Please, shoot up a flare if you spot "the thread". :lmao:

You can probably take your eyes off the northern sky as it's a good bet that flare won't be set off. Go indoors and enjoy your party! :goodvibes

looking form the other side I hope you all crash and burn ;) ,BUT what do you think of this scenario, would you back it, both Clinton and Obma supporters. At the convention nether candidate has enough votes, so they both bow out for Al Gore

Shirley Anita St. Hill Chisholm (November 30, 1924 – January 1, 2005) was an American politician, educator and author. She was a Congresswoman, representing New York’s 12th District for seven terms from 1968 to 1983. In 1968, she became the first African American woman elected to Congress. On January 23, 1972, she became the first major party African American candidate for President of the United States. She won 152 delegates.

• I was the first American citizen to be elected to Congress in spite of the double drawbacks of being female and having skin darkened by melanin. When you put it that way, it sounds like a foolish reason for fame. In a just and free society it would be foolish. That I am a national figure because I was the first person in 192 years to be at once a congressman, black and a woman proves, I think, that our society is not yet either just or free.

• I want history to remember me not just as the first black woman to be elected to Congress, not as the first black woman to have made a bid for the presidency of the United States, but as a black woman who lived in the 20th century and dared to be herself.

• Of my two “handicaps” being female put more obstacles in my path than being black.

• I’ve always met more discrimination being a woman than being black.

• My God, what do we want? What does any human being want? Take away an accident of pigmentation of a thin layer of our outer skin and there is no difference between me and anyone else. All we want is for that trivial difference to make no difference.

• Racism is so universal in this country, so widespread and deepseated, that it is invisible because it is so normal.

• We Americans have a chance to become someday a nation in which all racial stocks and classes can exist in their own selfhoods, but meet on a basis of respect and equality and live together, socially, economically, and politically.

• In the end antiblack, antifemale, and all forms of discrimination are equivalent to the same thing - antihumanism.

Have to agree on that one :lmao: I was accused of doing your dirty work for you for starting that thread simply because I responded to a question regarding McCain's economy plan  I guess I can't even give a somewhat knowledgeable response even though I watch all three of them (and I'm not voting for McCain, but he gets thrown in the mix by the networks out of fairness)

GMTA. I got that same gut feeling. :thumbsup2

If neither one of them gets enough votes on the first round to gain the nomination, I believe that releases the delegates.

However, with the mess Obama and Clinton have created, I think you may see Edwards back in or Al Gore. However, I dont' think either one will bale out, but will be voted out.

Btw, Edwards was my first choice. But, frankly, it could've been Dodd or Biden or Richardson. This nomination isn't set in stone yet.

Nevermind, I shouldn't post here, I'm not liberal. Sorry, it won't happen again.

No way, can you even imagine for one second what would happen if the delegates did this? None of these candidates would get the magic number, by any stretch of any imagination, and what about the people for the vast majority that voted for either Clinton or Obama.... that's about 80% of the democratic party I'd say.... you want to **** off 80% of your base? No way!

I can't imagine how pleased I would be but it won't happen IMO. Gore is happy doing his thing now and I don't think he wants to come back to the political arena.

I could go for Edwards too though. He was my first choice. :thumbsup2

OK, I'm off to the gym so someone else needs to take over on the "Why You Should Vote For John McCain Thread" watch. As of 8:30 EST Sunday Morning, there was one false sighting as McCains economic policies were being discussed in a thread but no actual John McCain support thread.

And just to make sure that everyone got the memo, I learned yesterday that you're not allowed to use four year old articles to support your argument about events that happened four years ago solely on the grounds that your evidence presented to do so is four years old. Believe it or not, that defense was actually used.

Soooo...who's got the next watch?

Right now, I'm thinking that many Democrats would welcome different candidates. I think if the controversies continue, you just may see some previous candidates get back in the race.

