Nope. I am just big on seperating Church & State. And when I hear any politian speak as if it is a church meeting I am automatically turned off.:confused3
Unless you're a member of "Americans United" and several other groups, I doubt you're anywhere near as adamant about that as I am, and I fully support Barack. Maybe you should listen to what he is saying, rather than how he's saying it?

They both do-if you're going to get people to vote for you-you have GOT to inspire them. That "old time revivalist" style works-it gets people excited. I don't know how it is in other countries, but in the US that kind of speaking has been part of politics for a LONG time.

I added a Hillary sticker as a sign of solidarity. I'm okay with both. If Edwards was still in the race, I would add him too. :)

Dude, what do you expect? I'm Jewish :rotfl:

I kid though...
I have grave fears about Hillary becoming President.
I think they both have similar views
I like Obama more..

:thumbsup2 On issues It really is a toss up to me! As far as the NHC thing...that will be changed 1000 times before it gets signed.
On issues, neither one scares me. It just the Obama rederick that makes me go hmmmmmmm! I am a NY cynic!;)

Why, thank you. I think a few on the other side of the aisle might disagree with you, though. ;)

As for the religious comments...yes, sadly, I think that's exactly what it is. Barack has the same style of speech as Martin Luther King and many other black religious leaders. I happen to think that style fits him very well (it doesn't work for everyone), and I'm about as non-religious as you can get. :teeth: Other than saying he's a christian, he hasn't spoken about religion much at all (which is as it should be, btw), so that's the only thing it could be when people talk about religious "overtones" to his campaign.

He doesn't have to because it is in the way he talks. He talks like he is in a church or at a religious revival and if you listen to many of his followers(not he word i am looking for) you hear them in the back ground saying AMEN while he is speaking.

His tones are very much religious.....he preaches as he talks. the news stations have even brought that up....and questioned if that would hurt or help him being what may be preseved as mixing Religion and State...

See post above!:thumbsup2
No I am just a Democrat.

I think of the cloud images and words like "believe" associated with Barack Obama's campaign sort of the way I think of the similar images associated with Disney - more of inspirational, dreams-come-true sort of idea than religious. Maybe that's one reason why I like him.

I like Hillary and Obama, but I worry a lot about the outcome of the election and aftermath, because whoever wins will still be dependent on so many other people to be successful and in all honesty, so many people are racist, antifeminist, etc. that I worry if the American populace as a whole will be able to work together with our leaders to achieve their goals.

Even in last nights speach he gave!:headache:

Again....wait till the TV writers are back in swing. I promise you all. you will see the Take-offs on this. There is a wealth of comedy loaded into his speeches.:lmao:

I think speakers can be inspiring, without being ordained ministers. I also think that listeners that wish to may respond verbally. I don't find that offensive. This is done, not only in churches, but also in civic groups, as well as in the political arena.
I don't have a narrow view of what's acceptable. I don't "perceive" anything sinister with Barack, he's just connecting with his audience. I'm not threatened by his sincere enthusiasm. On the contrary, I find it refreshing.

I think the important thing to remember is that they are both Democrats, and have a lot of the same ideas for necessary change. At this point, I'd vote for either even if they advocated drowning kittens as federal policy.

Ok, now THAT's where I draw the line. NO animal cruelty!!

I have to agree.... Flame if you will or if you won't, but I sincerely do not believe in any god, and you wouldn't find me in any church, yet Barack has a message, I hear it, it's not offensive to me in any way.... It has no religious overtones other than someone who is speaking passionately about something he believes in.

If I'm not offended or bothered by it, I'm sure 98% of America isn't. I just don't do the whole God thing (I know I'll burn in h*** so nobody try saving me)

I'm glad you understand how I feel. It's good to know others feel the same way. :goodvibes

I don't feel anything sinister about him either...just that he does talk as if I'm in church and listening to a minister. I have gone to revivals before when I was a Jesus freak(word that was used at the time I was going in the very early 70's) and that is how they were talking.

Inspirational...for sure...that's why I went...did I walk out feeling like God could fix anything...you betcha....and when he talks he talks just as the speakers did at theses revivals/black churches....I loved it and still find it comforting but find it uncomfortable (don't know why) when he is doing it during a speech.

I love to listen to his voice in a debate..he is talking as if it is not rehearsed...maybe that's what it is ...it sounds to rehearsed:confused3

And don't forget I have no problem voting his way. JMO that's all.
