Let's stick to insulting McCain which should keep everyone quite busy. ;)

Well - while I don't want McCain to win - I don't want to insult him either - he's an American hero.

Let's debate how horrible his policies will be for the future of the country! ;)

OK, his policies then. Why does it suddenly seem so narrow in here? ;)

Didn't mean to make it narrow - I just despised what they did to Kerry - and I don't want to see our side to do that to someone who was a POW for years - and who fought in a stupid war because the commander in chief at the time said he had to.........

Point well taken! I agree completely.

John McCain has a new best friend. Allow me the privilege of introducing Reverend John Hagee:

And then there's this:

Cindy and Mama McCain must be so proud.

Since it was John McCain who said this in reference to his new best friend, the good Reverend Hagee:

"Well I think it's important to note that pastor John Hagee who has supported and endorsed my candidacy supports what I stand for and believe in. "

I think it's only fair to ask McCain which one of Hagee's positions does McCain support.

The Republicans are the gift that keeps on giving. :lmao:

He just lost the Catholic vote!...and 'during lent" to boot! tsk tsk tsk!

McCain refuses to renounce anti-Catholic and anti-Gay endorser. That should make a big hit with the evangelicals but he won't be winning much love from the Indies. I think he's making another huge misstep with this one.

Listen the evangelicals in Ohio are already on his team. The ones Rove contacted to organize the anti-gay marriage amendment that brought the others out of the woodwork-those are McCain's allies here in Ohio. It's important that we make that known nationally. Just google Rod Parsley and his World Harvest church; he's John McCain's new best friend. Parsley is the one who lined up Willy Cunningham to make the introduction and then through him under the bus so McCain could look good. Yep folks, THAT was theatre.

This is so good. I think it should be shared. Maybe Carson Dial will see it here on his next visit and post it over on the Con thread. Or maybe it just deserves its own, so that everyone can share the news. After all, they sure were quick to talk about Obama and Farakaan.(sp?)

I will tend to agree with you. BUT, if he accepts an endorsement from a religious and sexist bigot, he now owns him. We're not talking about a slip of the tongue from Hagee. We're talking about a pattern of bigotry that goes back years.

Why the Republicans have allowed such people to wield power in their party speaks to the party. No one has ever invited Farakhan to a DNC convention. No one has actively sought Farakhan's endorsedment and then thanked him for it.

If McCain lets this bigot into his house, he is no better. Btw, Lieberman also cuddled up to Hagee. One more reason to despise him.

Well, it all comes down to having higher standards, or not, as the case may be. I'm surprised at Lieberman, as people like this tend to be anti-Semitic as well, but we all know that Lieberman sells himself to any bidder. (can't use that word here that would best apply) If there is anyone that the Dems should distance themselves from it would be him.
But, I hope that someone brings this out. My guess is we will see this Hagee guy mentioned frequently during the general election.
As always, they make it so easy.

I call it Republicans acting like Republicans.

John McCain is dead in the water when it comes to presidential politics. He has the misfortune to suffer from the "Rudy" syndrome: The more you see him, the less you like him. McCain's misfortune might no have meant as much if he was running agains Clinton because she suffers from the same "Rudy" syndrome. Unfortunately for both of them, they're running against a charismatic, well spoken man who seems to uplift the audience when he speaks. Good luck.

So here's McCain's dilemma: He's either got to swallow the crap that the Republican religious/sexist/homophobic bigots throw his way and lose the election because the thinkers will desert him. Or, he's got to reject the Republican religious/sexist/homophobic bigots and alienate a large part of the Republican base and then lose the election.

So far, McCain is making the same mistake the Clinton campaign is making: Both McCain and Clinton are running on their records (ain't pretty), experience (odd since they've got so many things wrong), and against hope. Gooood luuuuck with that. Instead of Obama's "Yes, we can", both McCain and Clinton's mantra is "No, we can't". Again, goooood luuuuuck with that.

It really doesn't need to be posted by our friends on the other side of the aisle. The general peanut gallery, as witnessed by the continually rising post/read number, are finding their way here.

They practically do our work for us. :rotfl2:

Interesting, that reminds me of one of the quotations about Bobby Kennedy. Something along the lines, not sure is this is exact, from Ted Kennedy at Bobby's funeral, in that "Others saw things as they are and ask, why? He saw things as they could be and asked, why not?"

I remember Bobby Kennedy very well. It was a black day in American history that day he was taken from us. This would've been a very different country if he, not just won the presidency, but had stayed around as the conscience of the country.

I see Obama the same way. I know what McCain and Clinton are all about. Quite honestly, either one of them would be a fine president. But they will not move this country into a different different direction.

I'll roll the dice with Obama. The Founding Fathers rolled the dice and I think it's time we did so again.

Sorry, Luv. I didn't realize you already posted this before I posted my link. Although, repeating it many times isn't such a bad thing, I suppose. McCain's either guilty of big time pandering or actually agreeing with the crapola Hagee spouts. Either one is as you say, "the gift that keeps on giving".

He definitely would have won the general election, imho.... and spared us Richard Nixon.

I was really referencing the other part of the "narrowing" but your point is an excellent one. That whole mess still makes me fume.
