You are totally correct my dear, great insight! We truly have so much to be thankful for and proud of. I am beyond elated at the direction our country is taking and come late January, it will be official.

Can he pardon himself? Lord knows he's committed crimes!

According to John Dean (Nixon's counsel), Nixon determined that he could pardon himself but did not want to do so because it would taint his place in history. I have seen some legal analysis giving very strained intrepretations as to why bush could not pardon himself but I did not find these intrepretations to be compelling. My best guess is that bush probably does have the power to pardon himself and may well do so.

If bush does indeed issue a pardon to himself, it will seal his place in history. If Nixon did not have the guts to issue his own pardon, historians will have a field day with the concept of bush having to pardon himself.

Even if bush does issue himself a pardon, such pardon is only good in the US and will not protect bush or cheney if they go overseas after they leave office. Rumsfeld had to flee France a while back due to the fear that he might be arrested. A couple of groups intend to pursue and attempt to indict and arrest bush if he leaves the US. According to one international scholar, the only places where bush will be safe will be Saudi Arabia and Israel. I doubt that bush will be doing a great deal of international travel after his term in office is up.

OMG! I just saw Keith Olbermann's Sarah Palin Turkey Massacre video on youtube. What the heck was she thinking giving an interview with a smiling man in the background holding onto convulsing dying turkeys? I know that I a bit late to see the footage but ... ... I knew she was dumb but not that dumb!

So, do any of you have your little aprons on in anticipation of cooking for Thursday? Or are all you no-good liberals eating Tofurky?

By the way, I've had Tofurky. It is truly awful. We have a vegetarian who visits every year so I try to make her something special. This year it's gnocci with a wild mushroom cream sauce.

All the wild mushrooms were lovingly picked by hipppies, who traded them with me for some herbal tea and homemade beads.