McCain has an economic plan? I thought he was pretty much limited to "the jobs aren't coming back" and " NAFTA will not be renegotiated because we don't want to PO off Canada".

I could be wrong, therefore I'm manning my post in the search for the "Why You Should Vote For John McCain" thread.

Btw, it was hard to believe someone would actually use that "but it's 4 years old" rationalization. Nah, on second thought, it wasn't surprising at all. :lmao:

Considering this particular election season started last spring already, I don't see how a newcomer or one that's already bowed out can re-enter at this late date. Just think of the money they would have to raise, not to mention the legality of the delegates that are already pledged.

Exactly, it could just never happen IMHO, although we're seeing things we never thought we'd see, so what do I know....

MuggMann, no way am I going back to your John McCain's Economic Stimulus Plan, I was already run out once :lmao:

I diff to begger.......

Hey, can we have a catchy anti-McCain sticker for our signatures? I want to ride the NObama train!

We don't need one. McCain will do himself in.

He's in Iraq now. Maybe he'll come back and tell us how wonderful things are and how safe it is. Must be real safe when you're surround by 100+ heavily armed troops, escorted by armed helicopters, and transported on the ground in a heavily armed vehicle surrounded by other troops and heavily armed vehicles. Life is good if you're on the ground McCain-style.

And that's just for openers. I'll raise a "Keating-Five".

This is the information age. The news gets turned on it's head in 24 hours. At this point, IMO, Edwards or Biden or Dodd or Gore would have their pick of free news slots just for the taking. If any of the above would get back in, on join in Gore's case, there is no way on God's green earth they would be kept out of the PA debate coming up. That's the news business today.

Anything can happen in today's news climate. Let's say Edwards jumps back in and gains 45% if the vote in PA? What does it all mean?

Do you think Gore saying "a pox on both your houses" to Obama/Clinton and then jumps into the race for the good of the country wouldn't be front page news or the lead-in story for days on end?

It's not a linear world anymore. With "Youtube", 24 hour cable news, talk radio, etc. the news world truly never stops.

Plus, I did say it may've been the beef and bean burrito I had for lunch. Add to that the cocktail party food I ate last night and the spectacular Pineapple Upside-Down cheesecake I baked ............ I'm firing on all cylinders. ;)

That's the way we like you! ;)

I still say the scenario for a third Dem candidate to jump in is unprecedented at the very least, although I suppose anything is possible. How about Gore/Bloomberg as third party candidates? That would shake things up.

Obama is the nominee.

Pelosi has said so on Stephanopolis (she tried to stay oh so coy)...but....the Facts:

- She states that who ever gets the most delegates gets the nomination.
- She says the popular vote is irrelevent. (Like the National Election)
- She says not getting the minimum amount of delegates is irrelevent. (Unlike the Naitonal Election).
- She has stated for a week that both candidates wouldn't be on the ticket (she had decided on this before Texas/Ohio...which is why EVERYONE was demanding HC to quit.)
- She has no problem with disenfranchising FL & MI. (putting those states in play for the Republicans).
- She says that whatever happens during the next 3 weeks of vetting on Obama is irrelevent. Rezco, Uncle Racist, Moral Compass of Hate, Hypocrocy of not wanting the FL & MI voters to vote....none of it matters nor WILL it matter.

I apologize to those of you who indicated that this nominating process would cause McCain to win. You were right & I was wrong. I had no idea that Dean & Pelosi had already decided the nomination was over. I had no idea that they would knowingly decide to disenfranchise the voters of FL & MI. I had no idea that with their nominating rules stating that the SuperDs would decide in the event of neither candidate getting the required number of delegates that they would IGNORE THEIR OWN RULES. & with 3 freaking months before the convention & prior to 40% of Democrats getting to vote, Pelosi & Dean (& others) have decided to FIX the nomination.

I'm beyond disgusted.....& I will watch the vetting of Obama with laser focus as the Hypocritical statements & actions continue.
