I cannot figure out what they mean! For example, I know I would like to book a Category 4 because it is one of the largest verandah cabins. But then there is Category 4A, 4B, 4C, 4D, and 4E. The prices differ slightly. Are they on different decks? And do you request these, or get them assigned?
Any help would be appreciated! I have looked all over three different websites for the information!

In general, the number indicates the type of room and the letter indicates the exact location. For the category 4 rooms, the letter indicates which deck. On the Dream and Fantasy, the 4As are on decks 9 and 10, the 4Bs are on deck 8, the 4Cs are on deck 7, the 4Ds are on deck 6, and the 4Es are on deck 5. The 4E rooms are "special" in that they have the same interior space as category 5 rooms (so smaller than 4A-4D), but they have extended verandahs. We've stayed in a 4E, and the verandahs are at least twice as deep as a standard verandah.

Rooms on higher decks are generally more expensive than the same type of room on lower decks. Whether or not rooms on higher decks are worth the extra cost depends on who you ask.

You can (and should) choose a specific room when you book. If most of the rooms in a category have been booked, you'll be given the option of choosing to book that category GTY (guarantee), meaning that DCL will assign you a room in that category or above closer to sail date.

The DCL deck plans show have all the rooms color coded by category.

Thank you!! That was exactly the information I was looking for. I had been looking at the deck plans but they are a bit intimidating!! It all makes sense now!
