The Liberal Thread #2 - No Debate Please

First off, the delegates will count in Mass. it will be interesting to see how they break... The guys up on Beacon Hill were NOT for Obama, but on the other hand, having grown up in the Western part of the State, we might as well not have lived in Mass, we were as if we lived in NY and we voted in that way too.... so it will be interesting. So, I think that overall, the Kennedy family endorsement will have helped, since he was 20 points behind where he ended up just a few weeks ago.:(

Clinton 14 Delagates Obama 10 Delagates in Mass.
Whats weird is that (as per CNN) Obama won Delaware, but Clinton gets the Delagates!

Well, if Honu is mad at me, can I borrow yours? Since you too Have Hope?

Well, for all of us that have hope, it looks like it could be a great night, we've made inroads all through the night, including Connecticut, Minnesota, Colorado, some places we really wondered about...

Course, overall, I think it's a fabulous day for Independant's and Democrats :) Turnout has been so high, people are putting their votes to work! We didn't get to vote today <sigh> but come March 4th, we'll be voting :) but it's great fun always having been a Super Tuesday state to watch the returns, particularly when you are so energized over a candidate.... I've never in all my years stayed up for results to come in late into the night!

I don't do it for the Primarys, but come November, I'm up as late as it takes! That's the New Years Eve for political junkies. :goodvibes

November has always been a no-brainer, but once Mass. where we lived was called I always went to bed, not being too excited about our choices as of late.... this is great to have such enthusiasm...

I just heard a second fatality from the storms has been reported, we need to keep those family's in our thoughts down in Tennesee :(

It's TOTALLY going to be a split, I'm convinced, it looks like it's going to be a state split and a delegate split... if nothing else, we really do have some great choices this year.... something we've not had anytime recently...

But going out to watch a movie on Super Tuesday?? You should be here on the Liberal thread, although we're all being shut off at 11!

You know those Hannah tickets were hard to come by!!!

The 10 year old informed me that Obama won their 5th grade class vote - and was also quick to tell me that most of the Hillary votes were from "girls!"

He got in the hot seat with me a couple of months ago, when he told me that a girl shouldn't be president! I was so incensed - I told on him to his parents - LOL. His Dad is my brother. He's now changing his story to - a girl can be president - just not this one........

The little guy - he worships the ground I walk on - so - today he told me - he wants both of them. He doesn't understand why they can't share.....

Out of the mouths of "babes........"

That is so SWEET, okay, I understand the movie, but it's too bad the board is going down in 4 minutes! Ugh.....

too close to call Ca. at this point for both Dems and Rep.....luckey for me that I live here and can still stay up and play:cool1:

Cilnton...331.... Obama.....254 in Delegates

I'm disappointed in the NJ results.

I think Corzine was a factor, but not the way you think. Rumors are he traded support of Hillary for a promised cabinet position, and most of us here would love to see him make a quick exit. He is a disaster as Governor.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out Jon....

The Today show was reporting that the Democrats are about 70 delegates apart. We could have the first real nominating convention in YEARS.

I actually stood in the booth and just looked at those two names for a minute. Having lived through the Civil Rights Era and Women's Lib, it was an amazing thing to see.

I was emotionally moved when I cast my vote yesterday. For years we have had qualified woman and people of color and ethnicity but the opportunity wasn't there for them. To see that door open is an amazing and historic moment.

I think we may have a real nominating convention too. The delegate count is so close.

Okay seriously - I'm ticked.

I checked out the "I support Mitt Romney thread" and for freaking real?!?!

I am all about supporting the candidate you choose. I have never ever insinuated those who choose to vote differently from myself are "uneducated" or as churchstein put it "People jump on the "change bandwagon" and seemingly aren't intelligent enough to realize that some change isn't necessarily good."

Where do people GET OFF?!?!

Make your choices for your own reasons, but DO NOT question my intelligence because I believe differently.

In the NY Times editorial endorsing John McCain for the Republican primary, they referred to George Bush still governing a "small angry fringe". That quote really hit me in light of some of the comments I've read lately. Sure, there's an angry group on the liberal side as well, but it seems that they're less angry now that that have something they can actually do about the situation.

I just read that thread this morning. I'm not an angry democrat. I believe that Obama is the best choice, and HC is my second choice.

The platform of McCain, Romney or Huckabee doesn't support my core views, so why would I cast a vote for them?

I don't know if that thread is a support Mitt thread, or let's bash the liberals thread, but whatever. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I pretty happy with the results. Although Clinton didn't win my state :( Oh well. I am happy she took some key states though ;)

Looks like it will be split pretty evenly until the end.
Last time I saw on the news it looked to be Clinton was ahead by around 90 delegates.

I just really hope when all is said and done the November ticket looks like Clinton/Obama :goodvibes Just imagine how unbeatable that ticket would be!

Well, my strategy of supporting McCain to keep Romney out seems to have worked. :thumbsup2 Even though it was actually Huckabee who took Georgia. :scared:

What a great night for Obama! :thumbsup2 A few weeks ago Clinton lead by HUGE margins in all the states. I actually remember back in the fall when her campaign was saying she'd have this thing wrapped up by February 5th.

The longer this goes on the more it benefits Obama. And with a handful of states now voting at different times, it benefits Obama I think - the more he campaigns and gets his message out there, the more he cuts into her lead from name recognition.

I couldn't be happier with how last night turned out!

And I love this:

"Obama won his home state by 67 delegates (110-43; 153 total). Clinton won her home state by 52 delegates (142-90; 232 total). Among home states, Obama won a net delegate margin of 15. That’s a good number – but even more impressive when you consider that New York had 79 more delegates up for grabs than Illinois."

I don't remember a race as exciting as this. What a great year, and what a great time to have two great candidates to pull for. I think at this point it may go right up to the convention.

The other thing that's been great to watch is the right-wing pundits; Rush, Hannity, Coulter getting apopleptic in the loss of their ability to control the political landscape anymore. I hope THAT trend continues!

Oh, I love it. I listen to Hannity on my way home from work (it's like a train wreck-- I can't help it), and he's getting more frazzled every day.

Remember in 2004 that after IA the race was pretty much decided it seemed. This is so awesome this year! I think it'll come down to Super Tuesday in March when TX and OH vote. It's all about organization and money now.

Did anyone see when they split the screen of McCain and Obama talking last night? The difference between the two, physically, is pretty remarkable. I had to laugh comparing McCain's AARP (no offense to the older generation! ;) ) vs. the wave sweeping across the party that is the vibrancy of Obama's campaign.

Oh and last night after work, I did some phone calling from home to CT and CA voters - the best reaction I got was from a lady in CA. I was very polite and let her know that since she is undeclared she can vote Democrat and she screams back, in hysteria, "I DON'T WANT TO VOTE FOR THE DEMOCRATS BECAUSE I DON'T LIKE THEMMMM!!!!!!!!" and slammed the phone. :lmao:

Woke up today and made my very first political donation. I watched Obama's speech last night, and figured it was my time to help beyond voting.:goodvibes

Barack brings new enthusiasm and a can do attitude to the political process-very inspiring!!
