1:

Someone thought the kitten was a female, but later I was told that he was a male kitten, so I changed his name to Oliver  I wanted to see the kitten just one more time, before he left the world. This time I knew that I could not save his life. I do feel like I save him in a way, because he had me as his friend

When I went to see the kitten one last time, I noticed that he had a collar on and my name was on the collar. When someone says they want to adopt an animal I think this shelter puts a collar on the animal with the last name of the person who wants to adopt the animal. When I saw my name on Oliver's collar I felt like this was my kitten even though I could not adopt him :flower3:

Well the next day Oliver was put to sleep :sad1: It was sad that he had to die, but I was happy that he had a friend  So the story of Oliver is a sad story and a happy story  Oliver left this world, but he is still my Cat :flower3:

Right after Oliver left the world, I saw another little black kitten at the shelter  This kitten was a female. They said that this kitten could be adopted  So I saved the life of this kitten and I named her Olive

This is the day that I celebrate Olive's birthday :goodvibes I am not sure when she was born, but it was around this time. She is 6 years old. Happy Birthday to Olive, Happy Birthday to the Cat, Happy Birthday to my little Olive, I Love her so much :flower3:

I have played my Winnie the Pooh audio tape for little Olive many many times and I have played the little black rain cloud song for her over and over again :cloud9: I want to tell the characters from Winnie the Pooh all about Olive the Cat :goodvibes

I saved Oliver by being his friend and I saved Olive by adopting her  If Oliver could have been adopted, I would have adopted him. If I could have adopted Oliver, I would not have adopted Olive. So in a way Oliver saved Olive :flower3:

I Love and Adore Oliver and I Love and Adore Olive :flower3:  :cloud9:

What a great story! Do you have any pictures of Olive from when she was a kitten? I love black cats.

You are about the kindest person ever. Your parents did a wonderful job raising such a kind and sensitive child. I'm glad that as an adult you didn't lose any of those great qualities as adults sometimes do.
oliver was very lucky to know you and Oliva is very lucky to have you.

Thank you so so so much for sharing this beautiful story with us!!!

I love cats... and I am so proud that you went to a shelter to save a life. Oliver got to feel what love felt like because you spent time with him. He didn't have to die alone... he knew what it was like to feel a kind touch and be spoken to sweetly. He is one of the lucky ones.

And it sounds like Oliver brought you there to find Olive. She'll always be very special to you. Thank you so much for saving her life:) You're a wonderful, wonderful person! I bet she loves you very, very, very much!

Awwwwwwww thank you for your very kind words  Your words mean a lot to me :) I like to show kindness to others  Sherri you are a very kind person

Olive looks so much like our Betty! Betty was rescued also. She and her brother, who we named Mike, had been left in a dumpster on a hot day in August when they were about a week or two old. We didn't think they would live as they were very weak from starvation and dehydration but they made it. We bottle fed them every two hours round the clock until they were strong enough to take food on their own.
They are almost three years old now. Betty sleeps with my daughter every night and Mike is my special baby. They have a lot of little quirks that seem to come with bottle fed kitties, but they are very special to us.

Happy 6th birthday to Olive! Hope she has a long and happy life with you!

Forget all this angel baloney....As someone who has had many "pound puppies and kittens" and has worked at a vet's, it's people who do not spay their pets who cause all those baby animals to be put to sleep.

Just wondering if everyone on this thread has spayed all their animals?
That is who the true heroes are.

Thank you for saying that and thanks for sharing your cat stories.
I have four beautiful cats, all rescues, although I may have rescued them they all have rescued me.
My kids are very much cat people as well. The first thing they do when they come home is to find the boys' and talk to them about their days.

Talk about depressing...thanks for "brightening" up my dreary Friday. Ugg.

 FC:hug: I'm glad to be your friend too!!! Olive is gorgeous! She's so petite!

That watch is the coolest thing ever how did you do that???

You're a wonderful wonderful person!
